Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) are emerging and have huge prospects since they have various applications in oceanography, environmental monitoring, and underwater communication. These networks contain low-cost submerged sensors that are mostly connected by way of acoustic media. Sensors are relatively new to underwater research, and thanks to recent technological development, they can now function at different depths. In this article, the author explores what UWSNs must do to operate smoothly by exploring the basic features that they must meet for further development. Real-time Underwater communication remains an open problem due to underwater acoustic channels important for undersea data acquisition, undersea navigation, and undersea remote sensing. To mitigate such challenges and in light of the use of new technologies, researchers seek to improve the reliability and reliability of UWSNs. Finally, there is great potential with UWSNs for investigating and exploiting the underwater environment by improving scenarios of different domains in line with subaqueous data and communications. © 2024 IEEE.

Emerging resistive RAM (ReRAM) devices can in-situ execute vector-matrix-multiplication (VMM) and is able to achieve energy-efficient in-memory scientific computing. However, the peripheral separated S&Hs and ADCs for row buffering and sensing in conventional designs are the system bottleneck. We propose an ADC-less all-in-one processing-in-ReRAM design that enables the precharge once, readout multiple-bits (PORM) functionality for overlapping the tRCD latencies of different-significance result bits sensed out on the same bitline. Specifically, to support PORM sensing, we propose a cascaded-feedback bitline sensing architecture for VMM and a buffering-and-sensing-collocated sense amplifier elemental design with the bitline and the storage node fully decoupled for enabling conflict-free column accesses. We further propose cross-level inter-leaving mechanism for successive column VMM accesses to reduce the overall latency through improving the hardware spatiotemporal utilization. Experimental results show that our proposed design achieves 297% overall performance improvement and 85.8% energy reduction, compared with an aggressive baseline. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). Blockchain, as an emerging technology, has been widely studied by the researchers from academia and industry. Alliance chain, as an important form of blockchain, is often applied to smart grids, smart city and the Internet of Things to ensure the authenticity and reliability of data. Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) algorithm is a key technology to ensure data consistency in the alliance chains, and it plays a critical role in improving system performance, security and scalability. However, with the increase of the number of nodes and transactions, the ability of PBFT to process transactions is challenged. In particular, PBFT’s linear transaction processing also limits its ability to process transactions in parallel. In view of the problems existing in PBFT, this paper studies the consensus mechanism optimization, and puts forward a consensus mechanism with better performance. In this paper, in order to solve the problem of weak parallel transaction processing capability of PBFT, we propose a novel Consensus Mechanism based on Dynamic Sharding (CMDS). CMDS firstly constructs a dynamic fragmentation model based on consistent hash algorithm to segment nodes, and then constructs a voting consensus mechanism based on reputation weight to achieve global state consistency. The experimental results show that CMDS can significantly improve the ability of parallel transaction processing and the performance of blockchain system. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2025.

As the application scenarios of multi-rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) become more and more extensive, the field of target tracking and accurate landing has become one of the research hotspots. In order to realize the accurate autonomous landing of UAV, considering the increasingly mature visual navigation technology, this paper proposed a hierarchical landmark based on nested rectangles and its relative positioning algorithm, and designed a set of autonomous landing system for the mobile platform of quadrotor UAV. The landmark has a high recognition rate of different heights and good expansibility. The algorithm has high computational efficiency and low performance requirements for image processing equipment, thus the system has good accuracy and robustness. The simulation and flight experiment show that the proposed algorithm can effectively realize the accurate autonomous landing of UAV. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Electronic medical record (EMR) systems are pivotal in modern healthcare for digitizing patient records and improving clinical workflows. However, persistent usability challenges hinder their effective adoption and user satisfaction. This study employs a comprehensive user-centered design approach to identify and address usability issues in one such EHR, an open-source system named openEMR. Our main objective was to assess openEMR’s usability through several usability metrics. In addition to a summative usability test with 10 participants, we employed usability inspection (i.e., a heuristic evaluation) to generate additional findings using multiple methods. The results from the summative usability test provide a comprehensive perspective on openEMR’s performance. In addition to task-specific observations, participants offered insights into openEMR’s overall usability through a debrief interview. Through quantitative surveys, usability testing, qualitative interviews, and a heuristic evaluation, this study identified critical usability issues, proposes targeted solutions, and discusses implications for enhancing EMR systems in healthcare settings. © 2024 Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

The increasing prevalence of integrated on-chip optoelectronic devices has identified serious issues regarding inter-device transmission and coupling losses, highlighting an urgent need for on-chip waveguide amplifiers to compensate for these losses. Compared with other Er-based optical materials, erbium silicate is ideally suited to high-efficiency on-chip amplifiers and lasers because of its extremely high Er3+concentration(1022cm-3). Nevertheless, erbium silicate must be annealed above 1000℃ to crystallize and activate the Er3+, which damages other on-chip optoelectronic components and is not conducive to device ***, we report a low-fabrication-temperature, high-luminescence-efficiency gain material by adding Bi2O3to an erbium-ytterbium silicate mixed film. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed film crystallizes at 600℃ while the activation of Er3+is also achieved, which is the lowest activation temperature of on-chip waveguide amplifier to our knowledge. This material forms the basis for a new chip-scale waveguide amplifier design, with a theoretical multi-energy-level model of Bi-Er-Yb in the mixed thin films used to analyze its signal enhancement properties. We achieve a peak on-chip gain of 23 dB in a 3.3-mm-long waveguide under the pump and signal powers of 300 mW and 1 μW, respectively. These results highlight the potential of the proposed material for realizing on-chip amplifiers and lasers for large-scale nanophotonic integrated circuits.

Given many copies of an unknown quantum state ρ, we consider the task of learning a classical description of its principal eigenstate. Namely, assuming that ρ has an eigenstate |〉 with (unknown) eigenvalue λ > 1/2, the goal is to learn a (classical shadows style) classical description of |〉 which can later be used to estimate expectation values 〈|O|〉 for any O in some class of observables. We consider the sample-complexity setting in which generating a copy of ρ is expensive, but joint measurements on many copies of the state are possible. We present a protocol for this task scaling with the principal eigenvalue λ and show that it is optimal within a space of natural approaches, e.g., applying quantum state purification followed by a single-copy classical shadows scheme. Furthermore, when λ is sufficiently close to 1, the performance of our algorithm is optimal-matching the sample complexity for pure state classical shadows. © 2024 D. Grier, H. Pashayan & L. An advanced hybrid renewable energy collecting and storage system prototype that utilizes water flow as its primary power source. Additionally, the system incorporates an energy monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The device effectively harnesses energy from the movement of water, storing it for future use in low-voltage applications. It demonstrates a maximum daily energy capture capacity of about 100Wh. The energy monitoring system, based on the Internet of Things (IoT), enables the real-time and remote monitoring of energy harvesting and usage. We thoroughly assessed the energy harvesting component across different situations to identify the crucial parameters that impact energy output. The results of our study demonstrate that several elements, including the spatial separation 'between the energy harvester and the water source, Water flow' speed, sensor orientation, and sensor density, all play significant roles in determining the quantity of energy collected. This research shows that it is possible to integrate IoT technology with hydropower renewable energy systems. It provides significant perspectives on enhancing energy extraction efficiency in practical scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

In VANETs, the important and effective applications of vehicle localization include safety and communication applications. Thus, it is difficult to get very accurate localization in the dynamic and often very fluctuating environment of VANET. This research responds to this challenge with a keen thrust on improving vehicle localization using the Mobility Data Verification process. The primary goal of this work is to achieve high accuracy of vehicle positioning within VANET by checking the coherence of mobility data of moving vehicles. Hence, we present a concept that builds upon Mobility Data Verification to provide real-time location details from vehicles. Both GPS and onboard sensors feed this method, which uses a multi-level verification to flag out or eliminate the errors of deliberately spoofed data points. We use simulations to evaluate and validate the effectiveness of the proposed verification approach. As the proposed system, our previously developed and fine-tuned weighted localization (OWL) strategy does so. The performance evaluation results suggest that our proposed solution is feasible to distinguish automobiles that are not trustworthy and improve the performance of the localization algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

Rice, a major stape food, is crucial for both sustenance and the living of millions of farmers. Detecting rice leaf diseases is vital to prevent widespread crop losses, safeguarding farmers' incomes and global food supply. While current detection systems face accuracy and robustness challenges, deep learning models, particularly the EfficientNetB0, show promise. Despite their sensitivity to noise and variations in leaf appearance, ongoing research addresses these issues. This study introduces the use of EfficientNetB0 for accurate classification, incorporating a fine-tuning strategy in a brief five-epoch training period. This approach optimally balances model adaptation and prevents overfitting, leveraging the deep neural network's ability to capture complex hierarchical features. The limited fine-tuning duration addresses potential risks while maximizing the model's robust features. This unique amalgamation of advanced architecture and tailored training strategy aims to achieve efficient and accurate disease classification. The research signifies a step toward revolutionizing rice disease detection, emphasizing the importance of striking a balance between cutting-edge methodologies and practical considerations in the pursuit of agricultural sustainability. Before Fine Tuning the Training Accuracy was 98.46%, Validation Accuracy was 99.15% and Test Accuracy was 98.44%.After Fine Tuning there was a significant increase in the accuracy. The Training Accuracy came to be 99.77%, Validation Accuracy is 99.43% and Test Accuracy: 99.12% © 2024 IEEE.
