REDUCTION OF CO2 EMISSION AS A RESULT OF THE USE OF 48-VOLT ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS IN PASSENGER CARS

The introduction of a new standard of 48-volt electrical systems in cars comes at an additional cost to the vehicle. Acceptance of these costs is justified because it becomes a way to achieve lower CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption. An important factor in favor of adopting 48-volt systems is the reduction in CO2 due to the use of a highly efficient 48-volt motor-generator unit coupled to a DC/DC converter. A methodology for testing new solutions to quantify CO2 savings and reductions therefore becomes crucial. This methodology must be capable of demonstrating the CO2 benefits primarily of the innovative technology proven in real-world driving conditions and with a large amount of realistic statistical data. The introduction of new eco-innovations must take into account the linkage and impact on other environmentally oriented ecoinnovative solutions. When implementing new technical solutions, a necessary aspect is the interaction with other innovations installed in vehicles with new electrical installation standards. Therefore, for the expected synergy of solutions to occur, two or more innovative technologies must be installed. Then the combined savings from one of them will affect the performance of the other technologies, and vice versa. The new technology of a high-efficiency 48-volt motor-generator unit cooperating with a 48V/12V DC/DC converter fits very well in creating interactions with other implemented solutions aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. The article discusses the problems of the introduced new technology of a high-efficiency 48-volt motor-generator unit cooperating with a 48V/12V DC/DC converter. The publication analyzes the impact of increasing the voltage rating of current passenger car installations to 48V. American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Neuroadaptive Containment Control for Nonlinear Multiagent Systems With Input Saturation: An Event-Triggered Communication Approach

In this article, a neuroadaptive event-triggered containment control strategy combined with the dynamic surface control (DSC) approach is proposed for nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) with input saturation. Based on the event-triggered communication mechanisms, the updates of neural network weight and controllers are implemented solely under triggering conditions of violation, which markedly reduces unnecessary communication resources and minimizes inefficient control costs compared with the traditional control method. Radial basis function neural networks (RBF NNs) are employed to handle the nonlinear uncertainties of MASs. Simultaneously, an adaptive compensatory mechanism is incorporated within the backstepping process to address the nonlinear effect posed by input saturation. Additionally, we demonstrate the system stability by extending the Lyapunov theorem to jump and continuous scenarios while excluding Zeno behavior, realizing that all followers can enter the convex hull constructed by leaders. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methodology is verified through application simulations. © 2013 IEEE.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is an infection that bases eternal visualization loss in patients with diabetes mellitus. With DR, the glucose level in the blood increases, as well as its viscosity, this results in fluid leakage into surrounding tissues in the retina. In other words, DR represents the pathology of capillaries and venules in the retina with leakage effects, being the main acute retinal disorder caused by diabetes. Many DR detection methods have been previously discussed by different researchers;however, accurate DR detection with a reduced execution time has not been achieved by existing methods. The proposed method, the Shape Adaptive box linear filtering-based Gradient Deep Belief network classifier (SAGDEB) Model, is performed to enhance the accuracy of DR detection. The objective of the SAGDEB Model is to perform an efficient DR identification with a higher accuracy and lower execution time. This model comprises three phases: pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. The shape adaptive box linear filtering image pre-processing is carried out to reduce the image noise without removing significant parts of image content. Then, an isomap geometric feature extraction is performed to compute features of different natures, like shape, texture, and color, from the pre-processed images. After that, the Adaptive gradient Tversky Deep belief network classifier is to perform classification. The deep belief network is probabilistic and generative graphical model that consists of multiple layers such as one input unit, three hidden units, and one output unit. The extracted image featuresare considered in the input layer and these images are sent to hidden layers. Tversky similarity index is applied in hidden layer 1 to analyze the extracted features with testing features. Disease diagnosis using non-invasive techniques is a key determinant in the improvement of outcomes in patients and the enhancement of precautionary health measures. The study focuses on the design and development of a nail-based detection application employing image processing techniques to detect diseases such as systemic disease, fungal disease, Leukonychia (White spots on nails) and Paronychia (Nail bed infection) through analysis of the patterns of the fingernails and other related symptoms. The developed system integrates several techniques, comprising a customized imaging application, a user-friendly interface, and software for real-time image processing and disease classification. A variety of algorithms proposed for image processing, such as Median filtering, Sobel Mask and HOG features, are designed to extract important features from nail images and then use machine learning models that match these features against a database of established markers of various diseases. Comprehensive testing utilizing an annotated dataset of nail images demonstrated the system's accuracy in classifying certain diseases, further showcasing its potential for possible usage as a proficient tool for early disease diagnosis. Thus, this application is easy to use, user-friendly interface, and provides advancements in diagnosing diseases both in clinical settings and in the comfort of one's home. The incorporation of this technology into routine clinical practice might facilitate the possibility of early diagnosis and early intervention, which could improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare system burdens. © 2024 IEEE.
