An EPQ Model of Deteriorating Items under Partial Trade Credit Financing and Demand Declining Market in Crisp and Fuzzy Environment

In this manuscript, an Economic production quantity (EPQ) model have been formulated for deteriorating items under partial trade credit policy with crisp and fuzzy demand. For fuzzy demand we take demand as a triangular fuzzy number & we consider upper α 1 − cut & lower α 1 − cut of this fuzzy number. Then the annual inventory cost of retailer is divided into two parts upper α 1 − cut of annual inventory cost & lower α 1 − cut of annual inventory cost. We use weighted sum method to convert multi objective to a single objective. Here we have to derive optimum cycle time so as to minimize the total average cost. Numerical examples are used to illustrate all results obtained in this paper. Finally the model is solved by Generalized Reduced Gradient(GRG) method and using LINGO(12) software.

Emphysema is a chronic lung disease that causes breathlessness. HRCT is the reliable way of visual demonstration of emphysema in patients. The fact that dangerous and widespread nature of the disease require immediate attention of a doctor with a good degree of specialized anatomical knowledge. This necessitates the development of computer-based automatic identification system. This study aims to investigate the deep learning solution for discriminating emphysema subtypes by using raw pixels of input HRCT images of lung. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is used as the deep learning method for experiments carried out in the Caffe deep learning framework. As a result, promising percentage of accuracy is obtained besides low processing time.

Emerging technologies for improving embryo selection: a systematic review

Background: Embryo selection procedure is one of the critical success factors in in vitro fertilization treatment. Various embryo selection technologies have emerged within the past decade. These technologies are either used in combination with morphology or introduced to replace the conventional morphological evaluation. This review aims at investigating the effect of these novel embryo selection technologies on in vitro fertilization success rates. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was performed among full-text English articles in the PubMed database. Study selection was based on the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Clinical effectiveness of the selected studies was measured in terms of implantation, pregnancy, live birth, and multiple pregnancy rates. Results: Five studies were identified that fitted the inclusion criteria. In these studies, researchers used aneuploidy screening, metabolomic profiling, and time-lapse imaging analysis as the new technologies. Among these studies, the one that conducted a randomized controlled trial of a commercial time-lapse imaging system demonstrated significant improvement in implantation rate. Conclusion: Studies using emerging technologies for embryo assessment provide promising results in retrospective analysis. On the other hand, randomized controlled trial studies that test the efficacy of novel embryo selection techniques in clinical practice failed to demonstrate a consistent improvement in the resulting success rates. This review provides a snapshot of the most recent literature on embryo assessment and embryo selection studies. Our findings show that there is a lack of comparative measurements and analyses that are able to assess benefits of the novel technologies in the field of embryo selection.

In recent years, robots have started to become more commonplace in our lives, from factory floors to museums, festivals and shows. They have started to change how we work and play. With an increase in the population of the elderly, they have also been started to be used for caregiving services, and hence many countries have been investing in the robot development. The advancements in robotics and wireless communications has led to the emergence of autonomous caregiving robot teams which cooperate to accomplish a set of tasks assigned by human operators. Although wireless communications and devices are flexible and convenient, they are vulnerable to many risks compared to traditional wired networks. Since robots with wireless communication capability transmit all data types, including sensory, coordination, and control, through radio frequencies, they are open to intruders and attackers unless protected and their openness may lead to many security issues such as data theft, passive listening, and service interruption. In this paper, a secure web-based communication framework is proposed to address potential security threats due to wireless communication in robot-robot and human-robot interaction. The proposed framework is simple and practical, and can be used by caregiving robot teams in the exchange of sensory data as well as coordination and control data.

Due to the networking expertise, services and technical support of telecommunications operators, Smart Grid (SG) operators prefer telecommunications operators for their communications needs instead of creating private networks. In this paper, the use of Next Generation Networks (NGNs) by telecommunications operators to provide services to transnational SG operators for SG applications is evaluated. NGNs are all IP networks which are packet based and use IP to transport the various types of traffic such as data, voice, video, and signalling over converged fixed and mobile networks. The main idea of transnational SG operators is simple. By creating a huge single infrastructure for energy, more than one countries and nations can be powered at once. For this, it is not needed to install very huge power plants. Simply creating a complex network of power grid connections to each participating country is enough. The results of a set of simulation studies are given to show the efficiency of the NGN-based communication infrastructure for SG applications in terms of important network performance metrics. The results show that NGN-based communication infrastructures can carry packets based on their priority levels and bandwidth allocations in order to meet the specific requirements of SG applications.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) when combined with various energy harvesting solutions managing to prolong the overall lifetime of the system and enhanced capabilities of the communication protocols used by modern sensor nodes are efficiently used in are efficiently used in Smart Grid (SG), an evolutionary system for the modernization of existing power grids. However, wireless communication technology brings various types of security threats. In this study, firstly the use of WSNs for SG applications is presented. Second, the security related issues and challenges as well as the security threats are presented. In addition, proposed security mechanisms for WSN-based SG applications are discussed. Finally, an easy- to-implement and simple attack detection framework to prevent attacks directed to sink and gateway nodes with web interfaces is proposed and its efficiency is proved using a case study.

Although Smart Grid (SG) transformation brings many advantages to electric utilities, the longstanding challenge for all them is to supply electricity at the lowest cost. In addition, currently, the electric utilities must comply with new expectations for their operations, and address new challenges such as energy efficiency regulations and guidelines, possibility of economic recessions, volatility of fuel prices, new user profiles and demands of regulators. In order to meet all these emerging economic and regulatory realities, the electric utilities operating SGs must be able to determine and meet load, implement new technologies that can effect energy sales and interact with their customers for their purchases of electricity. In this respect, load forecasting which has traditionally been done mostly at city or country level can address such issues vital to the electric utilities. In this paper, an artificial neural network based energy consumption forecasting system is proposed and the efficiency of the proposed system is shown with the results of a set of simulation studies. The proposed system can provide valuable inputs to smart grid applications.

Nowadays, many major efforts and interests are focused on providing better services for some elders and patients who have to live alone, while they are exposed to different dangers during their daily life activities such as falling. The necessity to reduce the negative consequences of falling, whether related to physical or psychological health or to financial encumbrances, by providing an immediate help and a continuous remote monitoring, drives a corresponding meaning to develop a reasonable safety-related monitoring and detecting system of the human motion with respect to the privacy and the simplicity. In this paper, a conceptual prototype of safety-related platform for monitoring human activities by mean of limited number of acceleration and rotation sensors is presented. Additionally, the proposed approach that adopts the artificial neural networks to overcome the challenges emerged by reducing the number of motion sensors and to compensate the missing data is also introduced. Moreover, the required procedures for collecting training and testing data are also summarized in the last section.

This paper presents a multi-level approach for self-organization of in cyber-physical system resources. Cyber-physical system consists of physical part and cyber part. For implementation of joint actions by devices in physical part, they have to interact in cyber part. It is proposed to use the smart space technology for exchange information between these devices in cyber part of cyber-physical system. Smart Space -- is a computational environment consisting of multiple heterogeneous services (electronic and computational devices, Internet pages, data based, etc.) which has intelligent behavior, can proactively provide information taking into account current situation. Smart spaces allow unifying different levels of services, implement self-organization of services in each level, and providing politics from upper to lower level. Self-organization on every level is implemented based on ontology-based context management techniques and ontology matching method that provides semantic interoperability between interacted robots. Discussed in the paper case study solve the task of self-organization three types of robots based on politics from operation planning services and context situation in smart space. For the scenario implementation the Smart-M3 information sharing platform is used. It provides easy-to-use interfaces for information sharing through the RDF ontologies and publish / subscribe mechanism for connected services.
