As jamu small-medium enterprises (SMEs) concentrate on establishing online sales and computerized systems, Point of Sales (PoS) becomes a strategic solution to maintain financial stability with its capabilities in recording electronic transactions accurately. As the initial step in technology empowerment for jamu SMEs, the research proposes a concept in facilitating jamu SMEs to adapt in online business. A combination of Connolly and Begg's database design principles and McCarthy's Marketing Mix 4P generates a conceptual design of PoS database targeted specifically for jamu SMEs. The database design manages online purchasing transactions for jamu products by involving not only jamu SMEs and consumers but also a system administrator who manages data verification and extraction.

Most video-and-language representation learning approaches employ contrastive learning, e.g., CLIP [53], to project the video and text features into a common latent space according to the semantic similarities of text-video pairs. However, such learned shared latent spaces are not often optimal, and the modality gap between visual and textual representation can not be fully eliminated. In this paper, we propose Expectation-Maximization Contrastive Learning (EMCL) to learn compact video-and-language representations. Specifically, we use the Expectation-Maximization algorithm to find a compact set of bases for the latent space, where the features could be concisely represented as the linear combinations of these bases. Such feature decomposition of video-and-language representations reduces the rank of the latent space, resulting in increased representing power for the semantics. Extensive experiments on three benchmark text-video retrieval datasets prove that our EMCL can learn more discriminative video-and-language representations than previous methods, and significantly outperform previous state-of-the-art methods across all metrics. More encouragingly, the proposed method can be applied to boost the performance of existing approaches either as a jointly training layer or an out-of-the-box inference module with no extra training, making it easy to be incorporated into any existing methods.

Multimodal manipulations (also known as audiovisual deepfakes) make it difficult for unimodal deepfake detectors to detect forgeries in multimedia content. To avoid the spread of false propaganda and fake news, timely detection is crucial. The damage to either modality (i.e., visual or audio) can only be discovered through multi-modal models that can exploit both pieces of information simultaneously. Previous methods mainly adopt uni-modal video forensics and use supervised pre-training for forgery detection. This study proposes a new method based on a multi-modal self-supervised-learning (SSL) feature extractor to exploit inconsistency between audio and visual modalities for multi-modal video forgery detection. We use the transformer-based SSL pre-trained Audio-Visual HuBERT (AV-HuBERT) model as a visual and acoustic feature extractor and a multi-scale temporal convolutional neural network to capture the temporal correlation between the audio and visual modalities. Since AV-HuBERT only extracts visual features from the lip region, we also adopt another transformer-based video model to exploit facial features and capture spatial and temporal artifacts caused during the deepfake generation process. Experimental results show that our model outperforms all existing models and achieves new state-of-the-art performance on the FakeAVCeleb and DeepfakeTIMIT datasets. © 2023, CC BY.

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor with a high mortality rate among women. Therefore, it is necessary to develop novel therapies to effectively treat this disease. In this study, iron selenide nanorods (FeSe2 NRs) were designed for use in magnetic hyperthermic, photothermal, and chemodynamic therapy (MHT/PTT/CDT) for breast cancer. To illustrate their efficacy, FeSe2 NRs were modified with the chemotherapeutic agent methotrexate (MTX). MTX-modified FeSe2 (FeSe2-MTX) exhibited excellent controlled drug release properties. Fe2+ released from FeSe2 NRs induced the release of •OH from H2O2 via a Fenton/Fenton-like reaction, enhancing the efficacy of CDT. Under alternating magnetic field (AMF) stimulation and 808 nm laser irradiation, FeSe2-MTX exerted potent hyperthermic and photothermal effects by suppressing tumor growth in a breast cancer nude mouse model. In addition, FeSe2 NRs can be used for magnetic resonance imaging in vivo by incorporating their superparamagnetic characteristics into a single nanomaterial. Overall, we presented a novel technique for the precise delivery of functional nanosystems to tumors that can enhance the efficacy of breast cancer treatment. © 2024 The Authors. Disasters are unexpected, sudden events that may cause monumental damages to both materials and human lives. Hence, the unpredictability and destruction that follow when a disaster happens to pose a dire challenge for researchers, scientists, and governments to find ways to effectively handle the situation and flow of information when such an event strikes. The Internet of Things (IoT) presents a solution that involves using one or more mobile devices connected over the network, thus making the transfer of data and information more effective and efficient. This paper presents a holistic analysis of the state-of-the-art IoT technologies which can answer the challenge posed above, in addition to the demand for efficiency, mobility, accuracy, as well as better communications between the command center and all actors involved in disaster operations. The applications of IoT have varied for many purposes. We divide those purposes into two broad strokes of pre-disaster management and post-disaster management IoT-aided systems. For pre-disaster management, the IoT-aided systems are mostly used to predict the possible disaster that might happen using sensors placed in strategic places. Finally, for post-disaster management, the IoT-aided systems aid in improving the effectiveness and accuracy of evacuation, relief, and victim-tracking efforts.

Vehicular Perception Based on Inertial Sensing: A Structured Mapping of Approaches and Methods

In this paper, we present a structured literature mapping of the state-of-the-art of vehicular perception methods and approaches using inertial sensors. An in-depth investigation and classification were performed employing the results of a systematic literature review. The analysis focused on identifying methods that capture signals provided by inertial sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes to recognize transient or persistent events associated with the vehicle’s movement. We classified these events into vehicular exteroception, associated with potholes, cracks, speed bumps, pavement type, conservation state;and vehicular proprioception, associated with lane change, braking, skidding, aquaplaning, turning right or left. Through the comprehensive study of publications in a 7-year time window, in addition to the methods, we have also identified their dependency factors, hardware platforms and applications. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

CLINICAL DETERIORATION PREDICTION IN BRAZILIAN HOSPITALS BASED ON ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS AND TREE DECISION MODELS

Early recognition of clinical deterioration (CD) has vital importance in patients' survival from exacerbation or death. Electronic health records (EHRs) data have been widely employed in Early Warning Scores (EWS) to measure CD risk in hospitalized patients. Recently, EHRs data have been utilized in Machine Learning (ML) models to predict mortality and CD. The ML models have shown superior performance in CD prediction compared to EWS. Since EHRs data are structured and tabular, conventional ML models are generally applied to them, and less effort is put into evaluating the artificial neural network's performance on EHRs data. Thus, in this article, an extremely boosted neural network (XBNet) is used to predict CD, and its performance is compared to eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and random forest (RF) models. For this purpose, 103,105 samples from thirteen Brazilian hospitals are used to generate the models. Moreover, the principal component analysis (PCA) is employed to verify whether it can improve the adopted models' performance. The performance of ML models and Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), an EWS candidate, are evaluated in CD prediction regarding the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and geometric mean (G-mean) metrics in a 10-fold cross-validation approach. According to the experiments, the XGBoost model obtained the best results in predicting CD among Brazilian hospitals' data. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

These days, Indonesia has entered the era of Industry 4.0 which is marked by the development of all-digital technology and automation. With the increasing rate of technology development that changes people's lives, people are becoming fond of anything fast and instant. With the help of these technological advancements, we create an application that makes it easier for users that are willing to hold events. This application connects 2 entities, which are users and an event organizer. The event organizer can easily find their market and other hands easy as well for the user for finding the market for event organization activities. The business processes in this application were designed with a use case diagram, and the tables in the database were designed with the class diagram and the menu of the application with User Interface (UI). However, this proposed application just only an introduction and needs to be explored for those who are interested to explore entrepreneurship in these areas.
