The purpose of this study is increasing the usability of the user interfaces (UI) by ensuring their compliance with Gestalt principles. The developed method of evaluating the compliance of the UI with Gestalt principles provides: quantitative evaluation of the compliance of the UI with each of the Gestalt principles;quantitative evaluation of the compliance of the UI to all Gestalt principles in the complex;selection of elements of the UI, which meet to the largest and smallest quantity of Gestalt principles;the formation of the set of UI elements, which require further re-work in order to provide them the compliance with Gestalt principles;increase of compliance of the UI with the Gestalt principles (by 15% for the real UI of webpage for selling the jewelry). © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, a method of high order IIR filter design is proposed in which the coefficients in the canonical binary number system representation are searched by the simulated annealing algorithm. The high-quality IIR filters are designed using the all-pass filter stages, methods of masking filters and multiplied delays. It was proven, that if the coefficients of the multiplierless filter have no more than three summands in their representation, then its pipelined implementation in FPGA has the highest clock frequency. The use of the VHDL language in all the steps of the filter design helps to speed-up and improve the filter optimization. © 2020 IEEE.

To remanufacture automobile systems, it is important to understand the future failure rate of the serially produced systems. In addition, remanufacturing departments need the information about the number of cores to remanufacture, the condition of these cores, as well as the number of replacement systems the market needs. Based on the existing univariate, bivariate and multivariate models a new improved forecasting model is developed, which considers practical factors like export of the vehicle to other countries, damage of the entire vehicle, reporting delay between production and in-market time or between vehicle failure and failure reporting time. This paper presents all necessary tools to achieve the improvement and its implementation in MATLAB. Copyright © 2019 European Safety and Reliability Association.

Nowadays the information of future rates of systems produced in series appears to be crucial to the production plan, especially for remanufacturing departments. Several questions need to be answered: the number of cores to remanufacture the condition of those cores as well as the number of replacement system the market requires. Based on a bivariate prognosis model, a multivariate model is developed to take more variables of stress in field into account. What's more, the fitting process has been optimized by using neural networks. This paper presents all necessary tools to perform a multivariate lifetime prognosis as well as the implementation in MATLAB. © 2019 European Safety and Reliability Association. A polydyne cam and knife follower system are studied. The effect of cam angular velocity and follower guides internal dimensions on Lyapunov parameter is considered. Wolf algorithm is used to quantify largest Lyapunov exponent parameter. The impact between the cam, follower and the two guides is occurred due to the impulse and momentum phenomenon. Positive value of Lyapunov exponent parameter indicates to non-periodic motion and chaos for the follower. Non-periodic motion is examined using power spectrum analysis of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and phase plane diagram. The numerical simulation has been done using SolidWorks software. Follower movement is processed experimentally through an infrared 3-D camera device with a high precision optical sensor. A polydyne cam and knife follower system are studied. Microbial biofilm build-up in water distribution systems can pose a risk to human health and pipe material integrity. The impact is more devastating in space stations and to astronauts due to the isolation from necessary replacement parts and medical resources. As a result, there is a need for coatings to be implemented onto the inner region of the pipe to minimize the adherence and growth of biofilms. Lubricant-infused surfaces has been one such interesting material for anti-biofouling applications in which their slippery property promotes repellence to many liquids and thus prevents bacterial adherence. Textured and porous films are suitable substrate candidates to infuse and contain the lubricant. However, there is little investigation in utilizing a nanoporous thin film as the substrate material for lubricant infusion. A nanoporous film has high porosity within the structure which can promote greater lubricant infusion and retention. The implementation as a thin film structure aids to reduce material consumption and cost. In our study, we utilized a well-studied nanoporous thin film fabricated via layer-by-layer assembly of polycations and colloid silica and calcination for greater stability. The film was further functionalized to promote fluorinated groups upon the surface and pores of the film, which then could interact with a fluorinated lubricant. The pristine nanoporous film was characterized to determine its morphology, thickness, wettability, and porosity. The lubricant-infused film was then tested for its lubricant layer stability upon various washing conditions and its performance against bacterial biofilm adherence as a result of its slippery and thus anti-biofouling property. The research results of the Love wave propagation in the semi-space contact area and in a thin layer are presented. The dependences, which allow analyzing the effect of various conditions on the Love wave dispersion, as well as the dependence of the phase velocity on various parameters: the thickness of the layer, which is coated in semi-space;the relationship between the material characteristics of the media (densities, elastic moduli) are defined. The influence of film thickness on the value of phase velocity at a given frequency, but at different ratios between the density of the media are studied. © 2022 IEEE.

The bipolar fuzzy set and interval-valued bipolar fuzzy set efficiently analyse real-world problems where for each input of an object, there has counter information. This study's main objective is to lay a foundation for considering a new approach to the bipolar fuzzy hybrid operators tool applied in a realistic frame that contains uncertainties. In this view, some mixed aggregation operators, namely, the hybrid bipolar fuzzy weighted averaging geometric (H-BFWAG), hybrid bipolar fuzzy order weighted averaging geometric (H-BFOWAG), hybrid interval-valued bipolar fuzzy weighted averaging geometric (H-IVBFWAG), and hybrid interval-valued bipolar fuzzy order weighted averaging geometric (H-IVBFOWAG) operators are generated in bipolar fuzzy environment. A decision making approach is developed to build the multi-criteria decision making model. A numerical example is considered to study the different effects on various Indian economic sectors in the COVID-19 environment. Managerial implications are highlighted in between many industrial sectors on which the Indian economy depends and the country's gross domestic product depends on their inter-relationship. This study investigates COVID-19's impact on society and the economy in the Indian context. A comparative investigation is introduced with some pre-existing operators and the TOPSIS (technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution) approach to justify the proposed method. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

The increasing prevalence of botnet attacks in IoT networks has led to the development of deep learning techniques for their detection. However, conventional centralized deep learning models pose challenges in simultaneously ensuring user data privacy and detecting botnet attacks. To address this issue, this study evaluates the efficacy of Federated Learning (FL) in detecting IoT malware traffic while preserving user privacy. The study employs N-BaIoT, a dataset of real-world IoT network traffic infected by malware, and compares the effectiveness of FL models using Convolutional Neural Network, Long Short-Term Memory, and Gated Recurrent Unit models with a centralized approach. The results indicate that FL can achieve high performance in detecting abnormal traffic in IoT networks, with the CNN model yielding the best results among the three models evaluated. The study recommends the use of FL for IoT malware traffic detection due to its ability to preserve data privacy. © 2024 Global IT Research Institute - GIRI.

The principles of solving the multicriteria problem of retail marketing for the rational choice of the location of trade enterprises (alternatives) based on the classical method of analysis of Saaty hierarchies, using the theory of fuzzy sets, are considered. The choice of the best alternative is carried out on the basis of the arguments of the maxima (abbreviated arg max), as the arguments, which are evaluated based on the operation of intersection of fuzzy sets of criteria. This approach is very practical from the point of view of using the experience and intuition of marketing workers and requires minimal costs to solve similar problems. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
