IoT data traffic in future mobile networks is expected to grow significantly and, thus, pose challenges for service providers. IoT traffic is anticipated to be in the form of huge number of small data packets. These packets would consume radio resources inadequately and result in reduced spectral efficiency. This paper proposes a unique application of packet aggregation in mobile networks for enhanced spectral efficiency. Additionally, the timer mechanism for avoiding long delays is also incorporated to further improve the system performance. Results indicate that improvement in spectral efficiency would help in increased system capacity. © 2019 IEEE.

Many BDS is doomed to failure because of the missing knowledge on measuring the performance of BDS. The failure to identify the performance measurement and correct will make the problems worsen. This will complicate the efforts of fixing such problems and more importantly, will affect the quality of knowledge, insights, and results expected by the users in the future. In achieving durable performance, the organization needsto understand the factors that contribute to the performance of the eco-sustainability and green analytics metrics for BDS. Although the existence of its importance and awareness was largely neglected. Therefore, the eco-sustainability and green analytic measurement of the BDS is examined in this research. Measuring the BDS performance has the benefit of identifying problems and launching corrective actions before these problems happen and become worsen. The research will investigate the eco-sustainability and green analytic measures which will be proposed and used to capture performance for each process of BDS. Then, based on such measures and metrics, as well as existing performance concepts, frameworks, and models, a measurement model for BDS will be created. The model will be validated through expert evaluations and confirmatory studies with users and practitioners of BDS users. The research has a greater significance in leveraging existing performance concepts in BDS settings and the research proposes users' participation in the sustainability and continuous performance evaluation of theirBDS.

PASTA-4-PHT: A Pipeline for Automated Security and Technical Audits for the Personal Health Train

Background: With the introduction of data protection regulations, the need for innovative privacy-preserving approaches to process and analyse sensitive data has become apparent. One approach is the Personal Health Train (PHT) that brings analysis code to the data and conducts the data processing at the data premises. However, despite its demonstrated success in various studies, the execution of external code in sensitive environments, such as hospitals, introduces new research challenges because the interactions of the code with sensitive data are often incomprehensible and lack transparency. These interactions raise concerns about potential effects on the data and increases the risk of data breaches. Results: To address this issue, this work discusses a Personal Health Train (PHT)-aligned security and audit pipeline inspired by DevSecOps principles, called Pipeline for Automated Security and Technical Audits for the Personal Health Train (PASTA-4-PHT). The automated pipeline incorporates multiple phases that detect vulnerabilities, such as unintentionally or intentionally introduced weaknesses in the code of the PHT, before its deployment. To thoroughly study its versatility, we evaluate PASTA-4-PHT in two ways. First, we deliberately introduce vulnerabilities into a PHT. Second, we apply our pipeline to five real-world PHTs, which have been utilised in real-world studies, to audit them for potential vulnerabilities. Conclusions: Our evaluation demonstrates that our designed pipeline successfully identifies potential vulnerabilities and can be applied to real-world studies. In compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for data management, documentation, and protection, our automated approach supports researchers using the Personal Health Train (PHT) in their data-intensive work and reduces manual overhead. A terahertz (THz) wave technology is very appealing for applications in detection in biomedicine, biological spectroscopy, material characterization, detection, imaging, sensing, and other convenient applications. Metamaterials (MMs) are artificial structures that have structures in a regular periodic arrangement and don't exist in nature. By utilizing a proposed terahertz metamaterial absorber, a broad spectrum of adulterated lubricants can be detected. It is an efficient detection process that enables the development of a THz detection approach by making use of the metamaterial as a sensor. The proposed terahertz absorber is analyzed and optimized using the CST Microwave Studio 2019 software. The article proposed a multiband THz metamaterial absorber with a unit size of 70 µm. According to the demonstrated results, we can achieve five narrow absorption peaks with perfect absorption within the frequency range between (0.2–4.2) Terahertz. Also, the result shows that, the average absorbance of 99.07% at the resonance frequencies of 0.56, 1.42, 2.676, 3.14, and 3.89 THz. The E (electric) and H (magnetic)-field distributions on the resonator at different resonance frequencies were also analyzed as well as. The recommended metamaterial absorber has a good sensing capability at different resonant frequencies, with refractive index sensitivities of 80 GHz/RIU, 240 GHz/RIU, 480 GHz/RIU, 480 GHz/RIU, and 520 GHz/RIU obtained by modifying the refractive index of the sample holder or the analytic layer, respectively. As a result, the proposed detector has a high refractive index sensitivity, high Q-factor, and high FOM, making it suitable for detecting oil adulteration. © 2024 Elsevier GmbH

LiDAR technology has rapidly advanced, offering highly accurate solutions for tree geometry estimation, which is particularly valuable in agriculture and forestry. Its ability to capture precise 2D and 3D data has revolutionized tree detection and measurement. In Eucalyptus plantations, continuous monitoring is critical to maximizing growth, enhancing paper production, and mitigating environmental damage. However, existing solutions face challenges in real-time monitoring due to factors such as parasitic interference, low-light conditions, and uneven terrain. In this work, we present a novel, end-to-end framework that enhances Eucalyptus tree measurement and monitoring. Our framework significantly improves data collection efficiency by allowing measurements at walking speed, reducing measurement distance by 50% compared to traditional manual approaches. This system integrates 2D-LiDAR with additional environmental sensors to extract key tree parameters, including circumference, position, and tree count. The collected data is stored in real-time and uploaded to a centralized server for further analysis. Experimental evaluations across 160 trees, under five distinct farm conditions, demonstrate that our system achieves 89% accuracy in tree diameter estimation and 98.5% accuracy in tree counting, significantly outperforming traditional methods. These results establish our framework as a highly effective solution for improving the accuracy and efficiency of tree monitoring in challenging environments.

Cloud computing is one of the most modern innovations that are growing rapidly in all technical fields because of its advantages in securing multiple resources and high speed in performance. It provides users connected via the Internet with a variety of storage and computing supplies. Cloud computing is both a catalyst and an enabler for major technological developments such as mobile computing, big data, and machine learning. With all these features, task scheduling has become one of the most difficult challenges facing the cloud, It plays a key role in the effectiveness of all cloud computing tools. Scheduling tasks means allocating tasks to the suitable virtual machine so that the course of computation can be executed to satisfy QoS constraints defined by users such as time to finish and expense. Most current optimization algorithms focus on only one aspect. In this paper, Depending on the characteristics of the swarm algorithm we will develop a model to solve the dilemma of task scheduling as well in order to get the fastest time to transfer tasks and the fastest time for execution with the lowest possible expense. In addition to that, we will develop a multi-purpose algorithm based on the PSO method to provide an optimal solution for the proposed model. The experimental consequences of this paper demonstrate that the proposed manner is more efficacious in expediting tasks and reducing expenses. © 2020 IEEE.

The objective of the work is to track the level of cotton dust in the textile sector. The IoT-enabled cotton dust monitoring system deploys three sensors: Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F; Shinyei PPD42NS; and Honeywell HPMA115S0-XXX measuring the dust levels. The Optical dust sensor GP2Y1010AU0F has a threshold of 1 mg/mS, which is placed inside the mask and when that threshold is crossed, buzzer alerts the worker with the air contaminants. It measures inhaled cotton dust and sends data to IoT, real-time concentration height of dust into the mobile devices. Experimental results show that Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F sensor has achieved award for acquiring the highest mean dust concentration of 95.167 mg/mS with a standard deviation of 3.014 among the three sensors, while Honeywell HPMA115S0-XXX and Shinyei PPD42NS recorded a mean of 87.833 mg/mS and 77.500 mg/mS, respectively. The observed response times of the sensors as follows for GP2Y1010AU0F-8s, HPMA115S0-XXX-6s, and PPD42NS- 5s, recording the fastest response by Honeywell HPMA115S0-XXX. A comparative study in accuracy, precision and sensitivity, with a response time, shows the merits and demerits for each sensor. Results emphasize the effectiveness of the system proposed for monitoring in terms of airborne cotton dust exposure in improving safety in textile workplaces. A meta-analysis is performed with Bayesian framework using JASP software.

The notion of Wheeler languages is rooted in the Burrows-Wheeler transform (BWT), one of the most central concepts in data compression and indexing. The BWT has been generalized to finite automata, the so-called Wheeler automata, by Gagie et al. [Theor. Comput. Sci. 2017]. Wheeler languages have subsequently been defined as the class of regular languages for which there exists a Wheeler automaton accepting them. Besides their advantages in data indexing, these Wheeler languages also satisfy many interesting properties from a language theoretic point of view [Alanko et al., Inf. Comput. 2021]. A characteristic yet unsatisfying feature of Wheeler languages however is that their definition depends on a fixed order of the alphabet. In this paper we introduce the Universally Wheeler languages UW, i.e., the regular languages that are Wheeler with respect to all orders of a given alphabet. Our first main contribution is to relate UW to some very well known regular language classes. We first show that the Striclty Locally Testable languages are strictly included in UW. After noticing that UW is not closed under taking the complement, we prove that the class of languages for which both the language and its complement are in UW exactly coincides with those languages that are Definite or Reverse Definite Secondly, we prove that deciding if a regular language given by a DFA is in UW can be done in quadratic time. We also show that this is optimal unless the Strong Exponential Time Hypothesis (SETH) fails. © 2025, CC BY.

Cloud computing is a reasonably distributed computing with heterogeneous computing resources. Resource sharing, convenience of resources that correspond to the needs and a lot of box-management issues facing the cloud. Here, during this paper, analysis and comparison of varied existing algorithms of service brokers and load equalization algorithms in cloud computing. To check the implementation of existing algorithms, varied modeling tools were developed, for instance, a Cloud Analyst. The performance of the present policies of the service broker is compared by considering total response time and execution time in data center. © 2020 IEEE.
