Uncovering emotion sequence patterns in different interaction groups using deep learning and sequential pattern mining

Background: Investigating emotion sequence patterns in the posts of discussion forums in massive open online courses (MOOCs) holds a vital role in shaping online interactions and impacting learning achievement. While the majority of research focuses on the relationship between emotions and interactions in MOOC forum discussions, research on identifying the crucial difference in emotion sequence patterns among different interaction groups remains in its infancy. Objectives: This research utilizes deep learning and sequential pattern mining to investigate whether there are differences in emotion sequence patterns across different groups of learners who exhibit various types of interactions in online discussion forums. Methods: Data from a comprehensive array of sources, including log files, discussion texts and scores from 498 learners in online discussion forums, were collected for this study. The agglomerative hierarchical algorithm is used to classify learners into groups with different levels of interactions. Additionally, we implement and evaluate multiple deep learning models for detecting different emotions from online discussions. Relevant emotion sequence patterns were identified using sequence pattern analysis and the identified emotion sequence patterns were compared across different groups with different levels of interactions. Results and Conclusions: Using an agglomerative hierarchical algorithm, we classified learners into three distinct groups characterized by different levels of interactions: high, average and low level. Leveraging the bi-directional long short-term memory model for emotion detection yielded the highest predictive performance, with an impressive F-measure of 94.01%, a recall rate of 93.83% and an accuracy score of 95.01%. The results also revealed that learners in the low-level interaction group experienced more emotion transition from boredom to frustration than the other two groups. The differences of each student become a challenge for educators in delivering learning materials. More often than not, students often find it difficult to process study materials. Conventional study-based learning may not always have a profound impact on students. Consideration of interactive multimedia as a tool for student-centered learning has not been widely discussed in scientific research. In this paper, the authors investigate interactive multimedia using Kolb’s experiential learning model in improving students’ cognitive abilities. This study uses a pre-experimental method and one-group pre-and post-test design type with the research population in class XI RPL and a sample of SMK students in Bandung. The results show that the application of interactive multimedia using Kolb’s experiential learning model is effective in improving students’ cognitive abilities. On the other hand, it is found that combining abstract learning materials with interactive visuals and activities that involve students’ participation could create exceptionally positive feedback from students. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Participating local community in cultural heritage management has always been a concern since the Venice Charter so far (1964). In addition, the Faro Convention (2005) shifted focus from cultural heritage values to the values of cultural heritage for society. In this case, there is required to design a simple method and tool in order to facilitate the interaction between local people and authority. This paper introduces a method and tool (iCommunity) that are now using in community-centered approach in the Bisotun World Heritage Site. The main goal of this application is to find a simple and applicable method and tool for inclusion the local community in decision-making processes in cultural heritage management. The proposed model is designed based on the general public participation principles, on the one hand, and the users' need and requirement in the world heritage site, on the other hand. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. A standard of evaluating digital marketing practices is a challenging study to do. Many studies to do to find such a standard. Here, the study aims to develop a decision model as a standard to measure the performance of digital marketing activity conducted by several Indonesian companies. The fuzzy logic is the main method to develop the model via five selected parameters. Based on the expert’s evaluation, the constructed model can simulate indicating that the practices of Indonesia’s media company in digital marketing reach a performance value of 58.55 with a similarity value of 52.35% if compared with the manual calculation.

AlphaFold2 and related computational systems predict protein structure using deep learning and co-evolutionary relationships encoded in multiple sequence alignments (MSAs). Despite high prediction accuracy achieved by these systems, challenges remain in (1) prediction of orphan and rapidly evolving proteins for which an MSA cannot be generated; (2) rapid exploration of designed structures; and (3) understanding the rules governing spontaneous polypeptide folding in solution. Here we report development of an end-to-end differentiable recurrent geometric network (RGN) that uses a protein language model (AminoBERT) to learn latent structural information from unaligned proteins. A linked geometric module compactly represents Cα backbone geometry in a translationally and rotationally invariant way. On average, RGN2 outperforms AlphaFold2 and RoseTTAFold on orphan proteins and classes of designed proteins while achieving up to a 106-fold reduction in compute time. These findings demonstrate the practical and theoretical strengths of protein language models relative to MSAs in structure prediction.

Because of the advancement of new technologies and the popularity of mobile devices, this study was designed to identify whether apps have a representative influence on companies' brand image. To fulfill this objective, descriptive research based on the structural equation model was carried out with the help of the statistical software Adanco. The study was conducted in Brasilia and applied in a virtual environment in the Google forms platform. The link was made available and disseminated to students of one university and through the WhatsApp and Facebook social networks, having 350 mobile device users as participants. The questionnaire was validated with α=0.81. The results of this research suggest that applications can influence 30.5% of a brand's image, thus raising the discussion that mobile applications will soon have equal or even greater importance than a website and social networks, tools that were once trends and are now essential requirements for organizations. Thus, for a company to be successful, it must not only be seen as a company with high performance and quality standards, but it must also represent a solid brand with a good reputation in the market and create and cultivate an image that connects emotionally with its consumer public. © 2022 The Authors. Low-Rate Denial of Service (LDoS) attacks, an emerging breed of DoS attacks, present a formidable challenge in terms of their detectability. Within the realm of network security, these attacks cast a substantial shadow over the availability and integrity of services. This study seeks to delve into the intricate mechanics of LDoS attacks and explore the landscape of developed detection methodologies. Employing bibliometric analysis, we employ a multifaceted approach to gather research insights pertaining to LDoS attack detection. This approach encompasses the examination of evolving research trends, scrutiny of widely cited scientific publications within the same domain, identification of prolific researchers shaping the field, and a judicious selection of reputable publishers for dependable information acquisition. Furthermore, our study undertakes a meticulous categorization and classification of previously proposed LDoS detection methods documented in well-established scientific literature. This endeavor not only provides a more profound comprehension of the evolutionary trajectory and thematic thrusts within LDoS attack detection research, but it also facilitates the identification of gaps and directions for future exploration. The culmination of these analytical efforts culminates in a comprehensive framework. This contribution manifests through structured categorization, classification, and a forward-looking research roadmap, which collectively serve as valuable tools for both current and aspiring researchers engaged in LDoS attack detection. In summary, this research not only delves into the complexities of LDoS attacks and their mechanisms but also augments the current understanding of detection capabilities. Diabetes mellitus is one of the most pressing health concerns because so many people are afflicted by its disabling symptoms. Factors such as age, excess body fat, insufficient physical activity, a history of diabetes in one's family, a sedentary lifestyle, an unhealthy diet, hypertension, etc., all increase the likelihood of developing diabetes mellitus. Health complications are more common in people with diabetes, including cardiovascular disease, renal failure, stroke, blindness, and nerve injury. To validate a diagnosis of diabetes, hospitals typically perform a battery of procedures on the patient. Big data analytics has many vital applications in the healthcare sector. Numerous large computer systems are used in the healthcare sector. With the help of big data analytics, researchers can sift through mountains of data in search of previously unseen patterns and insights. Current techniques have a poor degree of precision in classification and forecast. While previous research has focused on factors such as glucose, body mass index, age, insulin, etc., the proposed model takes these into account and also the other factors that may be more relevant to the development of diabetes. The newer sample is superior to the older one based on categorization accuracy. A workflow algorithm for diabetes prognosis is also required to improve the accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
