Data mining has become an important and active area of research because of theoretical challenges and practical applications associated with the problem of discovering interesting and previously unknown knowledge from very large real world database. These databases contain potential gold mine of valuable information, but it is beyond human ability to analyze massive amount of data and elicit meaningful patterns by using conventional techniques. In this study, DNA sequence was analyzed to locate promoter which is a regulatory region of DNA located upstream of a gene, providing a control point for regulated gene transcription. In this study, some supervised learning algorithms such as artificial neural network (ANN), RULES-3 and newly developed keREM rule induction algorithm were used to analyse to DNA sequence. In the experiments different option of keREM, RULES-3 and ANN were used, and according to the empirical comparisons, the algorithms appeared to be comparable to well-known algorithms in terms of the accuracy of the extracted rule in classifying unseen data.

This paper presents a mobile robot aided self deploying wireless sensor network aiming to detect radiation leaks and to measure radiation levels, and explains design considerations to prolong network life. Special attention is given to the factors which are important for the specific requirements of radiation leak detection. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) provide numerous benefits to applications with low duty cycle, such as environmental monitoring, event detection, etc. However, the realization of these potential benefits directly depends on energy efficient and reliable communication and coordination capabilities of the deployed system. In this study, challenges of WSNs, deployment strategies using mobile robots, and energy harvesting techniques to maximize lifetime of WSNs are discussed. Also, a comparison of two different exploration strategies is shown with the results of our own application developed in C#. Main contributions of this study are discussions on mobile robot aided WSN deployment strategies and energy harvesting techniques to maximize WSN lifetime.

In this regard, numerous steer by wire (x-by-wire) concepts were developed over the years. Most of them considered only standard single microcontroller system architectures with a low degree of reliability according to international reliability and safety standards. This paper presents a novel concept for a degradable safety controller for steer-by-wire systems. When some suppliers offer trade credit periods and price discounts to retailers in order to increase the demand of their products, retailers have to face different types of discount offers and credits within which they have to take a decision which is the best offer for them to make more profit. The retailers try to buy perfect-quality items at a reasonable price, and also they try to invest returns obtained by selling those items in such a manner that their business is not hampered. In this point of view, we consider an economic order quantity (EOQ) model for various types of time-dependent demand when delay in payment and price discount are permitted by suppliers to retailers. The models of various demand patterns are discussed analytically. Some numerical examples and graphical representations are considered to illustrate the model.

A hierarchical classification based road extraction approach is proposed in this paper. In order to extract road network, a spectral based-classification associates a confidence score to each region in the image. This score is used to extract road region and its constraints for each iteration of the hierarchy. Road localization is based on Radon transform and expert knowledge. Classical logic and classical set theorems are not sufficient enough when it is necessary to deal with complex decision making problems which also involve human experiences. Some researches suggest that senior management usually makes intuitive decisions in the process of selecting the candidates in political parties which brings out the need to derive a new efficient, robust and applicable method. In this study, the qualitative characteristics and their significance level which could be used for the candidate selection process in political parties are determined. The candidate selection process consisting vague inputs is analyzed by fuzzy logic methodology and a quantitative final score has been determined for the candidate. It has been shown that the model provided some realistic and promising results which could enable further studies to derive more optimized and enhanced models for similar purposes.

As semi-conductor technologies move down to the nanometer scale, leakage power has become a significant component of the total power consumption. In this paper, we present a leakage-aware modulo scheduling algorithm to achieve leakage energy saving for applications with loops on Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) architectures. The proposed algorithm is designed to maximize the idleness of function units integrated with the dual-threshold domino logic, and reduce the number of transitions between the active and sleep modes. We have implemented our technique in the Trimaran compiler and conducted experiments using a set of embedded benchmarks from DSPstone and Mibench on the cycle-accurate VLIW simulator of Trimaran. The results show that our technique achieves significant leakage energy saving compared with a previously published DAG-based (Directed Acyclic Graph) leakage-aware scheduling algorithm.
