We summarise our previous work on the data parallel, functional array processing language SaC. Its compiler technology is geared towards highly runtime-efficient support for shared memory multiprocessors and, thus, is readily applicable to today's off-the-shelf multicore systems. The use of induction motors is widespread in industry. Many researchers have studied the condition monitoring and detecting the faults of induction motors at an early stage. Early detection of motor faults results in fast unscheduled maintenance. In this study, a new artificial immune based support vector machine algorithm is proposed for fault diagnosis of induction motors. Support vector machines (SVMs) have become one of the most popular classification methods in soft computing, recently. However, classification accuracy depends on kernel and penalty parameters. Artificial immune system has abilities of learning, memory and self adaptive control. The kernel and penalizes parameters of support vector machine are tuned using artificial immune system. The training data of support vector machine are extracted from three phase motor current. The new feature vector is constructed based on park's vector approach. The phase space of this feature vector is constructed using nonlinear time series analysis. Broken rotor bar and stator short circuit faults are classified in combined phase space using support vector machines. The experimental data are taken from a three phase induction motor. One, two and three broken rotor bar faults and 10% short circuit of stator faults are detected successfully.

This paper describes a new solution method applied to the problem initializing DAEs using the Modelica language. Modelica is primarily an object- oriented equ-tion-based modeling language that allows specification of mathematical models of complex natural or man-made systems. Major features of Modelica are the multidomain modeling capability and the reusability of model components corresponding to physical objects, which allow to build and simulate highly complex systems. However, initializing such models has been quite cumbersome, since initial equations have to be pro-vided at the system level, where the user needs to know details on the underlying transformation and index-reduction algorithms, that in general are applied to simulate a Modelica model.

We present novel concepts, technologies and potentials of optical data communication, especially for future computer architectures. The WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) and the optical wiring technologies are explained in detail. Experimental results of tunable optical filters, which play a major role in WDM systems, are reported. New concepts for novel optical interconnectors and novel miniaturized lasers for direct generation of green light are proposed as examples for possible next generation components to improve the performance of optical communication based computer architecture.

The environment's protection is one of the most actual problems, because of the fact that pollution is a major danger for planet life. The environment's pollution is caused because some pollution agents are in too large a quantity for a long time and they become dangerous for human health, for the flora, for the fauna and for the constructions too. The pollution sources can be classified as natural and artificial sources. The quality of the environment from a specific area at a certain time can be determined by: a) the air quality; b) the water quality; c) the soil quality; d) the health level of the population; e) the decrease of animals and plants species that are accounted for. In the paper there are given the urban traffic on the principal routes inside the Cluj‐Napoca municipality. The traffic is the constituent part of the research activity of the national project having the destination the monitoring of the noise and vibrations into an urban agglomeration, applied to the Cluj ‐ Napoca town. The present paper contains our study regarding the diminution of the urban noise using the phonique barrier walls conformed to the EMPARA procedure, which is based on the simplified of the standard method for the measurements and computes of the surface traffic inside the urban agglomeration, as they are given in SRM2 laws (Netherlands standards). There are made the studies taking into account all the parameters that characterize the the noise and they are graphical representations having the “n‐1” constant parameters and only one having the time variation law. In this way we are obtained the influence of each parameter in the diminution of the urban noise using the phonique barrier walls. In addition we realized a measurement for a real barrier wall inside the Oradea town. The comparison between them was enough good, that means our theoretical study is correct and characterizes the noise pollution and its diminution on the urban agglomeration. The measurement device was a CENTER 322 Sound Lever Meter. This study contains the two steps for the “noise map” asked for the Romania integration in the European Union, and was made by the researchers of the Oradea University under the direction of the Prof. Dr. Ing. Mariana ARGHIR from the Technical University of Cluj‐Napoca.
