This research investigates the emerging domain of the Metaverse, a digital realm that is significantly influencing social interactions and economic landscapes. This study aims to investigate the complex variables that contribute to the economic valuation of virtual properties on the Decentraland platform, which is a famous Metaverse platform. Despite the growing significance of the Metaverse and its status as a prominent economic force, there is a noticeable lack of empirical research examining the distinct dynamics of land valuation within this context. The current corpus of scholarly work mostly focuses on valuations in real-world contexts, resulting in a significant knowledge gap about the specific factors that influence land prices in the Metaverse. This research seeks to address the existing vacuum in knowledge by doing a comprehensive literature review and platform analysis. The primary objective is to provide insights into the various elements that influence the financial prospects of Metaverse lands. The anticipated results of this study are expected to provide significant contributions to the comprehension of Metaverse economics. Additionally, these findings will serve as a foundation for future research endeavors that aim to explore the convergence of virtual and physical realms in relation to financial value. © 2024 IEEE.

The secure authentication of user data is crucial in various sectors, including digital banking, medical applications and e-governance, especially for images. Secure communication protects against data tampering and forgery, thereby bolstering the foundation for informed decision-making, whether managing traffic, enhancing public safety, or monitoring environmental conditions. Conventional visual cryptographic protocols offer solutions, particularly for color images, though they grapple with challenges such as high computational demands and reliance on multiple cover images. Additionally, they often require third-party authorization to verify the image integrity. On the other hand, visual cryptography offers a streamlined approach. It divides images into shares, where each pixel represented uniquely, thus allowing visual decryption without complex computations. The optimized multi-tiered authentication protocol (OMTAP), which is integrated with the visual sharing scheme (VSS), takes secure image sharing to the next level. It reduces share count, prioritizes image fidelity and transmission security, and introduces the self-verification of decrypted image integrity through asymmetric key matrix generators, thus eliminating external validation. Rigorous testing has confirmed OMTAP's robustness and broad applicability, thereby ensuring that decrypted images maintain their quality with a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 40 dB and full integrity at the receiver's end. © 2024 American Institute of Mathematical sciences. Soft actuators have many advantages, such as flexibility and safe interaction with the environment. Despite these advantages, they still lack the stiffness to carry the high load. The layer jamming mechanism can be applied to the actuator to increase stiffness, and a vacuum can control the stiffness of the mechanism. However, the typical jamming mechanism has a risk of air leakage, and vacuums are bulky to some systems. In order to solve this problem, we have developed a novel mechanical layer jamming for the cable-driven soft actuator in this paper. Our design uses the actuator body to generate the compression force to the layer at the middle of the actuator's body to increase the actuator's stiffness. The result shows the effectiveness of our mechanical layer jamming in increasing the stiffness of the actuator when adding the load to the tip of the actuator. In addition, we have applied our actuator to the soft gripper system, which successfully grasped various objects and changed the stiffness of the actuator. © 2025 IEEE.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a complex respiratory condition involving multifaceted molecular mechanisms. Differential gene expression analysis has identified genes with significant up-regulation and down-regulation in COPD patients compared to healthy controls, as well as those exhibiting high expression variability. However, relying solely on gene expression analysis is insufficient to fully understand these mechanisms. Therefore, in this study, we propose combining gene expression analysis, its co-expression network, and flux balance-based metabolic models to gain a deeper understanding of the disease's complexity. This integration has revealed several metabolic subsystems associated with COPD and established a concordance between flux values and gene expression in COPD-related clusters. It demonstrates how effectively computational approaches can capture the molecular and metabolic alterations underlying COPD and align with experimental outcomes. The findings also offer biomarkers and pathways that can serve as a foundation for the development of COPD treatments. In summary, this study highlights the efficacy of an integrative computational approach that merges gene expression analysis, co-expression networks, and flux balance-based metabolic models. This methodology establishes connections between gene expression and metabolic flux while providing a valuable framework for future computational investigations and therapeutic strategies targeting COPD. © 2025 IEEE.

A self-organizing, reconfigurable, and structure-less wireless network that provides intended communications without any radio infrastructure is called the mobile ad hoc network (MANETs). It is generally utilized in special outside occasions, locations, military surgeries, and natural disasters. In MANET, providing security is the primary issue because of the adoption of network structures. Moreover, the modifications in dynamic topologies expose the strike selection, such as routing, eavesdropping, and alteration of several programs. If MANET has several privacy and security issues, then it may surpass the quality of services (QoS). Hence, the security in MANET is guaranteed by using intrusion tracking approaches. This intrusion tracking system regulates the MANET in recognizing some other violation weaknesses. High protections are provided by detecting intrusions from the entire network, which includes attacks that are beyond the network layer. The nodes are not merely altered by the power collapse in the system, but it is also capable of transferring the packets in the network, which depends on the total system life. An effective routing protocol is designed to select the optimal paths for enhancing navigation in MANETs. Moreover, the terms secure routing and energy efficiency are critical problems when changing the network topology and limiting resources with this kind of network. A hybridized optimization-aided routing strategy is offered in this research work to provide an energy-efficient routing protocol. At the initial stage, the experimentation is conducted based on the sensor nodes in MANET. Since the existing models are ineffective in achieving high energy efficiency, the new routing protocol is developed by proposing the hybrid optimization algorithm. Accordingly, the suggested work is regarded for optimizing the shortest path in the routing model by using the Hybrid Sailfish Optimizer and Whale Optimization Algorithm (HS-WOA). A keystroke dynamics is a simple example of a biometric authentication by using a typing rhythm on a keyboard without any special device. Previous research used Euclidean distance to distinguish between an authentic user and an imposter [1]. However, the Euclidean distance has a flaw in that a distance could be the same even though the keystroke rhythms are different. Therefore, this paper proposed to enhance the keystroke dynamics authentication by using a keystroke vector and calculating a standard deviation for each key to give different weights such that the variations of each keystroke is taking into account. A dataset is similar in [1] but some data is different. The performance was measured using Equal Error Rate (EER) and the result showed that the EER was 3.33%, compared to 4% in [1]. © 2023 IEEE.

The objective of this research is to propose an AI based novel augmented reality (AR) software to assist users in operating a wide range of technical and non-technical devices. The project's aim is to make this AR application, which provides detailed explanations of all the device's functions, more widely used than traditional user manuals. Augmented reality, which overlays digital information onto the real world, can be employed to develop an AR-based user manual for products or devices. Mobile applications that use a camera to recognize a product or device and display dynamic graphics, such as 3 D models, animations, or text, are one example of AR user manuals. These augmented reality user manuals enable consumers to quickly and easily learn how to operate, assemble, repair, or troubleshoot their purchased products. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm was able to recognize the object accurately with a percentage of 95.2%. © 2024 IEEE.

Presently cities are undergoing changes and transformations due to the adoption of information and communications technology. Enterprise Architecture (EA) is one of the approaches adopted by practitioners and researchers to facilitate smart city development as it can enhance the effectiveness of cities’ digital resources and sustainability capabilities. But, despite several literature on EA, studies on the adoption of EA to improve the sustainability of cities are still at the early stage. Besides, there are fewer studies that provided evidence on the adoption of EA to make cities sustainable grounded on established theoretical models and quantitative data. Therefore, this study aims to provide an understanding on the adoption of EA by different practitioners involved in a smart city project. Knowledge transfer and support services are integrated as new external variables needed to improve practitioners’ behavior intention and actual adoption of EA in making cities smarter. A model is developed grounded on an extension of technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and data were collected via a cross-country survey. Partial least squares-structural equation modeling was employed to analyze the data. Findings from this study offer implications for research and practice and provide opportunities for future research. © 2022, The Author(s).
