Equivariant Graph Neural Networks (EGNNs) have demonstrated significant success in modeling microscale systems, including those in chemistry, biology and materials science. However, EGNNs face substantial computational challenges due to the high cost of constructing edge features via spherical tensor products, making them impractical for large-scale systems. To address this limitation, we introduce E2Former, an equivariant and efficient transformer architecture that incorporates the Wigner 6j convolution (Wigner 6j Conv). By shifting the computational burden from edges to nodes, the Wigner 6j Conv reduces the complexity from O(|E|) to O(|V|) while preserving both the model’s expressive power and rotational equivariance. We show that this approach achieves a 7x–30x speedup compared to conventional SO(3) convolutions. Furthermore, our empirical results demonstrate that the derived E2Former mitigates the computational challenges of existing approaches without compromising the ability to capture detailed geometric information. This development could suggest a promising direction for scalable and efficient molecular modeling. © 2025, CC BY.

Functional and non-functional requirements are equally important in software engineering. Both of them are mixed together within the same software requirement document. Usually, they are expressed in natural languages. So, a lot of human effort is required to classify them. Software requirements classification is a challenging task. Requirements classification can help developers to deliver quality software that meets users' expectations completely. In this paper, we present a Semi-Automated classification approach of Arabic functional and non-functional requirements using a natural language processing (NLP) tool. We propose a set of heuristics based on basic constructs of Arabic sentences in order to extract information from Arabic software requirements to classify the requirements into functional and non-functional requirements. This research aims to help software engineers by reducing the cost and time required in performing manual classification of software requirements. © 2021 IEEE.

computer vision has been used in many areas such as medical, transportation, military, geography, etc. The fast development of sensor devices inside camera and satellite provides not only red-greed-blue (RGB) images but also multispectral dataset with some channels including RGB, infrared, short-wave, and thermal wave. Most of the dataset is panchromatic (black and white) and RGB, for example Google Map and other satellite-based map applications. This study examines the effects of multispectral dataset for semantic segmentation of land cover. The comparison between RGB with band 2 to band 7 of Landsat 8 Satellite shows an improvement of accuracy from 90.283 to 94.473 for U-Net and from 91.76 to 95.183 for DeepLabV3+. In addition, this research also compares two well-known semantic segmentation methods, namely U-Net and DeepLabV3+, that shown that DeepLabV3+ outperformed U-Net regarding to speed and accuracy. Testing was conducted in the Karawang Regency area, West Java, Indonesia.

Towards Emotionally Intelligent Software Engineers: Understanding Students’ Self-Perceptions After a Cooperative Learning Experience

[Background] Emotional Intelligence (EI) can impact Software Engineering (SE) outcomes through improved team communication, conflict resolution, and stress management. SE workers face increasing pressure to develop both technical and interpersonal skills, as modern software development emphasizes collaborative work and complex team interactions. Despite EI’s documented importance in professional practice, SE education continues to prioritize technical knowledge over emotional and social competencies. [Objective] This paper analyzes SE students’ self-perceptions of their EI after a two-month cooperative learning project, using Mayer and Salovey’s four-ability model to examine how students handle emotions in collaborative development. [Method] We conducted a case study with 29 SE students organized into four squads within a project-based learning course, collecting data through questionnaires and focus groups that included brainwriting and sharing circles, then analyzing the data using descriptive statistics and open coding. [Results] Students demonstrated stronger abilities in managing their own emotions compared to interpreting others’ emotional states. Despite limited formal EI training, they developed informal strategies for emotional management, including structured planning and peer support networks, which they connected to improved productivity and conflict resolution. [Conclusion] This study shows how SE students perceive EI in a collaborative learning context and provides evidence-based insights into the important role of emotional competencies in SE education. lab: an R package for generating analysisready data from laboratory records

Background: Electronic health records (EHRs) play a crucial role in healthcare decision-making by giving physicians insights into disease progression and suitable treatment options. Within EHRs, laboratory test results are frequently utilized for predicting disease progression. However, processing laboratory test results often poses challenges due to variations in units and formats. In addition, leveraging the temporal information in EHRs can improve outcomes, prognoses, and diagnosis predication. Nevertheless, the irregular frequency of the data in these records necessitates data preprocessing, which can add complexity to time-series analyses. Methods: To address these challenges, we developed an open-source R package that facilitates the extraction of temporal information from laboratory records. The proposed lab package generates analysis-ready time series data by segmenting the data into time-series windows and imputing missing values. Moreover, users can map local laboratory codes to the Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes (LOINC), an international standard. This mapping allows users to incorporate additional information, such as reference ranges and related diseases. Moreover, the reference ranges provided by LOINC enable us to categorize results into normal or abnormal. Finally, the analysis-ready time series data can be further summarized using descriptive statistics and utilized to develop models using machine learning technologies. Results: Using the lab package, we analyzed data from MIMIC-III, focusing on newborns with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). We extracted time-series laboratory records and compared the differences in test results between patients with and without 30-day in-hospital mortality. We then identified significant variations in several laboratory test results 7 days after PDA diagnosis. This research aims to construct a two-dimensional image to represent an underwater geometry map with a Side Scan Sonar (SSS) mounted on a Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Glider (HAUG). Building the underwater map has two stages of the process. The first stage is preprocessing which includes Time-varying gains (TVG), slant range correction, and ground range correction. The second is HAUG navigation, the movement of HAUG orientation to the angle and distance of SSS readings and plotting the geometry of the grid map. With these two stages, a two-dimensional grid map will be formed. Meanwhile, the 3D plot utilizes slant range and ground range correction to obtain the surface height of the bottom of the pool. From the experiments conducted to conduct mapping in the pool, two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual forms of the pool floor and pool walls were produced. The results of the estimated measurement of the width of the pool obtained 14.05 meters and the height of the pool 3.199 meters with an SSS beam angle of 58 degrees.

In this paper we investigate the suitability of different types of Dynamic Classifier Selection approaches for the task of multimodal music mood classification. The dynamic selection methods evaluated were: KNORA-UNION, KNORAELIMINATE, Dynamic Ensemble Selection Performance, Overall Local Accuracy, Local Class Accuracy, Multiple Classifier Behaviour, A Priori and A Posteriori. The experiments were performed using the Brazilian Music Mood Database, which is a multimodal database, containing the audio signal itself, beyond their visual representation (i.e. spectrogram) and the lyrics. The obtained results have shown that the use of dynamic classifier selection methods can improve the classification results for the task at hand.

Tourist destination reviews on Google Maps have become a valuable point of reference for visitors seeking enjoyable spots to visit. Additionally, users can gain insight into the reasons for writing reviews. Text classification is used to determine the motivation behind these reviews. The aim of this study is to compare machine learning (ML) text classification techniques for identifying the intent behind sentiments expressed as complaints (0), suggestions (1), opinions (2), statements(3), and awards (4). The ML techniques assessed are Multinomial Naive Bayes (MNB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). To achieve this, tourist destination review data sets, comprising 738 reviews, were collected using web scraping from the Google Maps website. Preprocessing stages, including case-folding, tokenisation, filtering and stemming, are executed prior to the data being prepped for feature extraction with TF-IDF. The employed classification models perform well with KNN achieving 1.00 accuracy on a 90:10 data split, and SVM obtaining 0.90 on the same data split. Although, the Multinomial Naive Bayes algorithm with 0.70 accuracy on a 90:10 data split is classified as fair. Comparison of methods was conducted by means of a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) diagram. The testing accuracy for the SVM method was found to be 95%, MNB at 91%, and KNN at 84%.

Melanoma is a malignant form of cancer that affects the skin and has a particularly high mortality rate, so it requires early detection to increase the level of safety for users. Diagnosis and detection of skin cancer are usually done through manual screening and visual inspection. This process requires a long time, has high complexity, is subjective, and is prone to errors. CNN is one of the algorithms with advantages in accurate classification. In this research, early detection and classification of melanoma cancer were carried out based on two classes, namely benign and malignant using the Convolutional Neural Network method. Our proposed method yields an accuracy of 81.11% for the validation data. The accuracy results obtained can be improved by using more datasets and increasing the number of layers used. This study uses the CNN method using MobileNet V2 architecture to detect melanoma skin cancer. The class used is benign and malignant.
