We present GauKGT5, a sequence-to-sequence model proposed for knowledge graph completion (KGC). Our research extends the KGT5 model, a recent sequence-to-sequence link prediction (LP) model. GauKGT5 takes advantage of textual characteristics inherent in the knowledge graph, exhibiting a small model size. However, KGT5's proficiency in link prediction necessitates the ensemble with a knowledge graph embedding model, which itself poses challenges due to its substantial size and expense. By integrating the Gated Attention Unit into the KGT5 model and directly applying it to the encoder-decoder structure, we achieve improved contextual dependency capturing within the sequence, resulting in enhanced prediction accuracy, accelerated training speed, and enhanced computational efficiency. At the same time, we introduce parallel computing as a means to enhance the efficiency of model training and inference within the XPU distributed computing environment. © 2023 IEEE.

Human face image generation can be used in media, marketing, education, creativity, research and privacy protection. Many deep learning networks have been proposed for generating high-resolution human face images, while the quality of generated human face images are not fully investigated. To bridge this gap, 11 StyleGAN-based networks are firstly trained via the database Flickr-Faces-HQ (FFHQ). Then, each network produces 10,000 high-resolution (1024 × 1024) human face images. After that, the quality of these generated images are evaluated with 6 Face Image Quality Assessment (FIQA) metrics. The average metric values suggest that the generated human face images are with higher quality than the realistic images in the FFHQ database. However, the failure cases of generated images remind us that artifacts and distortions exist, and unreasonable combinations and meaningless contents are produced. Therefore, significant progress is still required for achieving reliable quality assessment and high-accuracy generation of human faces. © 2024 IEEE.

Semi-supervised multi-label learning (SSMLL) refers to inducing classifiers using a small number of samples with multiple labels and many unlabeled samples. The prevalent solution of SSMLL involves forming pseudo-labels for unlabeled samples and inducing classifiers using both labeled and pseudo-labeled samples in a self-training manner. Unfortunately, with the commonly used binary type of loss and negative sampling, we have empirically found that learning with labeled and pseudo-labeled samples can result in the variance bias problem between the feature distributions of positive and negative samples for each label. To alleviate this problem, we aim to balance the variance bias between positive and negative samples from the perspective of the feature angle distribution for each label. Specifically, we extend the traditional binary angular margin loss to a balanced extension with feature angle distribution transformations under the Gaussian assumption, where the distributions are iteratively updated during classifier training. We also suggest an efficient prototype-based negative sampling method to maintain high-quality negative samples for each label. With this insight, we propose a novel SSMLL method, namely Semi-Supervised Multi-Label Learning with Balanced Binary Angular Margin loss (S2ML2-BBAM). To evaluate the effectiveness of S2ML2-BBAM, we compare it with existing competitors on benchmark datasets. As vehicular edge computing and networks (VECONs) emerge, Internet of vehicles (IoVs) is gaining significant advantages. To provide users with dependable services, VECONs need to offer efficient and secure task offloading services. Unfortunately, little effort has been put into addressing security issues such as the risk of privacy exposure when offloading data. Modeling and optimizing offloading dependability are affected by these issues. To address these concerns, a dependable three-layer offloading framework involving blockchain technology is presented in this paper, with fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) algorithm incorporated in order to mitigate privacy exposure risks. The framework divides tasks reasonably and introduces a novel measure of offloading dependability called cost from energy consumption, delay, and privacy exposure risk (cEDP) for constructing dependable offloading optimization. Additionally, a self-learning based dependable privacy preservation offloading (SDPPO) algorithm is presented that is capable of solving the optimal offloading problem in a decentralized manner. Simulation results show that the SDPPO algorithm outperforms its counterparts in terms of faster convergence speed, better cEDP convergence results, and improved scalability and tunability characteristics. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

NASTCNN: a spatio-temporal convolutional neural network with non-local attention mechanism for image-induced brain activity pattern recognition

Deciphering the brain’s visual processing mechanisms has always been a hot topic. Using neural signal patterns to predict the corresponding external visual stimuli is crucial in understanding the interaction of real visual scenes. There are some challenges in the study of image-induced brain activity pattern recognition based on electroencephalogram (EEG)， e.g. how to fully utilize the effective features of EEG signals to improve the classification， and how the frequency and the length of EEG effect the model performance. We design an experimental paradigm that minimizes the interaction between visual stimuli， and propose a spatio-temporal convolutional neural network with non-local attention mechanism (NASTCNN) for image-induced brain activity pattern recognition. The framework utilizes non-local feature extraction operations to realize global information interaction between EEG signals over long distances and enhance the feature expression of some important information. Our model achieves the best performance on both MNIST-EEG and ImageNet-EEG datasets. The classification results are 24.00% and 50.10% respectively， higher than the random probability. We also analyze the effects of different EEG frequency bands and time subsequences of different lengths on the classification performance and which brain regions are activated over time. The results show that when full frequency band and entire length sequence are selected， the classification result is optimal. The occipital region is essential for processing visual tasks， and the temporal region and some frontal regions also play important role in the later stage of visual decoding. This research can help us better understand the visual processing mechanism of the brain.

The zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) obtained by global navigation satellite system (GNSS) atmospheric sounding is a pivotal data source for water vapor monitoring. Meteorological changes in Antarctica play an important role in analysis of the global climate, but factors such as complex climatic conditions can limit the collection of meteorological data needed for ZTD retrieval. Therefore, it is necessary to establish high-precision ZTD models that do not rely on measured meteorological data. The existing global pressure and temperature 3 (GPT3) model has limited ability to capture complex weather variations and cannot obtain high-precision GPT3_ZTD. To address the above issues, this research proposes a high-precision ZTD model through using temporal convolutional network (TCN) for improving the hourly global pressure and temperature 2 (HGPT2) model. The HGTP2 model based on Fourier analysis and the time-segmentation concept can consider the linear trend of climate variations, simultaneously the TCN is introduced to simulate the long-term temporal dependence of HGPT2_ZTD, so as to achieve the goal of obtaining high-precision ZTD without relying on measured meteorological data. The experimental results show that the precision of TCN_ZTD obtained from the proposed model is higher than GPT3_ZTD and HGPT2_ZTD when using the GNSS_ZTD observations obtained from 35 stations in Antarctica as a reference, and the improvement of the model is obvious. © 2024, Aerospace Information Research Institute.

In satellite communications, global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) and other important space activities, the value of total electron content (TEC) in the ionosphere directly affects the size of ionospheric delay. Achieving accurate prediction of ionospheric total electron content through modeling can effectively improve the reliability and accuracy of GNSS positioning. Considering the high prediction accuracy of long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) and the fast training speed of gated recurrent unit network (GRU), but it is easy to fall into the local optimum, while the width learning system(BLS) can effectively avoid this drawback. Therefore, this paper proposes a model for predicting the total electron content of the ionosphere, which consists of a broad learning system, an LSTM network and a GRU networks. Six parameters of TEC, geomagnetic index Dst, Kp, Ap, solar activity index F10.7, and hour (HD) are selected as input features from the observed data to predict the variation of the total ionospheric electron content. The results generate prediction maps of the total ionospheric electron content and are compared with empirical models and conventional neural network models at different times and solar activity conditions. The experimental results show that the root mean square error (RMSE) of the prediction results of this BLS-LSTM-GRU model is decreased by 23.07%, 17.48% and 9.46% compared with the IRI-2016, NeQuick and CNN-LSTM prediction models, respectively, with higher prediction accuracy. © 2024, Aerospace Information Research Institute.

In a rapidly evolving job market, skill demand forecasting is crucial as it enables policymakers and businesses to anticipate and adapt to changes, ensuring that workforce skills align with market needs, thereby enhancing productivity and competitiveness. Additionally, by identifying emerging skill requirements, it directs individuals towards relevant training and education opportunities, promoting continuous self-learning and development. However, the absence of comprehensive datasets presents a significant challenge, impeding research and the advancement of this field. To bridge this gap, we present Job-SDF, a dataset designed to train and benchmark job-skill demand forecasting models. Based on millions of public job advertisements collected from online recruitment platforms, this dataset encompasses monthly recruitment demand. Our dataset uniquely enables evaluating skill demand forecasting models at various granularities, including occupation, company, and regional levels. We benchmark a range of models on this dataset, evaluating their performance in standard scenarios, in predictions focused on lower value ranges, and in the presence of structural breaks, providing new insights for further research. There is a growing interest to use Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) inversed PWV for heavy rainfall prediction. When heavy rainfall occurs, it requires the atmosphere to contain sufficient water vapour and undergo strong upward motion. However, existing models using GNSS-PWV for heavy rainfall prediction have not accounted for the effect of the complex motion of water vapour. In this paper, an hourly heavy rainfall prediction model using sample entropy derived from GNSS-PWV and PSO-SVM is proposed. The sample entropy of GNSS-PWV is used to measure the complexity of the water vapour movement process before heavy rainfall occurs. Meanwhile, combining GNSS-PWV time domain features and co-located meteorological data, the occurrence of hourly heavy rainfall events is predicted by support vector machine optimized with particle swarm. To verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed algorithm, Hong Kong's HKSC station in Sham Shui Po is used for the model to train and test. The result shows that probability of detection, false alarm rate and critical success index of the proposed algorithm in this paper have significantly improved over other heavy rainfall prediction models. © 2024, Aerospace Information Research Institute.
