Facial expression recognition(FER)remains a hot research area among computer vision researchers and still becomes a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem depend on hand-crafted features,namely,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform well on image datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform well in the more challenging dataset,which has partial faces and image ***,many studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm optimization with an improved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER model primarily applies the contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the improved SqueezeNet model is exploited to derive an optimal set of feature vectors,and the hyperparameter tuning process is performed by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is employed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experimental analysis is carried out to examine the performance of the proposed *** experimental outcomes indicate the supremacy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a progressive neurological disorder marked by cognitive decline, memory loss, and impaired reasoning, affecting millions globally. Early and accurate diagnosis of AD is crucial for managing the disease, yet traditional diagnostic methods such as clinical assessments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) face significant challenges. This research proposes a novel approach to enhance the diagnostic process by using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to improve brain MRI image quality, thereby aiding automated detection of AD. It involves preprocessing brain MRI scans, designing a GAN for image enhancement, and utilizing these enhanced images in a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for detecting AD. The effectiveness of method is evaluated using key metrics such as accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, comparing its performance to baseline methods using non-enhanced images. Cross-validation and testing with external datasets are conducted to ensure the model's robustness and generalizability. The integrated GAN-CNN framework demonstrated a remarkable accuracy of 99.9 % in predicting AD using MRI images from the OASIS dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic’s increasing fears among people, it has triggered several health complications such as depression and anxiety. Such complications have not only affected developed countries but also developing countries such as Nepal. These complications can be understood from peoples’ tweets and comments posted online after their felicitous analysis and sentiment classification. Nevertheless, owing to the limited number of tokens and words in each tweet, it is crucial to capture multiple pieces of information associated with them for better understanding. In this study, we, first, represent each tweet by combining both syntactic and semantic information, called hybrid features. The syntactic information is generated from the bag-of-words method, whereas the semantic information is generated from the combination of the fastText-based (ft) and domain-specific (ds) methods. Second, we design a novel multi-channel CNN (MCNN) model, which ensembles the multiple CNNs, to capture multi-scale information for better classification. Last, we evaluate the efficacy of both the proposed feature extraction method and the MCNN model classifying tweets into three sentiment classes (positive, neutral, and negative) on the NepCOV19Tweets dataset, which is the only public COVID-19 tweets dataset in the Nepali language. The evaluation results show that the proposed hybrid features outperform individual feature extraction methods with the highest classification accuracy of 69.7% and the MCNN model outperforms the existing methods with the highest classification accuracy of 71.3% during classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2023.

Decentralized optimization algorithms have recently attracted increasing attention due to its wide applications in all areas of science and engineering. In these algorithms, a collection of agents collaborate to minimize the average of a set of heterogeneous cost functions in a decentralized manner. State-of-the-art decentralized algorithms like Gradient Tracking (GT) and Exact Diffusion (ED) involve communication at each iteration. Yet, communication between agents is often expensive, resource intensive, and can be very slow. To this end, several strategies have been developed to balance between communication overhead and convergence rate of decentralized methods. In this paper, we introduce GT-PGA, which incorporates GT with periodic global averaging. With the additional PGA, the influence of poor network connectivity in the GT algorithm can be compensated or controlled by a careful selection of the global averaging period. Under the stochastic, nonconvex setup, our analysis quantifies the crucial trade-off between the connectivity of network topology and the PGA period. Thus, with a suitable design of the PGA period, GT-PGA improves the convergence rate of vanilla GT. Numerical experiments are conducted to support our theory, and simulation results reveal that the proposed GT-PGA accelerates practical convergence, especially when the network is sparse. © 2024 IEEE.

Wireless Sensor Actuator Networks (WSANs) are sensitive to cyber threats due to present static encryption techniques. Adaptive security methods are required in WSAN settings to reduce evolving dangers and maintain data integrity. The paper introduces a novel method for encrypting WSAN data using AI and machine learning. Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks process data, Genetic Algorithms (GAs) optimize encryption, and Isolation Forests detect threats in real-time. The proposed system achieved remarkable performance, with scores of 98% data integrity, 96% error repair, and 95% threat detection accuracy. Encryption rates reach their max at 200 Mbps, with optimal resource usage (30% CPU, 25% RAM) and a 5% false positive rate. The proposed AI-driven security architecture improves data integrity, encryption speed, and overall security efficacy in WSANs, surpassing existing methods. The paper overcomes the limitations of static encryption methods and proposes a proactive protection mechanism against developing cyber threats, making a substantial contribution to WSAN security improvement. © 2024 IEEE.

Healthcare stands out as a critical domain profoundly impacted by Internet of Things (IoT) technology, generating vast data from sensing devices as IoT applications expand. Addressing security challenges is paramount for a successful IoT healthcare framework, with blockchain technology offering a decentralized structure for robust data protection and secure data exchange within multi-node IoT networks. The research introduces a secure IoT healthcare diagnostic model empowered by deep neural networks, emphasizing encryption, safe transactions, and healthcare diagnostics as key components. Notably, the model incorporates innovative techniques like the orthogonal particle swarm optimization algorithm for sharing medical images and a neighborhood indexing sequence method for hash value encryption. The development of an optimized deep neural network-based classification model for illnesses, validated through extensive trials, demonstrates superior performance metrics compared to existing decision-making techniques, with significant improvements in f-Measure (96.25%), sensitivity (93.26%), specificity (94.26%), and accuracy (93.26%). This study’s scientific contribution lies in its innovative approach to securing IoT-healthcare diagnosis models, validated performance enhancements using real-world datasets, and insightful recommendations for future research directions, fostering advancements in healthcare technology for enhanced patient care and system efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Banking produces extensive and diverse data, so a clustering process is needed to understand customer behavior patterns and transactions more effectively. This clustering has been widely utilized with the K-Means algorithm due to its simplicity and efficiency. However, this algorithm is limited in determining the optimal cluster center, affecting the accuracy of the clustering results. This study proposes applying two metaheuristic algorithms, Invasive Weed Optimization (IWO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), as additional solutions combined with K-Means. These two algorithms were chosen because of their ability to find global solutions and convergence speed to handle large and complex banking data. The results show the superiority of IWOKM compared to PSOKM in terms of SSE and DBI. From the SSE value, IWOKM produces a lower value (3029.77), which indicates that this method is better at minimizing clustering errors and producing more accurate clustering than PSOKM (80007.09). From the DBI value, IWOKM also produces a better value (1.6684) than PSOKM (1.6782), which shows that the clusters produced by IWOKM are more compact and more separated. However, in terms of computation time, PSOKM is more efficient, with a faster average computation time. Although IWOKM produces better clustering quality, PSOKM offers advantages in terms of processing speed. This finding confirms that the selection of the IWO algorithm is more appropriate for use on datasets with characteristics such as the German Credit Dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Applications of internet-of-things(IoT)are increasingly being used in many facets of our daily life,which results in an enormous volume of *** computing and fog computing,two of the most common technologies used in IoT applications,have led to major security *** are on the rise as a result of the usage of these technologies since present security measures are *** artificial intelligence(AI)based security solutions,such as intrusion detection systems(IDS),have been proposed in recent *** technologies that require data preprocessing and machine learning algorithm-performance augmentation require the use of feature selection(FS)techniques to increase classification accuracy by minimizing the number of features *** the other hand,metaheuristic optimization algorithms have been widely used in feature selection in recent *** this paper,we proposed a hybrid optimization algorithm for feature selection in *** proposed algorithm is based on grey wolf(GW),and dipper throated optimization(DTO)algorithms and is referred to as *** proposed algorithm has a better balance between the exploration and exploitation steps of the optimization process and thus could achieve better *** the employed IoT-IDS dataset,the performance of the proposed GWDTO algorithm was assessed using a set of evaluation metrics and compared to other optimization approaches in 2678 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 the literature to validate its *** addition,a statistical analysis is performed to assess the stability and effectiveness of the proposed *** results confirmed the superiority of the proposed approach in boosting the classification accuracy of the intrusion in IoT-based networks.

The hope for a futuristic global quantum internet that provides robust and high-capacity quantum information transfer lies largely on qudits,the fundamental quantum information carriers prepared in high-dimensional superposition ***,preparing and manipulating N-dimensional flying qudits as well as subsequently establishing their entanglement are still challenging tasks,which require precise and simultaneous maneuver of 2(N-1)parameters across multiple degrees of ***,using an integrated approach,we explore the synergy from two degrees of freedom of light,spatial mode and polarization,to generate,encode,and manipulate flying structured photons and their formed qudits in a four-dimensional Hilbert space with high quantum fidelity,intrinsically enabling enhanced noise resilience and higher quantum data *** four eigen spin–orbit modes of our qudits possess identical spatial–temporal characteristics in terms of intensity distribution and group velocity,thereby preserving long-haul coherence within the entirety of the quantum data transmission *** leveraging the bi-photon entanglement,which is well preserved in the integrated manipulation process,we present versatile spin–orbit cluster states in an extensive dimensional Hilbert *** cluster states hold the promise for quantum error correction which can further bolster the channel robustness in long-range quantum communication.
