A Graph-Assisted Digital-Twin-Driven Multiagent Shared Offloading for Internet of Vehicles

Vehicular edge computing (VEC) allows vehicles to process part of the tasks locally at the network edge while offloading the rest of the tasks to a centralized cloud server for processing. A massive volume of tasks generated by the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) leads to buffer overflow that causes higher latency. Elevating latency, in turn, can increase network energy consumption. Both higher latency and energy consumption lead to a degradation of network performance. Therefore, VEC design requires a balance between latency and energy consumption tradeoff. To reduce overwhelming amount of offloading to edge servers, a cooperative cluster-based shared offloading strategy has been proposed in this work. We use digital twin technology in VEC for managing and adapting to environmental dynamic changes. Then, we leverage Lyapunov (Ly) optimization to transform the stochastic offloading problem into a more manageable deterministic form. Finally, we present a decentralized coordination graph (CG)-driven Ly-based multiagent deep deterministic policy gradient (CG-LyMADDPG) algorithm that trains agents toward energy efficient optimal offloading policy while maintaining queue stability at a maximum delay constraint. The experimental result shows that the proposed learning significantly outperforms the baseline algorithms for energy savings while maintain queue stability. © 2014 IEEE.

When data privacy is imposed as a necessity,Federated learning(FL)emerges as a relevant artificial intelligence field for developing machine learning(ML)models in a distributed and decentralized *** allows ML models to be trained on local devices without any need for centralized data transfer,thereby reducing both the exposure of sensitive data and the possibility of data interception by malicious third *** paradigm has gained momentum in the last few years,spurred by the plethora of real-world applications that have leveraged its ability to improve the efficiency of distributed learning and to accommodate numerous participants with their data *** virtue of FL,models can be learned from all such distributed data sources while preserving data *** aim of this paper is to provide a practical tutorial on FL,including a short methodology and a systematic analysis of existing software ***,our tutorial provides exemplary cases of study from three complementary perspectives:i)Foundations of FL,describing the main components of FL,from key elements to FL categories;ii)Implementation guidelines and exemplary cases of study,by systematically examining the functionalities provided by existing software frameworks for FL deployment,devising a methodology to design a FL scenario,and providing exemplary cases of study with source code for different ML approaches;and iii)Trends,shortly reviewing a non-exhaustive list of research directions that are under active investigation in the current FL *** ultimate purpose of this work is to establish itself as a referential work for researchers,developers,and data scientists willing to explore the capabilities of FL in practical applications.

Using electronic health records (EHR) data for predicting the condition of patients who are in need of emergency care is a promising application of machine learning. With the help of machine learning, complex problems of identification of patterns can be solved with ease and accuracy when proper machine learning model is implemented. This paper uses EHR data to build an end-to-end machine learning pipeline for predicting the outcome of emergency care patients. As a machine learning process, the pipeline includes data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, data set training and testing, evaluation, and deployment. By using EHR data in this pipeline, the model has been trained and tested on a large dataset of many patients information with different types of machine learning algorithms to improve and get the best prediction accuracy. This pipeline can aid in managing primary care patients efficiently and effectively with the implementation of best suitable machine learning algorithm at the time of urgency. By implementing the model on the EHR dataset, an accuracy of more than 75\% is obtained which indicates the efficiency of the machine learning process in the process of identifying patients who need the emergency care more than the general patients when taken to the primary care or emergency. © 2023 IEEE.

The pandemic creates a more complicated providence of medical assistance and diagnosis procedures. In the world, Covid-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS Cov-2), and plague are widely known pandemic disease desperations. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic tragedies, various medical diagnosis models and intelligent computing solutions are proposed for medical applications. In this era of computer-based medical environment, conventional clinical solutions are surpassed by many Machine Learning and Deep Learning-based COVID-19 diagnosis models. Anyhow, many existing models are developing lab-based diagnosis environments. Notably, the Gated Recurrent Unit-based Respiratory data Analysis (GRU-RE), Intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-based Covid data Analysis (Thermal Images) (I-UVAC), and Convolutional Neural Network-based computer Tomography Image Analysis (CNN-CT) are enriched with lightweight image data analysis techniques for obtaining mass pandemic data at real-time conditions. However, the existing models directly deal with bulk images (thermal data and respiratory data) to diagnose the symptoms of COVID-19. Against these works, the proposed spectacle thermal image data analysis model creates an easy and effective way of disease diagnosis deployment strategies. Particularly, the mass detection of disease symptoms needs a more lightweight equipment setup. In this proposed model, each patient's thermal data is collected via the spectacles of medical staff, and the data are analyzed with the help of a complex set of capsule network functions. Comparatively, the conventional capsule network functions are enriched in this proposed model using adequate sampling and data reduction solutions. In this way, the proposed model works effectively for mass thermal data diagnosis applications. As computer systems become more complex, evaluating performance requires tracking various hardware performance counters that capture the system's internal activities. While these counters provide valuable insights, their growing number makes it challenging to identify the most relevant ones for performance analysis. In this paper, we investigate the correlation between performance counter values and overall system performance, while also exploring the inter-correlation between different counters. Our findings demonstrate that specific counters are strongly correlated with key performance metrics and that significant redundancy exists among counters. By leveraging these relationships, we propose a method for selecting a small, representative set of performance counters. This streamlined set can further be used to accurately predict performance score across various workloads and system configurations. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

A supervised ranking model, despite its effectiveness over traditional approaches, usually involves complex processing - typically multiple stages of task-specific pre-training and fine-tuning. This has motivated researchers to explore simpler pipelines leveraging large language models (LLMs) that can work in a zero-shot manner. However, since zero-shot inference does not make use of a training set of pairs of queries and their relevant documents, its performance is mostly worse than that of supervised models, which are trained on such example pairs. Motivated by the existing findings that training examples generally improve zero-shot performance, in our work, we explore if this also applies to ranking models. More specifically, given a query and a pair of documents, the preference prediction task is improved by augmenting examples of preferences for similar queries from a training set. Our proposed pairwise few-shot ranker demonstrates consistent improvements over the zero-shot baseline on both in-domain (TREC DL) and out-domain (BEIR subset) retrieval benchmarks. Our method also achieves a close performance to that of a supervised model without requiring any complex training pipeline. © 2024 Association for computational Linguistics.

High reliance on autonomous systems necessitates efficient and reliable data exchange through Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication to have appropriate and stable network performance in dynamic vehicular environments. With heuristic approaches, Dijkstra's algorithm, and Deep Q-Networks (DQN), several methods are proposed for optimizing latency reduction, packet delivery rate improvement, and power efficiency in the direction of V2I communications. However, these approaches suffer from important challenges: low adaptability of the network to real-time dynamics, suboptimal resource usage, and difficulties in scalability towards complex large-scale networks. In this scenario, we propose a framework that incorporates a GNN inside autonomous systems for V2I communication to optimize performance. The GNN will process real-time graph features, including signal strength, packet loss, and mobility speed, as it dynamically changes in adaptation to the evolution of network behaviour and other functions. This work shows the superiority of the proposed GNN model for the efficiency of experimentally conducted simulations compared to the current models;it achieved latency reduced by up to 28%, 5-10% PDR, and 20% energy efficiency across the various scenarios with urban, rural, highway, and suburban networks. The results validate robustness and scalability for practical implementations by the proposed approach in real-world autonomous systems. Further development is possible with this framework: for example, the use of multi-agent reinforcement learning techniques within cooperative decision-making and the enhancement through blockchain-based security mechanisms to ensure the integrity of the data. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we outline the design and implementation of a portable massively parallel asynchronous solver for time-dependent partial differential equations (PDEs). The solver is implemented using Kokkos library for portability across different node architectures and is coupled with the communication-avoiding algorithm that relaxes the communication across nodes, thus improving the scalability. Asynchrony-tolerant finite difference schemes for spatial derivatives along with the low storage Runge-Kutta scheme for time integration are used to achieve high-order accuracy. The efficacy of the implementation is demonstrated using a mini-app that solves the three-dimensional diffusion problem. © 2024 IEEE

With the rapid development of the fifth-generation wireless communication systems, a profound revolution in terms of transmission capacity, energy efficiency, reliability, latency, and connectivity is highly expected to support a new batch of industries and applications. To achieve this goal, wireless networks are becoming extremely dynamic, heterogeneous, and complex. The modeling and optimization for the performance of realworld wireless networks are extremely challenging due to the difficulty to predict the network performance as a function of network parameters, and the prohibitively huge number of parameters to optimize. The conventional network modeling and optimization approaches rely on drive test, trial-and-error, and engineering experience,which are labor intensive, error-prone, and far from optimal. On the other hand, while the research community has spent significant efforts in understanding the fundamental limits of radio channels and developing physical layer techniques to operate close to it, very little is known about the performance limits of wireless networks, where millions of radio channels interact with one another in complex manners. This paper reviews the very recent mathematical and learning based techniques for modeling and optimizing the performance of real-world wireless networks in five aspects, including channel modeling, user demand and traffic modeling, throughput modeling and prediction, network parameter optimization, and IRS empowered performance optimization, and also presents the corresponding notable performance gains.
