In recent times, there has been considerable attention directed towards Facial Expression Recognition (FER) due to its extensive utility across diverse domains. However, the universality of facial expressions has been challenged by studies suggesting that cultural backgrounds significantly influence the perception and recognition of emotions. This paper addresses the need for culturally specific datasets in FER tasks, particularly in underrepresented regions like Indonesia. The study introduces dynamic images as an alternative input representation for facial expression recognition tasks, aiming to assess their efficacy using the Indonesian Mixed Emotions Dataset (IMED). Through experimentation using EfficientNet model, the performance of dynamic images is compared with static image and video inputs. Results indicate that dynamic images exhibit promising performance, with an accuracy of 94.28%. These results outperform static image datasets and nearly match the performance of video-based models, which achieved an accuracy of 97.93 %, despite using fewer data. Nonetheless, challenges such as data imbalance and the quality of generated dynamic images persist, suggesting avenues for further research and model refinement. This study provides valuable insights into methodological advancements in FER, particularly in limited dataset conditions, laying the groundwork for future developments in dynamic image-based facial expression recognition algorithms.

In the digital era, digital talent development has become increasingly vital for organizations and economies to thrive. While much focus has been placed on technical skills, this report emphasizes the often-overlooked role of soft skills in developing digital talent. Through an extensive literature review and data analysis, the study identifies that soft skills are crucial in enhancing digital talent performance. This research explores the factors that influence Digital Talent Performance in Indonesia, specifically comparing the performance levels of male and female digital talents. Data were collected from college students in the Jabodetabek area (cities surrounding Jakarta, Indonesia) using a purposive sampling method, with an online questionnaire distributed to 378 respondents. The study utilized Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to analyze the collected data using SmartPLS 4.1. software. Key variables examined include Communication Skills, Teamwork, Emotional Intelligence, Academic Achievement, Problem-Solving, Digital Readiness, Digital Skills, Digital Technology, and Digital Talent Performance. Out of the nine hypotheses tested, one was not statistically significant. The results suggest that a combination of both technical and soft skills significantly affects digital talent performance, with important gender-based differences in performance levels emerging from the analysis. This research contributes to understanding Indonesia's complex dynamics of digital talent development.

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has enabled the widespread deployment of health monitoring systems. Traditionally, the health monitoring system has been limited by centralized processing and storage in the cloud, leading to latency issues and potential data loss. This paper introduces a smart sleep monitoring system based on edge computing, utilizing microservices architecture and caching techniques. The proposed system employs edge computing to enable data processing closer to the source, reducing latency and improving real-time monitoring capabilities. Caching is employed to reduce database load and optimize random access memory (RAM) usage. This research addresses latency and response time challenges on IoT health monitoring platforms in environments with poor network quality while optimizing database load and resource usage on Jetson Nano as the edge computing device. Using Electrocardiogram (ECG) data as input, the proposed system yields impressive performance metrics. The research results indicate that the proposed system can increase throughput by 26.92 KB/s, reduce response time by 18.8 ms, and decrease latency by 20.86 ms compared to the previous work. Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) integration reduces CPU usage by approximately 40% and RAM usage by about 81.24%.

Attendance systems have become more modern, and one of the biometric systems without physical contact is face recognition. However, many face-based attendance systems still carry out attendance individually and cannot detect multiple faces simultaneously. In addition, capturing facial data in real-time is still a challenge because the relatively large distance between the camera and the individual reduces the ability to recognize faces. The general solution is to use super-resolution to generate better-quality faces while maintaining the main facial recognition features. One technique still being researched is super-resolution generative adversarial networks (SRGAN). SRGAN can enlarge the resolution of captured images and maintain image quality sufficient for face recognition. The attendance system can be easily integrated into edge devices such as the Jetson Nano. This paper proposes automatic and effective attendance systems with the super-resolution technique to detect and recognize faces in low-resolution input. The experimental results show that using face data capture with a resolution of 40 × 40 pixels and a four-fold magnification results in a resolution of 160 × 160 pixels. Combining Face SRGAN with FaceNet architecture as the basis of face recognition can achieve an accuracy rate of 78.19% and an F1-Score of 81.13% with an average processing time of 1.61 seconds per frame on a PC and 14.55 seconds per frame on a Jetson Nano at an average of face recognition per frame of as many as up to 8 faces simultaneously.

Oil palm fruit farming is one of the most leading agriculture industries in the South East Asia region. Unfortunately, most of the harvesting method is still done through manual labor. Multiple research has been conducted to help farmers automatically detect the ripeness level of the oil palm fruit. We conducted an experiment of detecting the ripeness level of oil palm fruit by using one of the state-of-the-art computer vision approaches, which was deep learning with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The dataset used consists of 7 levels of ripeness with 400 images of oil palm fruits. The models used in this test scenario were both AlexNet and DenseNet. The result of this study showed that DenseNet has been proven to outperform AlexNet by 8.5% in terms of accuracy and 8% in F1 score. © 2021 IEEE.

Ancestry estimation is one crucial stage in genomic research. It generates scores that represent the admixed genetics profile as the result of human evolution. In the previous research, we implemented multiple unsupervised methods to estimate these scores from large genomics data obtained from the 1000 Genome Project. These methods were limited to only cluster the samples to the five global populations in the dataset. The main challenge arose when implementing these methods to cluster the samples into more specific subpopulations. In this paper, we proposed a supervised approach to answer this challenge. Two state-of-the-art supervised machine learning methods, XGBoost and Deep Neural Network (DNN), were applied to the same dataset. These methods were aimed to classify samples, both into five main populations and also into 26 sub-populations. In the first classification task, both methods achieved similar results to our previous unsupervised approach. Interestingly, for the second classification task, which posses a relatively higher difficulty, DNN yielded better performance in the train, validation, and test dataset, despite its overfitting problem. Furthermore, the feature importance scores from each model were calculated using Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) method. Finally, 11 overlapped SNPs from all models were evaluated based on the reported Minor Allele Frequency (MAF) from the 1000 Genome Project. Overall, only using these 11 SNPs, we could differentiate each population in regards to its average MAF. © 2021 IEEE.

Detecting COVID-19 as early as possible and quickly is one way to stop the spread of COVID-19. Machine learning development can help to diagnose COVID-19 more quickly and accurately. This report aims to find out how far research has progressed and what lessons can be learned for future research in this sector. By filtering titles, abstracts, and content in the Google Scholar database, this literature review was able to find 19 related papers to answer two research questions, i.e. what medical images are commonly used for COVID-19 classification and what are the methods for COVID-19 classification. According to the findings, chest X-ray were the most commonly used data to categorize COVID-19 and transfer learning techniques were the method used in this study. Researchers also concluded that lung segmentation and use of multimodal data could improve performance.

This paper explores the development of a multilabel machine learning system for predicting both gender and age from human gait patterns. Gait analysis, a non-intrusive method of identifying subtle nuances in human movement, has proven to be a rich source of information related to demographic characteristics. The research extends beyond traditional single-label classification approaches, adopting a multilabel framework to simultaneously predict gender and age *** study evaluates various multilabel machine learning algorithms, with the Random k-labeLsets (RAKEL) algorithm demonstrating superior performance in predicting gender and age labels from human gait datasets. The accuracy of the algorithm can reach up to 87%. We also compared the multilabel approach with several multiclass algorithms such as Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, K-Neighbors and XGBoost. However, when we also considering the training time, Classifier Chain algorithm showed the best trade off with the accuracy of 86% and the training time is twice faster than the RAKEL algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

In agricultural water research, the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged as a pivotal approach for large-scale data collection. Water availability in the context of water quality is very important, both for domestic and industrial purposes. For domestic purposes, drinking water and bathing water are separated. Meanwhile, for the palm oil industry, boiler filler is differentiated from additional process water (dilution water). Water quality parameters can be assessed from turbidity and Total Dissolve Solid (TDS). Measurements using measuring instruments separately and repeatedly require significant energy, time, and costs. This research was conducted with the primary objective of presenting a novel method for categorizing water quality with the approach of IoT sensor technology. The research methodology entailed the utilization of an integrated IoT water sensors system in conjunction with manual water categorization. The methods consist of (1) system design, (2) design and installation of sensor and IoT-based microcontrollers, and (3) accuracy and precision testing compared with laboratory measurements. The precision of the integrated IoT water sensors was assessed through a dedicated sensor precision test, resulting in an accuracy rate of 94.4% for the turbidity sensor and 97.5% for the TDS sensor. Notably, this approach successfully discriminated drinking water with valid categorization, while other water types, including groundwater, water with tea, and water with coffee, yielded null categorization results. © 2023 IEEE.

Technological developments have resulted in a trend of cryptocurrencies that use a technology called blockchain to create and record all transactions made into a digital ledger. Along with the emergence of the trend of cryptocurrencies, this development has also resulted in crimes that hit the digital world, such as data leakage and cyber espionage. This threat can be prevented by applying blockchain technology to the database that has been used. Therefore, we need a system that can facilitate the use of blockchain technology and can process data from an existing relational database into a blockchain-based database. The system developed in this study was built with the FastAPI framework that uses the Python programming language and the React framework that uses the Javascript programming language. This system was tested using Katalon and Wireshark software to perform throughput testing and man-in-the-middle attacks. Evaluation of this system is assessed based on the average throughput time and also the results of Wireshark packet capture. The system designed in this research is expected to help overcome interoperability problems when using blockchain and improve relational database integrity. The results of the test show that the system is safe from man-in-the-middle attacks while sending data through API and has a faster throughput time than BigchainDB system by 4.151 seconds.
