The sim TD (Safe and Intelligent Mobility: Test Field Germany) research project is another step towards bringing Car-to-X technology to marketability. One of its envisioned applications is a Traffic Information System (TIS) based on self-generated maps for vehicles not equipped with digital maps. To assure reliable operation, the function itself, its performance and the effect of its input parameters was simulatively evaluated before it was validated on real vehicles. In this paper we demonstrate how to adequately parameterize and evaluate such a TIS. We find feasible values for the input parameters for the creation of self-generated maps to ensure solid operation of the function. We further contribute to the community and other projects using similar TIS deployments by introducing applicable metrics for TIS evaluation in general and show our findings for the simTD research project.

The solitonic behaviors of coupled-resonator optical waveguide doped by two-level atoms are studied from a quantum mechanical *** phase space analysis and Galilean invariance,we prove that immobile and moving bright soliton can exist in this *** results are helpful for the study of optical communication especially in slow-light engineering.

Dispersion properties of an optical medium can be greatly changed using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and other nonlinear effects. Thus, the group velocity of light pulse can be much smaller (greater or even negative) than light speed in vacuum, which is called slow (fast) light. Slow and fast light are very useful in optical processing, such as optical buffer, switching, and storage devices. Usually, slow and fast light cannot be generated simultaneously in the same medium. In this paper, we propose applicable level structures to generate controllable slow and fast light simultaneously at two frequencies, with the same polarization.

Recently, people begin to analyze the dynamics of an extended system which incorporates two qubits and their respective reservoirs and successfully explain the process of information transmission in Markovian regime [1, 2]. Inspired by their notable results, we study the entanglement dynamics of the composite system via a nonperturbative method [3] with both symmetrical and asymmetrical atom-reservoir couplings. We find that with the introduction of asymmetry, the quantitative criteria for the birth and death phenomena in both Markovian [1] and non-Markovian regime lose their validity. Besides, we investigate an interesting issue that the composite system is composed of a Markovian subsystem and a non-Markovian one.

We propose a novel way to eliminate the imperfection induced by the noise of experimental equipments and environment in a physical realization of true random number *** operating such post processing on the data,the autocorrelation coefficient and bias contained in the original data are successfully *** entropy of our random sequence is also approaching to the ideal limit and we finally obtain a 150G bps generation rate of random bits.

New vehicular safety standards require the development of pedestrian collision detection systems that can trigger the deployment of active impact alleviation measures from the vehicle prior to a collision. In this paper, we propose a new visionbased system for near-range pedestrian collision detection. The low-level system uses a bio-inspired visual neural network, which emulates the visual system of the locust, to detect visual cues relevant to objects in front of a moving car. At a higher level, the system employs a neural-network classifier to identify dangerous pedestrian positions, triggering an alarm signal. The system was tuned via simulation and tested using recorded video sequences of real vehicle impacts. The experiment results demonstrate that the system is able to discriminate between pedestrians in dangerous and safe positions, triggering alarms accordingly.

Saratoga is a protocol for fast file transfers across dedicated links in private networks, using small amounts of feedback for loss recovery. It is in use to download large amounts of imaging data from remote-sensing satellites, where the link environment is highly asymmetric and up-links are constrained. However, Saratoga lacks a rate-control mechanism to allow fair share with co-existing flows for simultaneous competing transfers, or for across the congested Internet where it must coexist fairly with TCP. TFRC, a self-and TCP-Friendly Rate Control mechanism, can be adopted for Saratoga and leverage its existing protocol information. Use of TFRC normally requires significant changes in protocol operation, including additional data in feedback. We design a sender-based TFRC for Saratoga, needing only simple modifications within the sender and using only existing feedback information. This sender-based TFRC is shown to share the bottleneck-bandwidth fairly under various network conditions, allowing Saratoga to be adapted for shared links or for the congested Internet, while still supporting the asymmetric environments that Saratoga was originally developed for.

The algorithms in this paper exploit optimal input structure in interference networks and is a major advance from the state-of-the-art. Optimization under multiple linear constraints is important for interference networks with individual power constraints, per-antenna power constraints, and/or interference constraints as in cognitive radios. While for single-user MIMO channel transmitter optimization, no one uses general purpose optimization algorithms such as steepest ascent because water-filling is optimal and much simpler, this is not true for MIMO multiaccess channels (MAC), broadcast channels (BC), and the non-convex optimization of interference networks because the traditional water-filling is far from optimal for networks. We recently found the right form of water-filling, polite water-filling, for some capacity/achievable regions of the general MIMO interference networks, named B-MAC networks, which include BC, MAC, interference channels, X networks, and most practical wireless networks as special cases. In this paper, we use weighted sum-rate maximization under multiple linear constraints in interference tree networks, a natural extension of MAC and BC, as an example to show how to design highly efficiency and low complexity algorithms. Several times faster convergence speed and orders of magnitude higher accuracy than the state-of-the-art are demonstrated by numerical examples.

A highly energy efficient reconfigurable accelerator called CMA (Cool Mega-Array) is proposed. It consists of a large Processing Element (PE) array without memory elements for maintain result of ALU and configuration data, a small simple programmable micro controller for data management, and the data memory. Unlike traditional coarse grained reconfigurable processors, the power consumption for hardware context switching, storing intermediate data in registers, and clock distribution for them are eliminated from PE array which occupies large area of a chip. Configuration registers are collected to small area of micro controller. The data flow graph mapped on the PE array is static during execution. Various application programs can be implemented by making the best use of flexible data management instructions with the micro controller. When the delay time in the PE array is longer than the data handling time with the micro controller, the supply voltage for the PE array is scaled to reduce the power consumption without degrading the performance. In the opposite case, wave pipelining is applied to enhance PE array performance. A prototype chip CMA-1 with 8 × 8 PE array with 24-bit data width was fabricated in 2.1 × 4.2mm2 65-nm CMOS technology, and achieves 2.4-GOPS/11.2-mW sustained performance. This energy efficiency is comparable to that of the most energy efficient accelerators that have been reported. © 2011 IEEE.

Interference alignment (IA) has been well recognized as a promising technique to obtain a large multiplexing gain in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) interference channels. However, most of the existing IA schemes require global channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter to design precoding vectors, which causes a large amount of feedback bits. To reduce the feedback overhead, in this paper, we model the evolution and dynamic behavior of the CSI feedback rate control problem using the evolutionary game theory over orthogonal feedback channels with a total bandwidth constraint. The game utility is defined as the performance gain by CSI feedback minus the price as a linear function of the CSI feedback rate, subject to an overall bandwidth constraint. Then, an algorithm for the implementation of the evolution process is also presented. The proposed game-theoretic framework for modeling the interactions among the feedback of multiple users can be used to efficiently control the CSI feedback amount while achieving fairness among all the mobile receivers.
