Trajectory tracking of zebrafish is an important requirement in studying neurological disorders and developing new psychoactive drug. However, many challenges emerge for stable tracking, since zebrafish are similar in appearance, occlusion, agile, non-linear in moving and easy to swarm, all of which will lead to mistrack for multiple fish. And there is no precedent for tracking zebrafish through embedded edge artificial intelligence device. To overcome these difficulties, we present a tracking system for zebrafish based on RK3588-S. First, We construct an embedded edge AI hardware system consisting of two cameras driven by the RK3588-S, one for the front view and the other for top view of the fish. Then, we develop a 2D tracking algorithm based on YOLOv5 and the Observation-Centric Simple online and real-time tracking (OC-SORT) algorithm, which are transplanted to the RK3588-S for tracking the top and front views of the fish at the edge device. Compared with the previous methods, our method has fewer ID exchanges and highly real-time. Moreover, we apply the MQTT mechanism to establish communication links between the edge and the cloud to reliably transmit data to the cloud. The correspondence between cloud server and embedded AI is 1: N. Finally, we design a multi-view data fusion association algorithm to fuse the data of the two views in the cloud, which are further utilized to build the 3D tracklets of the zebrafish.

The fifth generation (5G) mobile network is a new generation of broadband mobile communication technology with the potential to address the increasing demands of new user services and applications that have stringent low latency and high bandwidth requirements. Besides the enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) which is an evolution of broadband services from previous generations, the ultra reliable low latency communication (URLLC) service comes with stringent delay requirements that are needed to support new applications like autonomous vehicles, augmented/virtual reality, etc. Mobile or multiple access edge computing (MEC) emerged to provide services and computing resources for users at the network edge to provide faster access speeds and lower end-to-end delays. To better meet user needs and maximize resource utilization, network resources need to be allocated and managed efficiently. Admission control for user requests is one of the methods used that can effectively prevent network congestion, thereby improving the overall performance of the system. In this paper, we propose a RED-based Admission Control with Latency Considerations (REDAL) algorithm for user admission control that aims to increase throughput, meet users’ delay requirements and reduce packet discard rate. By explicitly accounting for user traffic delay constraints and bandwidth requirements, we are able to meet the strict delay constraints of URLLC traffic while meeting the bandwidth requirements of eMBB traffic. We validate our approach in an MEC scenario to demonstrate high resource utilization and also keeping the request discard rate below 20%.

Understanding the Bad Development Practices of Android Custom Permissions in the Wild

Android system provides application developers with the ability to define custom permissions, which serve to regulate the sharing of resources and functionalities with other applications. However, developers' improper development practices can render the permission mechanism ineffective, facilitating easy exploitation by attackers. This paper presents a comprehensive examination of the problematic practices surrounding custom permissions employed by developers, referred to as Bad Practices of Custom Permissions (BPCP issues). To accomplish this, we conducted an empirical study and identified nine common BPCP issue patterns that can lead to various adverse consequences, such as installation failures, crashes, and even component hijacking. To automatically identify these patterns of bad practices, we devised PERMEAGRE, a static analysis tool. Employing PERMEAGRE, we performed a large-scale analysis of 83,085 applications obtained from seven major app markets, aiming to detect instances of BPCP issues. The results revealed that more than 26% of the analyzed apps contained at least one issue, and a significant number of apps had garnered millions of downloads. Our analysis delved into the underlying causes of these issues. Consequently, this analysis sheds light on the potential threat landscape associated with bad practices in custom permissions, emphasizing the urgent requirement for effective mitigation strategies. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

The manual annotation of perfectly aligned labels for cross-modal retrieval (CMR) is incredibly labor-intensive. As an alternative, the collection of co-occurring data pairs from the Internet is a remarkably cost-effective way, but which, inevitably induces the Partially Mismatched Pairs (PMPs) and therefore significantly degrades the retrieval performance without particular treatment. Previous efforts often utilize the pair-wise similarity to filter out the mismatched pairs, and such operation is highly sensitive to mismatched or ambiguous data and thus leads to sub-optimal performance. To alleviate these concerns, we propose an efficient approach, termed UCPM, i.e., Uncertainty-guided Cross-modal retrieval with Partially Mismatched pairs, which can significantly reduce the adverse impact of mismatched data pairs. Specifically, a novel Uncertainty Guided Division (UGD) strategy is sophisticatedly designed to divide the corrupted training data into confident matched (clean), easily-identifiable mismatched (noisy) and hardly-determined hard subsets, and the derived uncertainty can simultaneously guide the informative pair learning while reducing the negative impact of potential mismatched pairs. Meanwhile, an effective Uncertainty Self-Correction (USC) mechanism is concurrently presented to accurately identify and rectify the fluctuated uncertainty during the training process, which further improves the stability and reliability of the estimated uncertainty. Besides, a Trusted Margin Loss (TML) is newly designed to enhance the discriminability between those hard pairs, by dynamically adjusting their soft margins to amplify the positive contributions of matched pairs while suppressing the negative impacts of mismatched pairs. Extensive experiments on three widely-used benchmark datasets, verify the effectiveness and reliability of UCPM compared with the existing SOTA approaches, and significantly improve the robustness in both synthetic and real-world PMPs. The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and edge computing applications has heightened the demand for efficient resource allocation and pricing mechanisms. Effective pricing strategies play a crucial role in optimizing resource utilization, reducing latency, and ensuring fair resource distribution among users. Both auction theory and game theory have emerged as fundamental economic frameworks for designing pricing mechanisms in edge computing. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of pricing strategies that leverage both auction and game theory, systematically categorizing existing research based on auction mechanisms and game-theoretic models. Unlike previous surveys that focus solely on auction-based pricing, this work integrates game-theoretic perspectives, providing a holistic analysis of strategic interactions in edge computing resource allocation. Furthermore, we discuss key challenges, emerging trends, and future research directions aimed at enhancing efficiency, fairness, and privacy protection in cloud-edge collaborative computing environments. © 2014 IEEE.

With the rise in societal pressures, depression and anxiety have increasingly become prominent mental health conditions impacting people’s lives. To enhance the efficacy of automatic detection for these disorders, we have developed an experimental framework called the Voluntary Facial Expression Mimicry(VFEM). This framework led to the creation of the VFEM dataset, which supports related research endeavors. Subsequently, we introduce the LI-FPN designed specifically for the automatic identification of depression and anxiety disorders. The LI-FPN comprises two core components: the Learning and Imitation Module(LIM) and the Spatio-temporal Feature Pyramid Network(STFPN). Within the LIM, we leverage sequence features to facilitate comprehensive feature extraction through learning and imitation steps. The STFPN is designed to focus on outliers in multi-scale features for further screening. Compared with traditional attention methods, LI-FPN is more suitable for processing sequence data features and small sample datasets. Upon training using the VFEM dataset, the LI-FPN achieves impressive accuracies: 0.850 for depression detection, 0.835 for anxiety detection, and 0.786 for co-occurrence detection of depression and anxiety. We present GauKGT5, a sequence-to-sequence model proposed for knowledge graph completion (KGC). Our research extends the KGT5 model, a recent sequence-to-sequence link prediction (LP) model. GauKGT5 takes advantage of textual characteristics inherent in the knowledge graph, exhibiting a small model size. However, KGT5’s proficiency in link prediction necessitates the ensemble with a knowledge graph embedding model, which itself poses challenges due to its substantial size and expense. By integrating the Gated Attention Unit into the KGT5 model and directly applying it to the encoder-decoder structure, we achieve improved contextual dependency capturing within the sequence, resulting in enhanced prediction accuracy, accelerated training speed, and enhanced computational efficiency. At the same time, we introduce parallel computing as a means to enhance the efficiency of model training and inference within the XPU distributed computing environment.

The social network-based recommendation model use social network information to mitigate data sparsity issues and improve the accuracy of recommendation models. However, In most social network-based recommendation algorithms, the social neighbors' contributions are difficult to distinguish from the central user's, neglecting hidden correlations in social infor-mation. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a graph-based contrastive learning framework for social-enhanced recommendation (SoGCLR) that utilizes implicit social information captured by a new social relation attention mechanism, en-rich user representations, and improve model robustness through graph-based contrastive learning. Specifically, the paper captures the degree of contribution of each neighbor in the social graph to the central user through a social relation attention layer, thus obtaining hidden correlations in social information, and further integrates this with user information in the user-item interaction graph to enrich user representations. In addition, the paper incorporates graph-based contrastive learning into the recommendation task using cross-layer contrastive learning, calculating contrastive loss and mapping nodes with similar but different exposure rates to nearby regions to mitigate exposure bias issues. Results from Ciao and Epinions demonstrate that SoGCLR reduces RMSE and MAE by 1.33% to 1.84% compared with baseline models.

Post-hoc explanations are important for people to understand the predictions of explanation models. One class of methods in post-hoc explanation is the generation of counterfactuals, where a hypothetical example is obtained by perturbing the inputs to show how one could obtain a different prediction from the decision model. Counter-factual explanations should satisfy several properties: One is that counterfactuals generated under specific scenarios and constraints should be feasible for users, i.e., they should accommodate different causal constraints. The other is that it is more desirable for users to have a wider variety of viable examples, i.e., counterfactual diversity. To this end, we propose a parallelizable method based on gradient optimization. We partition the input feasible domains, perform counterfactual generation independently for each feasible domain, and then parallelize the counterfactual generation process for each feasible domain. Experimental results show that our approach effectively improves the diversity, sparsity, and proximity of the generated counterfactual instances on the public datasets Adult-Income, Lending-Club, German-Credit, and COMPAS compared to other models.

Group recommendation involves comprehensively considering various aspects, including members and items, to predict the overall interests of a group and recommend suitable items through a recommendation system. With the rapid evolution of the Internet, online group activities have become increasingly prevalent, making group recommendation a highly discussed topic within the realm of recommendation systems. However, current research in group recommendation still confronts the following challenges. Firstly, a predominant portion of group recommendation research focuses solely on aggregating group-level information, neglecting the valuable contribution of higher-order member-level insights to group recommendation. Moreover, some aggregation strategies overly prioritize fairness, thereby disregarding common real-world patterns. Secondly, previous studies have primarily relied on aggregating individual member interests to establish group preferences, lacking a holistic consideration of group dynamics. To tackle these challenges, this study introduces an innovative approach by implementing multi-channel hypergraph convolution within the member perspective. This approach aims to effectively extract higher-order insights from members by utilizing a member information enhancement module. By establishing group interconnections based on similarity and employing an adaptive fusion network to amalgamate multiple viewpoints, a final representation is derived. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model surpasses baseline models by 3% to 4% in terms of hit rate and accuracy, validating the efficacy of our approach.
