A novel reduction method for type-2 uncertain normal critical values and its applications on 4D profit transportation problem involving damageable and substitute items

In this paper, we developed and investigated some four-dimensional profit maximization transportation problems considering damageablity and substitutability, where the parameters are of a type-2 normal uncertain variable in nature. Here, unit transportation cost, distances of the paths, fixed charges, rate of breakability, availability, demands, capacities of conveyances, the unit selling price, unit purchasing cost, unit procurement cost are regarded as type-2 normal uncertain variables. Two models are formulated based on two separate criteria of the substitution items. We use a critical value-based reduction method to reduce type-2 normal uncertain variables into type-1 normal uncertain variables and then apply some properties of uncertainty theory to convert the profit transportation parameters into deterministic form. The two deterministic models are solved using the optimization software named LINGO -18.0. A real-life numerical example and optimal results are presented here to show the application of the proposed model and the proposed reduction method. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited.

Context: Cyber-physical systems (CPS) are increasingly self-adaptive, i.e. they have the ability to introspect and change their behavior. This self-adaptation process must be considered when modeling the safety and security aspects of the ***: This study collects and compares security attacks and safety hazards on self-adaptive systems (SAS) described in the literature. In addition, mitigation and treatment strategies as well as the modeling and analysis approaches are ***: We conducted a systematic literature review on 21 selected papers. The selection process involved a database search and snowballing methodologies. The coding scheme to analyze the content of the papers was obtained through our research questions, existing domain-specific taxonomies, and open ***: Safety and Security are not jointly modeled in the context of self-adaptive systems. The adaptation process is often not considered in the attack and hazard analysis due to naïve assumptions and modeling. The proposed approaches are mostly verified and validated through ***: A thorough and joint modeling approach for safety and security in self-adaptive systems is still an open challenge that needs to be addressed. There are many research papers devoted to the state identification problem of finite state machines (FSMs) which are widely used for analysis of discrete event systems. A deterministic complete reduced FSM always has a homing sequence (HS) but a number of non-deterministic FSMs not necessarily have a preset HS;nevertheless, those FSMs can still have an adaptive HS. Moreover, adaptive HS can be shorter than the preset. If each state can be an initial state of a complete FSM, i.e., an FSM is non-initialized, then a shortest adaptive HS (if it exists) has polynomial length in the number of FSM states. We show that it is not the case for weakly-initialized FSMs: such FSMs can have a shortest adaptive HS of exponential length in the number of FSM states/transitions. However, the experimental evaluation shows that the non-polynomial upper bound for a shortest adaptive HS was never reached for randomly generated weakly-initialized two-input FSMs. © 2020 IEEE.

The number of annual scientific publications is growing year by year, which has led to the accumulation and formation of large databases. This increases the complexity of the search for relevant articles. Modern search engines leverage keyphrases to improve the performance of search results. Keyphrases (or keywords) are a set of single or multi-word expressions which provide a very compact summary of contents and describe the overall topic of a document. Implementation of keyphrase extraction can be varied for specific-domain databases. This motivated us to evaluate these methods on a database of influenza scientific literature. In this work, we considered 9 well known methods for extracting keyphrases. Our preliminary results show txhat graph-based methods which employ topics outperform others using our database. We also determined that influenza-related papers can be grouped into three general topics: public health & medical care; molecular biology & immunology; and phylogenetic & epidemiological studies.

This study proposes a novel approach to fuzzy N-soft sets for handling cases where membership degree and grade are not related. In the standard model of fuzzy N-soft sets, membership degree and grade are assumed to be directly proportional. This assumption may not hold true in real-world situations, so a more flexible and nuanced approach is necessary. The proposed approach includes two novel algorithms for decision-making problems involving fuzzy N-soft sets. As a result, it is able to be adaptable and sensitive when addressing uncertainties in real-world scenarios, with a particular focus on identifying and sanctioning cyber harassment on social media platforms. Additionally, an innovative perspective and approach to decision-making problems involving fuzzy N-soft sets is introduced by extending an established selection process that prioritizes the dominant parameter, resulting in more precise and dependable outcomes. Our study offers an effective tool for decision-making in various fields, including e-commerce, social media, and product reviews. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper is to integrate among solid transportation problem, budget constraints and carbon emission with probable maximum profit. The limits of air pollution and climate variation are solely dependent by exerting CO2 gas and rest greenhouse gases due to myriad transportation system. Henceforth, it is our apt mission to minimize carbon emission for pollution free environment. Again transportation system with single objective is hardly applicable to the situation with more than one criterion. Therefore multi- objective decision making is incorporated for designing real-life transportation problem. Due to time pressure, data limitation, lack of information or measurement errors in practical problems, there exist some hesitations or suspicions. Based on the fact, decision maker considers indeterminacy in the designed problems. To overcome the restriction on occurrence and non-occurrence of fuzzy and intuitionistic fuzzy, neutrosophic set is very important and suitable to accommodate such general structure of problems. Therefore neutrosophic environment with neutrosophic linear programming, fuzzy programming and global criterion method are profiled to search the compromise solution of the multi- objective transportation problem (MOTP). Thereafter, the performance of the considered model is useful by evaluating a numerical example;and then the derived results are compared. Finally sensitivity analysis and conclusions with upcoming works of this research are stated hereafter. © 2021, CC BY.

In this paper, a method of high order IIR filter design is proposed in which the coefficients in the canonical binary number system representation are searched by the simulated annealing algorithm. The high-quality IIR filters are designed using the all-pass filter stages, methods of masking filters and multiplied delays. It was proven, that if the coefficients of the multiplierless filter have no more than three summands in their representation, then its pipelined implementation in FPGA has the highest clock frequency. The use of the VHDL language in all the steps of the filter design helps to speed-up and improve the filter optimization. © 2020 IEEE.

The details of future failures of systems that are serially produced are important for the remanufacturing departments to frame an optimal strategy for the post series supply. The existing one-dimensional and two-dimensional reliability prediction models predict field failures as a function of time based on the stress which the components/systems experience in the field until failure. In day-to-day situations the failure forecasts depend on many external factors like registration delay, which is the delay between the production of a system and its registration in market, reporting delay, which is the delay between the field failure and its reporting time, the export of vehicles to other countries or permanent damage caused to the vehicles. The improvement procedures are integrated into the existing reliability forecast models to reduce the incompleteness of the warranty data due to the influence of external factors using MATLAB. The verification process is to compare the forecasted field failures by the existing models with the actual field failures. The prognosis is carried out based on different failures data sets. With the help of sales data from Original Equipment Manufacturers, the forecasted failures Year to Date are verified. Remanufacturing, a popular term in the automotive industry, helps to reduce the need for raw materials, increase profitability, is an effective solution to the challenges of postal items and also benefits the environment. For the remanufacturing department, the reliability and failure rate of serial products is particularly important, and therefore the accurate prediction of failure rates is also important. It must be ensured that the product meets its reliability requirements. Existing one, two and three dimensional reliability prediction models predict field failures as a function of time, based on the stress experienced by the components/systems in the field until failure. The existing models have been extended to include the parameters that allow us to predict the reliability of refurbished systems. Improvements such as registration delays, reporting delays and the corrected candidate calculation, which deals with whether the product is still within the warranty period after the observation period, are present in the models and are applied to the systems. This reduces the incompleteness of warranty data due to the influence of external factors with MATLAB. The reliability of systems can be predicted with the lifetime prediction and further conclusions can be drawn for future development. With the increasing number of IoT devices, there is a growing need for bandwidth to support their communication. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of available bandwidth due to preallocated bands for various services. To address this issue, Cognitive Internet of Things (CR-IoT) enables devices to optimize their efficiency and enhance their communication capabilities by intelligently accessing available bandwidth. This is achieved through the use of soft sensing metrics, where devices continuously monitor the RF environment and transmit data opportunistically in overlay mode if a free channel is detected, or in underlay mode if not. In this paper, a soft sensing metric based hybrid transmission framework is proposed for CR-IoT devices to meet the data rate requirement for the smart city applications. The efficacy of this approach is demonstrated through simulation results.
