Monitoring the quality of river water is of fundamental importance and needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to the research into the hydrological field. In this context, the concentration of the dissolved oxygen (DO) is one of the most significant indicators of the quality of river water. The current study aimed to estimate the minimum, maximum, and mean DO concentrations (DO min, DO max, DO mean) at a gauging station located on Tualatin River, United States. To that end, four machine learning models, such as support vector regression (SVR), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), random forest (RF), and gradient boosting (GB) were established. Root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), coefficient of correlation (R), and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) metrics were employed to better assess the accuracies of these models. The modeling results demonstrated that the SVR and MLP surpassed the RF and GB models. Despite this, the SVR was concluded to be the best-performing method when used to estimate the DO min, DO max, and DO mean. The best error statistics in the testing phase were related to the SVR model with full (four) inputs to estimate DO mean concentration (RMSE = 0.663 mg/l, MAE = 0.508 mg/l, R = 0.945, NSE = 0.875). Finally, the explainability of the superior models (i.e. SVR models) was conducted using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) for the first time to estimate DO concentration. In fact, evaluating the explainability of machine learning models can provide useful information about the impact of each of the input estimators used in the procedure of models development. It was concluded that the specific conductance (SC) and followed by water temperature (WT) could provide the most contributions for estimating the DO min, DO max, and DO mean concentrations. © 2024 The Author(s). The ability of robots to imitate human learning strategies-rapidly adapting to new tasks without large datasets-has garnered significant attention in meta-learning. Meta-reinforcement learning seeks to enhance robotic agent flexibility across diverse tasks and contexts, offering promise where single-task learning often fails. Despite advancements like multi-task diffusion models and task-weighted optimization mechanisms, effectively training tasks with varying complexities simultaneously remains a major challenge. This paper introduces a novel meta-reinforcement learning method that addresses this issue by clustering the training tasks of robotic arms based on semantic and trajectory similarities, while leveraging adaptive learning rates and task-specific weights proposed by the multitask optimization techniques. Our approach, TEAM, emphasizes performance-driven semantic clustering, optimizing based on robotic task similarity, complexity, and convergence objectives. We also integrate fast adaptive and multi-task optimization of the diffusion model to enhance computational efficiency and adaptability. More specifically, we introduce a cluster-specific optimization technique, using specialized parameters for each group to allow more refined task handling. The experimental validation demonstrates the effectiveness of this scalable method in improving performance, adaptability, and efficiency in real-world, heterogeneous robotic tasks, further advancing robotic computing in meta-reinforcement learning.

Sports science can have a significant and positive impact on coaches and athletes, as well as for the professional sports organization. According to this situation, more and more organizations are competing to implement sports science as the monitoring systems. Along with the development of technology, it becomes easier for humans to carry out their activities, including communication with each other. Advances in the field of communication technologies have led to the use of social networks to support all activity. With social media, all kinds of information that people want to search for can be found easily. Social networks have their uniqueness in their characteristics. Like LINE has free calling and video calling features, while Instagram has features like Instagram Story, where users can document their activities in the form of photos or recordings. By all the characteristics of social networks, it will support the activity of sports science. The methodology of this research focused on quantitative research based on the T-test approach. The result shows that social media involvement can significantly support collaboration in sports science, so it can increase people's motivation to interact with other participants in sport organizations. © 2020 IEEE.

he MITRE ATT&CK framework categorizes threat actor behaviors into a sequence of techniques called the attack lifecycle. Based on this, Our work introduces a dual-labeled dataset that is accurately labeled with distinct techniques and lifecycles defined by ATT&CK. The dataset offered a more thorough perspective than previous datasets that employed binary or attack classification. It encompassed 17 distinct techniques throughout five lifecycles and was generated through an automated method that guarantees reproducibility and learnability. Reproducibility guarantees the dataset’s consistency, whereas learnability signifies its use in training machine learning models. Our analysis produced a positive result. The dataset achieved a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.7 for reproducibility. Regarding distinguishing classes, it exhibits an average AUC-ROC score of 0.92 for techniques and 0.82 for lifecycles. The model training yielded an average F1 score of 0.95 for technique classification and 0.9 for lifecycle classification, but only for the traffic dataset. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Oil spills represent a growing environmental challenge that poses a significant threat to living organisms. Moreover, the treatment of oil spills, especially in severe cases, has serious economic repercussions and requires substantial labor and time. Therefore, the effective detection of oil spills has become an important research problem. Traditional methods for detecting oil spills, such as manual patrolling and dynamic sensors, are often limited in accuracy and coverage. As a result, the automation of oil spills detection has emerged as a critical global imperative in scientific research. The aim of this paper is to employ deep learning technology to achieve effective detection of oil spills based on aerial images. Our approach is composed of two phases. In the first phase, a Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN), namely ResNet50, is trained on a large dataset containing images showing oil spills at a seaport. The trained DCNN is used to classify the input image as "Oil Spill" or "No Oil Spill". In the second phase, the images classified as "Oil Spill" are analyzed using a deep learning detection model, namely You-Only-Look-Once (YOLOv4), to localize the oil spills. The results indicate the capability of the proposed method to achieve effective oil spill detection. In particular, the classification accuracy obtained by the ResNet50 model is equal to 98%. Moreover, the YOLOv4 model was able to obtain effective localization of the oil spills with mean-average precision of 62%.

Language is a communication tool that is used as interaction with others. The use of indigenous languages is decreasing and erasing over time. Lampung script is a script that becomes the identity of the province of Lampung. However, only a few native Lampung residents who know the Lampung script and the younger generation often write Lampung in Latin letters because it is considered easier. This study uses Optical Character Recognition to recognize Lampung characters in image images using a smartphone. This study uses the Pixel Population Matrix feature extraction to extract the characteristics of the characters. The distance calculation for each test character and database uses Manhattan Distance and is classified using K-Nearest Neighbor with the value of k is 3. The results of the character recognition process can be translated into Indonesian. Testing this application is done by taking image samples with several conditions. The script image tested is in the form of a screenshot image of printed writing with random fonts, a handwritten photo image, a screenshot image with a combination of several words and a photo image with a smaller size and random slope. The test results according to these conditions obtained an average percentage of success of 91.49%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Over the last decades, there has been growing interest in research in multiple and interdisciplinary fields of human-AI computing. In particular, approaches integrating the intersecting design with reinforcement learning (RL) have received more attention. However, the current research on RL may need to consider its enhancement from a human-inspired approach further. In the present work, we focus on enabling a meta-reinforcement learning (meta-RL) agent to achieve adaptation and generalization according to modeling Markov decision processes using Bayesian knowledge and analysis. By introducing a novel framework called human-inspired meta-RL (HMRL), we incorporate the agent performing resilient actions to leverage the dynamic dense reward based on the knowledge and prediction of a Bayesian analysis. The proposed framework can make the agent learn generalization and prevent the agent from failing catastrophically. The experimental results show that our approach helps the agent reduce computational costs with learning adaptation. Finally, we conclude and anticipate that integrating human-inspired meta-RL can enable learning more formulations relating to robustness and scalability, leading to promising directions and more complex AI goals in the future.

Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) has been one of the most popular methods in time-series forecasting. Within the LSTM architecture, there are hyperparameters present that need to be optimized in order to achieve the optimum results. In order to optimize these hyperparameters, a metaheuristic optimization method was used. A metaheuristic algorithm was used as a way to reduce both time and computational complexity. We used the Search Economics algorithm because we found the algorithm quite interesting while being unpopular. The evaluation was carried out by using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) as the primary metric used for the optimization. The dataset being used in this experiment is the stock price of one of the most well-known financial institutes in Indonesia. The SE-Optimized LSTM was able to create a prediction that did not overfit with RMSE of 538.92, which was great compared to the unoptimized LSTM model with RMSE of 661.041 and ARIMA model with RMSE of 2809.015. © 2020.
