Security assessment and mitigation have gained considerable attention over the recent years according to the information technology evolution and its broad adoption. Organizations are more aware of their data security, and they also have become more exigent in terms of extensibility and flexibility of their Information Technology infrastructures. Cloud computing is introduced as an evolution of information technology that offers major solutions and techniques to meet the evolving requirements of both tenants and clients. Therefore, extensibility and dynamic adjustment, which are among the most essential Cloud advantages, can make the security analysis a very hard task. There have been many approaches to analyze automatically the cyber security of traditional IT infrastructures without taking into account the new Cloud features, such as the nested virtualization. Until now, there is a few work to assess the security of Cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to design and develop Model-based Automated Security Assessment Tool named MASAT.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive bandwidth allocation (BA) and connection admission control (CAC) mechanism based on game theory for polling services in IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless networks. A noncooperative two-person general-sum game is formulated where the base station and a new connection are the players of this game. The game formulation provides not only the decision on accepting or rejecting a connection, but also the amount of bandwidth allocated to a new connection (if admitted). A queuing model considering adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) in the physical layer is used to analyze quality of service (QoS) performances, namely, delay and throughput performances, respectively, for real-time and non-real-time polling services. This queuing model is used by the proposed bandwidth allocation and admission control game to ensure that the payoffs for both the base station and the new connection are maximized. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by simulation and compared with that of traditional admission control with static and adaptive bandwidth allocation.

WiMAX, the acronym for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a set of technical standards based on IEEE 802.16 standard. It provides an internet connection to broadband coverage area of several kilometers in radius, it's an adequate response to some rural or inaccessible areas. Unlike DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) or other wired technology, WiMAX uses radio waves and can provide point-to-multipoint (PMP) and point-to-point (P2P) modes. In parallel, it was observed that in the contrast of the traditional quality evaluation approaches, nowadays, current researches focus on the user perceived quality, the existing scheduling approaches take into account the quality of service (QoS), mobility and many other parameters, but do not consider the quality of experience (QoE). In this paper, we develop a scheduling algorithm to provide QoE to the WiMAX network. A novel approach is proposed, especially for the Best Effort (BE) WiMAX service class, in this approach if there has been a packet loss on a connection, the system reduces the transmission rate of this connection, until achieving its minimum allowable transmission rate. Simulation results on NS-2 simulator show that by applying various levels of mean opinion score (MOS) the QoE provided to the users is enhanced in term of throughput, jitter, packet loss rate and delay. © 2014 IEEE.

The main goal of LTE system is to provide high data transfer rate, low latency, increased flexible and effective bandwidth, and improve quality of service to reduce delay. In this paper, we develop radio admission control mechanism for handling multiclass services in LTE systems. An objective function of maximizing the number of admitted users is proposed to evaluate the system capacity. To solve the optimization problem, we present a combined complete sharing and virtual partitioning resource allocation model and develop a service degradation scheme in case of resource limitations in the radio admission control mechanism. The system performance parameters of interest are evaluated by using Markov chain model. Numerical results show that an optimal proportion of resource deployment for different service groups can be identified to maximize system capacity while at the same time maintaining quality of service constraints of all admitted users.

The measurement and improvement of flow in the WMN wireless mesh networks is still a subject of research, making it an issue of importance for the development of 802.11s standard. The objective is to estimate their capacity to better manage traffic and ensure good quality of service QoS. The capacity of a WMN is one of the most important characteristics; it reflects the load of traffic it can flow to a destination. The development of this metric will be the basis for solving problems such as fairness and media access. We have performed research concerning the nature of the goodput in the face of several parameters and on two types of wireless mesh networks: networks adopting the mechanism of the broadcast control messages and networks without flood control. The objective of this work is to derive the optimal values of inter-departure/size pair of packets that match a maximum goodput.

The Multiple access system deals with a situation where multiple nodes are required to access a commonly shared channel. These multiple accesses can be viewed as uncoordinated nodes which compete for bandwidth. Various random access mechanisms, such as ALOHA protocol and its corresponding variations, have been widely studied as efficient methods to coordinate the medium access among competing users. In such situations, one of the most important objectives is to evaluate the system performances under such protocol. In this paper we enhanced a model already studied in a previous work by expanding the number of states in a Markov model for a system implementing slotted Aloha protocol;and we use a three state Markov process in order to represent and evaluate the performances of the system under different scenarios. In this model we are interested in representing the time occupancy of the system, evaluating the throughput system under different fairness conditions, and evaluating the probability that the system is in a backlogged state or in an idle state. © 2014 IEEE.

WiMAX, the acronym for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a set of technical standards based on IEEE 802.16 standard. It provides wireless connection of companies or individuals over long distances at high speed, it's an adequate response to some rural or inaccessible areas. Unlike DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) or other wired technology, WiMAX uses radio waves and can provide point-to-multipoint (PMP) and Mesh modes. In parallel, Voice over IP (VoIP) technology is the biggest revolution in communication technology. It replaces the traditional telephone service and offers free long distance calls. Video stream traffic is characterized by the ability to transmit real-time and interactively visual and auditory information. VoIP and Video traffic are highly delay intolerant and need a high priority transmission. In this paper, we analyze the performances of the most common VoIP codec, namely G.711, and video streaming H.263 format using BE, rtPS, UGS, ertPS and nrtPS service classes and NOAH routing protocol. NS-2 simulator is used to analyze the QoS parameters. Our objective is to analyze different WiMAX service classes with respect to the QoS parameters such as, average jitter, throughput and average delay while increasing mobile nodes. © 2014 Rinton Press.

Blind Flooding is the simplest broadcasting operation used in a wireless mesh network (WMN) based IEEE 802.11s. However such mechanism can significantly degrade the network performance due to the considerable amount of broadcast traffic a WMN may face. Actually, routing relies heavily on layer two broadcasting and WMNs may bridge wired networks which deploy many broadcasting based application. In previous work we have designed an adaptive approach to control the forwarding of flooded messages into the mesh. The main focus of our previous simulations was to simulate the flooding process in wireless mesh network routing protocol, namely Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP), which is using Blind Flooding. Generally, the results have shown a considerable amelioration of the network capacity specially with scaling. In this paper we evaluate our scheme, namely Control of Broadcast Forwarding (CBF), in comparison with Blind Flooding protocol. Our protocol is a self pruning algorithm where each node decides itself if or not to rebroadcast a flooded message based on packet type information element and 2-hop neighborhood knowledge. Simulations results show a significant reduction of broadcast cost while improving slightly the average end to end delay.
