Optimizing abnormality detection in fundus images with Triplet-OS and orchard search optimization model

The accurate and early detection of abnormalities in fundus images is crucial for the timely diagnosis and treatment of various eye diseases, such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. The detection of abnormalities in fundus images using traditional methods is often challenging due to high computational demands, scalability issues, and the requirement of large labeled datasets for effective training. To address these limitations, a new method called triplet-based orchard search (Triplet-OS) has been proposed in this paper. In this study, a GoogleNet (Inception) is utilized for feature extraction of fundus images. Also, the residual network is employed to detect abnormalities in fundus images. The Triplet-OS utilizes the medical imaging technique fundus photography dataset to capture detailed images of the interior surface of the eye, known as the fundus and the fundus includes the retina, optic disk, macula, and blood vessels. To enhance the performance of the Triplet-OS method, the orchard optimization algorithm has been implemented with an initial search strategy for hyperparameter optimization. The performance of the Triplet-OS method has been evaluated based on different metrics such as F1-score, specificity, AUC-ROC, recall, precision, and accuracy. Additionally, the performance of the proposed method has been compared with existing methods. Few-shot learning refers to a process where models can learn from just a small number of examples. This method has been applied to reduce the dependency on deep learning [1]. The goal is for machines to become as intelligent as humans. Today, numerous computing devices, extensive datasets, and advanced methods such as CNN and LSTM have been developed. AI has achieved human-like performance and, in many fields, surpasses human abilities. AI has become part of our daily lives, but it generally relies on large-scale data. Shadow extraction and elimination is essential for intelligent transportation systems(ITS)in vehicle tracking *** shadow is the source of error for vehicle detection,which causes misclassification of vehicles and a high false alarm rate in the research of vehicle counting,vehicle detection,vehicle tracking,and *** of the existing research is on shadow extraction of moving vehicles in high intensity and on standard datasets,but the process of extracting shadows from moving vehicles in low light of real scenes is *** real scenes of vehicles dataset are generated by self on the Vadodara–Mumbai highway during periods of poor illumination for shadow extraction of moving vehicles to address the above *** paper offers a robust shadow extraction of moving vehicles and its elimination for vehicle *** method is distributed into two phases:In the first phase,we extract foreground regions using a mixture of Gaussian model,and then in the second phase,with the help of the Gamma correction,intensity ratio,negative transformation,and a combination of Gaussian filters,we locate and remove the shadow region from the foreground *** to the outcomes proposed method with outcomes of an existing method,the suggested method achieves an average true negative rate of above 90%,a shadow detection rate SDR(η%),and a shadow discrimination rate SDR(ξ%)of 80%.Hence,the suggested method is more appropriate for moving shadow detection in real scenes.

Smart home automation is protective and preventive measures that are taken to monitor elderly people in a non-intrusive manner using simple and pervasive sensors termed Ambient Assistive Living. The smart home produces a large volume of sensor activations to predict an elder’s health status to improve the quality of life and independent living. Machine learning techniques are very familiar and popular in recognizing single resident activities using such a sensor reading. However, multi-resident activities are more complex, and no correlation exists between sensor readings and activities. Recently deep learning and graphical models have been proposed to solve this problem, but it consumes more time to train the model. Moreover, models are primarily executed in parallel, or multi-resident activity recognition has been converted to single for classifying events. This paper proposes a Multi-label Multi-output Hybrid Sequential Model (MLMO-HSM), a feature engineering approach with a hybrid sequential model to recognize the multi-resident activities concurrently in the shortest time. Experimentation has been performed with various machine learning, graphical and deep learning models at the different sizes of the ARAS dataset to validate the efficiency of the proposed model in terms of activity recognition and computation time. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Robust steganographic approach using generative adversarial network and compressive autoencoder

Nowadays, social media applications and websites have become a crucial part of people’s lives;for sharing their moments, contacting their families and friends, or even for their jobs. However, the fact that these valuable data are transferred via the Internet and open channels, which are vulnerable to attacks and espionage, requires using defense methods to improve the security of data transmission. Recently, the progress of Deep Learning (DL) inspired researchers to use it with security methods such as steganography, the art of hiding secret data in unrelated content. DL and steganography combined enhanced the hiding properties, especially in the Coverless Image Steganography (CIS) methods. In this paper, we propose a Compressive Coverless Image Steganography (CCIS) model, which is a generated-based CIS, to improve the capacity and robustness of Steganography. This model uses the compressive autoencoder to compress the message, thus increasing the capacity, and uses the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) to generate a stego image from the compressed vector, thus enhancing concealment ability, besides using a regression model and optimization method to extract the data. Another version was designed to enable sending binary messages by replacing the compressive autoencoder network with a robust mapping rule. Experiments show that the proposed model could improve the characteristics of Steganography. Furthermore, the proposed model could extract binary messages with 256 bits from attacked stego images with 99% recovery accuracy. Thus, capacity and robustness were enhanced using our model with both images and text as secret messages. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Breast cancer is still a global health concern, chiefly affecting women, as it is one of the major causes of cancer mortality. For the therapy to be effective, early diagnosis of cancer is critical to raising the survival level and increasing the effectiveness of the procedure. The advancement in the applied technique of Machine Learning (ML) has brought further opportunities for early and effective diagnosis of breast cancer. This review paper provides insights into how different ML algorithms including the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Random Forests, and many more have contributed to the detection of breast cancer. These algorithms have proved effective in providing solutions to various medical data and imaging including early diagnosis and treatment. The paper also looks at the use of ML with precision medicine to show that these technologies will help minimize false diagnoses and offer better treatment options. This review consolidates recent works and advancements to emphasize the prospect of ML in breast cancer management and calls for more studies to enhance its implementation in practice © 2024 IEEE.

A nonlinear recurrent encoders for early detection of strep throat infection to prevent acute rheumatic fever

Rheumatic Fever or Acute Rheumatic Fever (RF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) are commonly suffered by people of all ages around the world. RF usually begins with strep throat infections, skin problems, joint pain etc. Clinical tests and medical informatics are useful to save patients from Streptococcus Group-A bacteria using medical treatments and detection mechanism. Clinical data based statistical analysis approaches assist medical diagnosis model in detecting diseases based on standard decision. Standard decision making frameworks are effective when using these approaches. Nevertheless, existing mechanisms cannot detect or predict the incidence of strep throat infection at an earlier stage based on unclear datasets or complex datasets. The recent computational healthcare informatics systems use Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques, but they are not sufficient in terms of their field integration. The proposed work implements a nonlinear recurrent auto encoder using complex data evaluation procedures to accurately detect and predict the strep throat infections accurately. In this regard, the proposed model builds on the technical features of Denoised Variational Stacked Auto Encoders (DVSE), nonlinear regression computations and Long Shot Term Memory (LSTM) to perform recurrent data analysis practices. Compared with the existing techniques such as Blood Serum Content Analysis model (BSCA), Smartphone based Strep Throat Detection (SSTD) approach and Logistic Regression Based RF Detection approach (LRRF), the multi-level medical data evaluation (throat images and blood samples) provides 10–15% more accuracy for strep throat detection. As shown in the implementation section, the proposed nonlinear recurrent system has the potential to detect strep throat infections early. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Deep Learning-Based Lung Cancer Histopathology Classification: Emphasizing Accuracy and Customisation

Lung cancer is a dangerous disease that can be fatal, and a correct diagnosis is essential for figuring out the best way to treat it. The optimum treatment for people with lung cancer requires the classification of the disease into its histological types, such as adenocarcinoma (ADC), small cell lung cancer (SCLC), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Each histological subtype has its features and may react differently to different types of medicine. So, knowing the exact subtype helps guide treatment choices and improve the patient's outcome. Lung cancer subtypes are necessary for personalized treatment. It helps doctors choose tumor-specific treatments such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, targeted drugs, and immunotherapies. Precise categorization improves prognosis, avoids needless medicines, and lets patients participate in clinical studies targeting their cancer subtype. Precision medicine improves lung cancer outcomes with accurate categorization. The current algorithms in this domain have shown deficiencies in performance criteria such as specificity, F-score, sensitivity, and precision in recognition. These limitations may stem from challenges such as the complexity and heterogeneity of histopathological images, variations in staining techniques, and the presence of confounding factors. Deep learning methods have made it easier to look at histopathology slides of cancer and see what's going on. Several studies have shown that convolutional neural networks (CNN) are essential for classifying histopathological pictures of different kinds of cancer, like brain, skin, breast, lung, and colon cancer. This study divides lung cancer images into three groups: normal, adenocarcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
