The study focuses on the argument component in argumentation mining, specifically examining claim and premise types. Various datasets exist for argumentation components, each with different classes. The study evaluates the performance of deep learning architectures, particularly using contextual embedding as the initial layer. Six datasets with diverse argument components are used for validation. The research provides a comprehensive comparison of deep learning architectures, combining multiple layers such as BERT or word embedding with LSTM, GRU, or CNN. The results and their implications are discussed in the concluding section of the journal. The study demonstrates significant results with the BERT-BiGRU-CRF architecture after conducting several experiments. © 2023 Slovene Society Informatika. All rights reserved.

This exponential proliferation of IoT devices is creating an ever-growing demand for efficient cybersecurity solutions in resource-constrained environments. In this study, we propose Edge-IoTDistilBERT, a fine-tuned DistilBERT model, intended for the multi-class classification of network packet attacks within IoT ecosystems. Our proposed model was trained on the Edge-IIoT dataset, representative of all traffic classes and attack variants with high accuracy of up to 99.99%, outperforming state-of-the-art solutions. The new preprocessing pipeline of PCAP to text would transform the network traffic to a textual form allowing the model to learn the pattern in the dataset and making it able to generalize its content. Our fine-tuned model show a robust result on imbalanced dataset with two diffrent splits namely 80-20 and 70-30. The result shown by Edge-IoTDistilBERT place this model as a feasible effective cybersecurity solution for IoT networks, offering a good trade-off between high performance and resource constraints linked to edge devices. © 2025 IEEE.

Offensive Language Detection Using Soft Voting Ensemble Model

Offensive language is one of the problems that have become increasingly severe along with the rise of the internet and social media usage. This language can be used to attack a person or specific groups. Automatic moderation, such as the usage of machine learning, can help detect and filter this particular language for someone who needs it. This study focuses on improving the performance of the soft voting classifier to detect offensive language by experimenting with the combinations of the soft voting estimators. The model was applied to a Twitter dataset that was augmented using several augmentation techniques. The features were extracted using Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency, sentiment analysis, and GloVe embedding. In this study, there were two types of soft voting models: machine learning-based, with the estimators of Random Forest, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes, and AdaBoost as the best combination, and deep learning-based, with the best estimator combination of Convolutional Neural Network, Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory, and Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit. The results of this study show that the soft voting classifier was better in performance compared to classic machine learning and deep learning models on both original and augmented datasets. © 2023, Brno University of Technology. The use of balanced medical datasets is essential to improve the precision and accuracy of machine learning models in the healthcare field. However, dataset imbalance often becomes an obstacle, especially in the diagnosis of skin diseases. This research aims to develop a Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) method that is more effective in generating synthetic skin datasets to overcome problems in integrating medical datasets. The methods used include developing and training a GAN model to produce realistic synthetic skin images, with a focus on improving the quality and diversity of the synthetic data produced. Important results from this research show that the developed GAN model is able to produce synthetic skin images that are not only realistic but also able to balance the original dataset. The implications of these findings include improving the accuracy and performance of machine learning models in the diagnosis of skin diseases, as well as the potential use of these methods in other medical fields that face similar problems with imbalanced datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Social media growth was fast because many people used it to express their feelings, share information, and interact with others. With the growth of social media, many researchers are interested in using social media data to conduct research about personality identification. The identification result can be used as a parameter to screen candidate attitudes in the company's recruitment process. Some approaches were used for research about personality;one of the most popular is the Big Five Personality Model. In this research, an ensemble model between BERT and RoBERTa was introduced for personality prediction from the Twitter and Youtube datasets. The data augmentation method also introduces to handling the imbalance class for each dataset. Pre-trained model BERT and RoBERTa was used as the feature extraction method and modeling process. To predict each trait in the Big Five Personality, the voting ensemble from BERT and RoBERTa achieved an average f1 score 0,730 for Twitter dataset and 0,741 for Youtube dataset. Using the proposed model, we conclude that data augmentation can increase average performance compared to the model without data augmentation process. © 2023 Slovene Society Informatika. In real life, many activities are performed sequentially. These activities must be carried out sequentially, such as the assembly process in the manufacturing production process. This series of activities cannot be reduced or added so that the main goal of the series of activities is achieved. Apart from that, there are also time series events that occur naturally, such as rainy and hot conditions in a certain area. The classification process of time series activities is very important to see the possibility of anomalies occurring. The significant development of machine learning models in recent years has made the process of classifying time series data increasingly researched. Several previous studies stated that deep learning models were more accurate in classifying time series data. In this paper, we will compare Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Transformer deep learning models in classifying time series data. Experimental results using the same public datasets for CNN and Transformer model show that the CNN model is more accurate than the Transformer model. The results of measuring accuracy using confusion matrix show that CNN has an accuracy of 92% and Transformer has an accuracy of 80%. © 2023 IEEE.

This study investigates the performance of Vision Transformer (ViT) variants - the Shifted Window Transformers (SWIN), Distillation with No Labels (DINO), and Data-efficient Image Transformers (DeIT) - in image captioning tasks using the Flickr8K dataset. While ViT architectures have shown promise in image classification, their effectiveness for image captioning, particularly with smaller datasets, remains unclear. The models' performance was evaluated using BLEU metrics, while training efficiency was analyzed through Pareto front analysis of computational time and accuracy. Among the tested variants, SWIN Transformers demonstrated superior performance (BLEU-1: 64.4, BLEU-2: 33.9, BLEU-3: 17.1, BLEU-4: 8.4), followed by DINO (BLEU-1: 63.1, BLEU-2: 32.7, BLEU-3: 16.4, BLEU-4: 7.5), while DeIT showed the weakest performance (BLEU-1: 61.6, BLEU-2: 31.1, BLEU-3: 14.7, BLEU-4: 6.5). SWIN Transformers achieved the shortest training time at 3 minutes 31 seconds per epoch, making it the most efficient model among ViT variants based on Pareto front analysis. While ViT variants achieved competitive BLEU-1 scores comparable to previous top models, they struggled with generating coherent, longer sentences, as evidenced by suboptimal BLEU-4 scores. These findings provide empirical evidence of how the lack of inductive bias in transformer architectures affects their ability to capture complex scene relationships, despite their strong feature detection capabilities, contributing to the understanding of transformer models' limitations in vision-language tasks, especially with limited data. © 2024 IEEE.

This study discusses the development of smart precision farming systems using big data and cloud-based intelligent decision support systems. Big data plays an important role in collecting, storing, and analyzing large amounts of data from various sources related to agriculture, including data from weather stations, soil sensors, satellite imagery, crop yield records, pest and disease reports, and other sources. This study highlights the differences between smart farming and precision farming. This study describes key techniques and system architecture, including data collection, processing, analysis, and decision support components. Utilizing a cloud platform enables scalability and optimized performance, which lowers costs and makes it safer and easier to manage. The integration of big data and Alibaba cloud computing in smart precision farming can improve farming productivity by providing timely information and recommendations to farmers for better decision-making. Finally, the system produces smart precision farming, which provides cost-effective real-Time monitoring and predictive analytics to increase agricultural production and sustainability. © 2023 IEEE.

The technique of calculating the work required for software development is known as software development estimation. The objective cost estimating technique for organizing and carrying out Multi Account Partner (MAP) software projects, COCOMO II, was employed in this study. The MAP software is a software architecture designed to support brokerage cryptocurrency exchanges using the order book and liquidity of established crypto exchanges. This research uses data sets from MAP project development at Indonesia Crypto Exchange Platform. It aims to create a software cost estimation model for MAP software using COCOMO II so that the resulting estimation model can be used as input or reference for estimates of subsequent MAP software development. The result estimated that MAP software finished in about four to five months, with a price range for software development of $7,441 to $8,780. Further research is needed with datasets from other crypto exchanges tested to increase cost estimation accuracy using COCOMO II. © 2023 IEEE.

The point of Agile Methodology is continuous improvement, delivering a small feature quickly without sacrificing the feature quality;every sprint must be better than the previous sprint, and better can be fewer bugs, faster development, and testing. We will present how we reduce production bugs by customizing our sprint iteration. As we know, bugs are unavoidable, there is no software engineer that can make software without a bug;however, we can reduce bugs in production if we can find bugs in lower environments as early as possible. The case study in this paper was taken from one of technology company in Indonesia, the activity was done by the Quality Engineer (QA) Team. We will show that shift-left testing can help us reduce bugs in production. Testing is part of agile methodology, and the main idea of shift-left testing is to move testing early and could be done by any team member, not only QA. We include shift-left testing in our agile methodology for one year in 2022 and compare the result in the previous year. © 2023 IEEE.
