Cloud Computing (CC) marks a new step towards IT infrastructure dematerialization. Cloud provides IT resources, software and hardware, remotely accessible, as a service. The adoption of this model raises a number of challenges, particularly with regard to Quality of the provided services. To cope with a highly dynamic environment such as the CC, it is essential to determine in real time Quality of Service (QoS) to meet consumer's SLA (Service Level Agreements) specifications. In this context, agreements (contract) service level form an appropriate solution to specify these QoS guarantees. It specifies one or more service level objectives (SLO), to guarantee that the delivered QoS satisfies the consumer expectations. Monitoring these QoS agreements for the management of the relationships, between, cloud providers and their services customers is an area that attracts the attention of many researchers and industrialists in the cloud. In our work we introduce the concept of monitoring and respect of the QoS, then we present a third party service provider that ensures the respect of the Quality of Service in real-time to guarantee the performance and the reliability of the Cloud.

This paper focuses on the study of queueing theoretic problem of OFDMA-based WiMAX with three classes of connections, connections with High Priority (HP), conections with Medium Priority (MP) and connections with Low Priority (LP). The key idea to solve the problem of the mixed priority strategy is the technique of the Shadow server approximation. Specifically, we present a single-cell WiMAX environment in which the base station allocates subchannels to the subscriber stations in its coverage area. The subchannels allocated to a subscriber station are shared by multiple connections at that subscriber station. To ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) performances, two Connection Admission Control (CAC) mechanisms, namely, threshold-based (tb) and queue-aware (qa) CAC schemes are considered at a subscriber station. Then, sbased on the queueing model, both the connection-level and the packet-level performances are studied and compared with their analogues in the case without CAC. The connection arrival is modeled by a Poisson process and the packet arrival for a connection by a Markov Modulated Poisson Process (MMPP). Several performance measures are derived. © 2012 IEEE.

High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is being increasingly deployed to enhance UMTS Radio Access networks. Scheduling of Node B (base station) buffered user data for transmission over a shared radio channel is a key HSDPA functionality which enables queue management techniques to be utilized to improve Quality of Service (QoS) for mixed 'multimedia' services. In this paper, we study a control access scheme of multimedia stream in HSDPA channel. The control scheme consists in putting thresholds in the channel in order to well manage the access of the various packets by giving priority of access to the packets at real time. The RT arrival is modelled by a Poisson process and the NRT arrival by a BMAP Process with two states. We use stochastic reward Nets (SRN) approach to derive QoS metrics of this control. Obtained results show the impact of workload aspects (e.g., arrival rate and service rate) and system capacity on two performance measures: mean response delay and job blocking probability. © 2012 IEEE.

With the rise of cyber-attack activities in the recent years, research in this area has gained immense emphasis. One of such research efforts is modeling of cyber-attacks. In this context, several modeling approaches have been developed, such as approaches based on attack trees (AT). In this paper, we propose Colored Petri Net (CoPNet) modeling approach by extending the attack trees with new modeling constructs and analysis approaches. CoPNet based attack model is flexible enough to model Internet intrusion, including the static and dynamic features of the intrusion. The process and rules of building CoPNet based attack model from AT are also presented. In order to evaluate the risk of intrusion, some cost elements are added to CoPNet based attack modeling. We show how attack trees can be converted and analyzed in CoPNets. Finally, we provide a case study that illustrates the CoPNet approach. © 2012 IEEE.

The Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is a set of technical standards based on IEEE 802.16 standard, WiMAX is an alternative solution for the deployment of broadband networks in the territories, whether or not covered by other technologies such as ADSL or cable. It provides flexibility in network deployment options and service and supports point-to-multipoint (PMP) and Mesh mode. In parallel, VoIP is a technique that allows communicating by voice over IP compatible networks, one of the main advantages of VoIP is its ability to reduce costs, it becomes an alternative to public switched telephone. Voice traffic is highly delay intolerant and it needs a high priority transmission. In this paper, we investigate the performances of the most common VoIP codecs, named as G.711, G.723.1 and G.729 using Best Effort, UGS, rtPS, ertPS and nrtPS service classes and NOAH routing protocol. NS-2 simulator is used to analyze the QoS parameters. The objective is to compare different WiMAX's service classes with respect to the QoS parameters, such as, average jitter, throughput and average delay. © 2012 IEEE.

In wireless multi-hop networks, broadcasting by flooding generates frequent retransmissions of unnecessary packets that participate heavily in increasing contention and collision probability. These problems become increasingly likely in a wireless mesh network which can interface to other external networks, thus leading to a significant increase in broadcast traffic. In this paper we have focused on IEEE 802.11s based wireless mesh networks and we have designed a new adaptive approach based on self-pruning to control broadcast traffic forwarding. Our algorithm uses two-hop neighbor information to ascertain the forwarding decision. Simulation results show the advantages of our approach which has contributed to significantly reduce unnecessary rebroadcasts while improving average end to end delay, network load and throughput.
