Survivability has emerged as a new phase for the development of network security technique, and how to improve the system survivability using effective strategy is an important problem. In this paper, by analyzing the fuzzy matrix game (FMG) theory and network survivability mechanism, a novel strategy selection model for network survivability based on FMG theory and its dynamic analysis method are presented from the macroscopically view. The analysis result shows that the proposed method can provide guarantee conditions for network survivability effectively.

Establishment of quantitative and operable index system is the basis of quantitative evaluation for information systems survivability. This paper provides a complete overview on performance index for survivability from the aspects of index content, attack phases and evaluating standard, proposes a framework for performance index which can present the survivability, and formalizes the index system. On the basis of which, abstracts the mathematical model of index system, analyses and validates that the proposed index system has the features of standardization and completeness. This research is significant to quantitative evaluation for information systems survivability.

Due to the dynamic characteristic of nodes in the Grid environment, the state of nodes need be efficiently monitored. Grid node organization, deployment, configuration and management problems of Grid monitoring system are the closely-related. Benefiting from self-management and self-configuration thinking of Autonomic Computing, the node self-organization mechanism and node initialization algorithm are put forward. Based on the self-organization, the selfmonitoring and self-management mechanism of node are researched, making it possible to monitor the whole lifecycle of Grid node, from the initialization of joining the Grid environment to the leaving.

Motivated by a key agreement scheme proposed by Leighton and Micali (LM-KDS), we present a key establishment mechanism for heterogeneous sensor networks which combines random key pre-distribution schemes and LM-KDS. Using LM-KDS as its building block, proposed scheme divides nodes into groups and distributes a small number of micro key servers among nodes. This scheme consists of two phases. In the first one, some secret information is sent by the TA to every node off-line, then the TA assigns public keying material to every micro key server. In the second phase, if any pair of nodes cannot establish session key using their preloaded keying material, they may get public keying material from a micro key server through an open channel. Besides, all the public keying material preloaded in micro key servers does not need to be secret. This scheme preserves properties of LM-KDS yet takes advantage of flexibility of probabilistic approaches to yield improved resilience against node capture attacks by trading off increased communication overhead and storage complexity. © 2008 ACM.

In large-scale system-on-chips(SoCs),the power consumption on the communication infrastructure should be minimized for reliable,feasible,and cost-efficient *** energy-efficient network-on-chip (NoC) is necessary for application to high performance SoC *** low-power circuits are designed, and implemented in each open system interconnection ***-swing serial link and source-synchronous serial communication in physical layer and low-energy serial link coding in data-link layer are designed and realized on the *** activated crossbar and Mux-Tree based round-robin scheduler are also designed to reduce the power consumption in network layer. Experiment on these low-power circuits demonstrate that the NoC power dissipation is reduced by 38%.

In this paper, we study the topic of distributed and optimal congestion control for scalable video streams in application-layer multicast (ALM). We propose a TCP-friendly, fully distributed synchronous algorithm based on the utility-price model which maximizes the global utilities for the streams in the application-layer multicast tree. With the help of numerical study, we show that our proposed algorithm optimizes the overall video quality for fine-grained scalable streams, while minimizing the messaging overhead in the application-layer multicast channel.

Most existing P2P networks route requests in O(kN1/k), O(logN), O(logN/log logN ), or O(logN/log k) hops, where N is the number of participating nodes and k is an adjustable parameter. Using the simple uniformly-random neighbor selection strategy, this paper proposes a random peer-to-peer network that is the first of its kind to resolve requests in d hops and O(d) messages with a probability of 1-c, where c is a chosen constant that can be arbitrarily small. The system combines arbitrary neighbor selection, typically used only in unstructured P2P networks, with a DHT (distributed hash table) ring. It is practically attractive due to small routing delay, which does not grow with the size of the network. The number of neighbors per node is O((-ln c)frac12dN1/d), which is within a constant factor (-ln c)frac12d from the optimal complexity O(N1/d) for any network whose routing paths are bounded by d hops.

Radio networks experience the greatest spectrum scarcity in urban environments. Dynamic radio access enables simultaneous and opportunistic spectrum reuse. This paper considers frequency division duplexing cellular networks, where every mobile user (MU) is allocated a frequency channel for uplink transmission to the base station (BS). Previously a frequency reuse model has been proposed for low power communications among secondary users (SU) in a cell. In the system the secondary user controls its transmit power to minimize interference at the nearest base station. This paper considers reusing frequencies within a cell to allow mobile users in outage to use other active users as relays to the base station. Different criteria are compared for choosing the relay frequency channels to be reused. Simulations consider urban large scale propagation conditions in a multicell environment. Results show significant reduction in the overall outage probability for the enhanced cellular network. The algorithm allows cooperation to share available resources without changing hardware or networks.

In this paper, we present the code design structure of unitary and non-unitary differential space-frequency group codes (DSFCs) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)- orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems based on optimal coherent space-frequency (SF) group codes. Under the assumption that the transmitter knows only the delay profile of the channel, a differential transmission rule incorporated with subcarrier allocation is obtained that allows data to be sent without channel estimates at the transmitter or receiver. The differential encoding/decoding is performed in the frequency domain within each single OFDM symbol. Therefore, proposed DSFCs can be successfully decoded even for a rapidly fading channel which may change independently from one OFDM symbol to another. Unitary and nonunitary DSFCs, that are constructed based on design criteria, are compared with recently published techniques in the literature and shown to inherit coding gain of optimal coherent SF codes. Due to design structure and energy constraints, our nonunitary DSFCs do not blow up or diminish during the differential encoding.
