Information engineering strategies play a significant and transformative role in shaping the landscape of digital agriculture. It drives innovation and efficiency in modern farming practices, with a specific focus on enhancing the value of agricultural commodities, such as sugarcane. The application of mobile technology plays a crucial part in achieving increased sugarcane productivity. Mobile applications, equipped with advanced developer features, offer rapid and user-friendly access to vital information. Traditional methods of estimating sugarcane production relied on manual data recording on paper, followed by data transfer to computer systems, typically managed by sugar factory junior plant officers. This conventional approach presents several inherent weaknesses, including time and effort intensiveness during data recording and entry. Additionally, the potential for errors in calculation and data input is a concern. The storage capacity for paper-based documents is finite, and farmers are often unable to autonomously assess their production potential. The objective of this research is to confront these obstacles by creating a sugarcane production application for Android. This application functions as an information engineering approach focused on forecasting sugarcane yields for plantation owners and their assistants. The development procedure adhered to the systematic waterfall method, following the principles of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model. Data collection was carried out through observations, while interviews with junior plant officers provided valuable insights into sugarcane estimation techniques. Analysis involved the synthesis of observational and interview data to inform the design of the application's interface and algorithmic system. The resulting application significantly simplifies the process of estimating production potential for farmers, enabling them to access sugarcane productivity data during harvest. Consequently, sugar

Rapid development in vehicular technology has caused more automated vehicle control to increase on the roads. Studies showed that driving in mixed traffic with an autonomous vehicle (AV) had a negative impact on the time headway (THW) of conventional vehicles (CVs) (i.e., driven by humans). To address this issue, there is a need to equip CV with visual advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) that helps the driver maintain safe headway when driving near AVs. This study examines the perception of drivers using visual ADAS and their associated risk while driving behind the AV at constant and varying speeds. The preliminary results showed that while visual ADAS could help drivers keep the safe THW, it could affect drivers' ability to react to emergencies. This implies that visual modality alone might not be sufficient and therefore requires some other feedback or intelligent transport systems to help drivers maintain safe driving in a mixed-Traffic condition. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. Since the emergence of Pokémon Go in 2016, the world has been introduced to Augmented Reality (AR) games. Many IT companies have begun developing augmented reality (AR) games due to the great commercial potential in this industry. Certain products may have managed to remain viable in the market, while others were forced to close due to one or two factors. Since the emergence of Pokémon Go, no other game has managed to surpass its unprecedented success. The company responsible for developing Pokémon Go has decided to shut down one of their games due to a lack of consumer interest. The technology of augmented reality (AR) is consistently associated with the concept of immersion. Immersion is a key aspect of the game that allows users to deeply engage and feel fully involved in the experience. This study will employ a quantitative methodology, utilising a questionnaire that will be distributed to and completed by those who have engaged in augmented reality (AR) games. The data will be analysed using Smart PLS to examine the impact of user experience on immersion, which in turn influences intention. After gathering over 200 participants by spreading google form questionnaires and doing data analysis, the findings indicate that only a few aspects of user experience, namely Brand Experience and User Need Experience, have an impact on reasons. Niantic, the developer of Pokémon Go, was unable to replicate their success with a similar augmented reality game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The initial release occurred on June 21, 2019, and the shutdown took place on December 21, 2021. In the beginning, they shown a profound enthusiasm for the game but were unable to sustain it, much as Pokémon Go. According to Niantic CEO John Hanke, the primary reason for the game's shutdown was its immersion. In smart retail, the problem in grocery product image classification is fine-grained image representation. Product variants are characterized by differences in color, text, and size. However, while the process of image classification involves quite complex stages, there is still a misclassification of grocery products. This is because there are many areas of the image being calculated, which makes the models not optimally calculate the most important area. This paper aims to identify a number of patch image formations as an important area of the product by involving Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints (BRISK) as a feature descriptor, K-Means Clustering, and the elbow method. First, we experiment with the BRISK keypoint feature for grocery products with different categories of brands. Second, the keypoint features are clustered using K-Means clustering. Lastly, the number of clusters is analyzed using the elbow method to find the optimal number. The result shows that the number of clusters from 8 products has variations of 5, 5, and 6 clusters. Finally, each cluster represents an important area in forming patches to support fine-grained grocery product image classification.

Despite their drawbacks, multiple-choice questions (MCQ) have been widely used to assess the students' understanding of lectures through examinations. The development of automatic MCQ generation is beneficial, especially for educators. As a starting point for further development, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to uncover current trends, future challenges, and opportunities in automatic MCQ generation. Previously, an SLR was conducted, but it lacks coverage of the utilization of transformer-based models. This SLR covers the development of automatic MCQ generation using either traditional or advanced approaches such as Transformers. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework was used to gather the data from Scopus, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, arXiv, and Semantic Scholar. The included articles must be open-access computer science conference papers or journal articles and written in English less than five years ago. Four independent reviewers analyzed the research workflow, evaluation metric, and dataset used in each study. There are 18 included studies, where 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2024, 33% (n = 6) studies are from 2023, 22% (n = 4) studies are from 2022, 11% (n = 2) studies are from 2021, and 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2020. There are 33% (n = 6) of the studies used the traditional feature-based engineering approach, 39% (n = 7) of the studies used the Transformer-based model fine-tuning approach, and the remaining used novel approaches. The study found that BERT variants are the most utilized Transformer-based model in automatic MCQ. The research notes some challenges, but also open various opportunities for further research, including Large Language Model (LLM) utilization for automatic MCQ generation, the utilization BERT-based models for standardized machine-learned evaluation metrics, and the initiative for the creation of an MCQ dataset benchmark.

In recent times, there has been considerable attention directed towards Facial Expression Recognition (FER) due to its extensive utility across diverse domains. However, the universality of facial expressions has been challenged by studies suggesting that cultural backgrounds significantly influence the perception and recognition of emotions. This paper addresses the need for culturally specific datasets in FER tasks, particularly in underrepresented regions like Indonesia. The study introduces dynamic images as an alternative input representation for facial expression recognition tasks, aiming to assess their efficacy using the Indonesian Mixed Emotions Dataset (IMED). Through experimentation using EfficientNet model, the performance of dynamic images is compared with static image and video inputs. Results indicate that dynamic images exhibit promising performance, with an accuracy of 94.28%. These results outperform static image datasets and nearly match the performance of video-based models, which achieved an accuracy of 97.93 %, despite using fewer data. Nonetheless, challenges such as data imbalance and the quality of generated dynamic images persist, suggesting avenues for further research and model refinement. This study provides valuable insights into methodological advancements in FER, particularly in limited dataset conditions, laying the groundwork for future developments in dynamic image-based facial expression recognition algorithms.

Predicting the best-quality of rice phenotypes is the priority among agricultural researchers to fulfill worldwide food security. Trend development of predictive models from statistics to machine learning is the subject of this review. Gathered from the Google Scholar database, 14 appropriate papers (2016-2020) related to the rice phenotypes prediction were selected through title and abstract content filtering. The outputs show that Support Vector Machine, Multi-layer Perceptron, and regression are the most used models, while yield is the priority prediction point besides tiller, panicle, and 1000-grain weight of rice. However, finding the accurate predictor is invariably challenging due to distinct rice varieties in the world and high confounding factors. Thus, developing an advanced deep learning model that accommodates these needs is worth considering further.

Repurposing transfer learning strategy of computer vision for owl sound classification

Accurately predicting an owl species based on its sound can be helpful for owl conservation. To build an accurate model for owl sound classification, deep learning is currently the most preferred algorithm, due to its excellent performance for modeling audio data. However, deep learning is generally underperformed for a small dataset, which is the case for recognizing scops owl sound. To overcome the issue, we proposed a transfer learning strategy, which is common for computer vision tasks, that can alleviate overfitting in a deep learning model for the owl sound classification. In our approach, we propose a neural network architecture consisting of the backbone of a EfficientNet model pre-trained on the massive ImageNet database. The model takes the sound input that has been converted as two image representations: Spectrogram and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients. Our strategy enables the use of a relatively small size of pre-trained image classification model, which is widely available, for transfer learning in owl sound classification. Deploying the lightweight model in an automatic sound classifier provides a fast and accurate tool for various owl conservation purposes.

Trees are one of the most important living things on the planet. Trees help by being one of the largest producers' oxygens on planet, by absorbing groundwater and by maintaining soil fertility. Trees can also be one of the keys to reducing existing air pollution. Therefore, the number of existing trees must be maintained. The first step in maintaining the number of existing trees is to count or map them. One of the easiest ways is to do this use an algorithm. This study uses a tree-counting algorithm called Deep Forest. Deep Forest is a Python package that can detect trees through RGB satellite imagery. This study used satellite imagery from Pleiades on an area in Kulon Progo district, Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the image-one of the four regencies within Yogyakarta Province in Indonesia. In addition to the Deep Forest algorithm, this research also used an application provided by Esri called ArcGIS Pro. With this application, data preprocessing such as labeling the data and creating the deep learning dataset for research is much easier, while ArcGIS Pro provides tools for labeling and exporting the data to jupyter notebook. The result obtained using the Deep Forest algorithm is the F1 score with an accuracy of 0.76 for the first experiment, 0.774 for the second experiment, and 0.779 for the final experiment.

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has enabled the widespread deployment of health monitoring systems. Traditionally, the health monitoring system has been limited by centralized processing and storage in the cloud, leading to latency issues and potential data loss. This paper introduces a smart sleep monitoring system based on edge computing, utilizing microservices architecture and caching techniques. The proposed system employs edge computing to enable data processing closer to the source, reducing latency and improving real-time monitoring capabilities. Caching is employed to reduce database load and optimize random access memory (RAM) usage. This research addresses latency and response time challenges on IoT health monitoring platforms in environments with poor network quality while optimizing database load and resource usage on Jetson Nano as the edge computing device. Using Electrocardiogram (ECG) data as input, the proposed system yields impressive performance metrics. The research results indicate that the proposed system can increase throughput by 26.92 KB/s, reduce response time by 18.8 ms, and decrease latency by 20.86 ms compared to the previous work. Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) integration reduces CPU usage by approximately 40% and RAM usage by about 81.24%.
