Speech is a fundamental means of human interaction. Speaker Identification (SI) plays a crucial role in various applications, such as authentication systems, forensic investigation, and personal voice assistance. However, achieving robust and secure SI in both open and closed environments remains challenging. To address this issue, researchers have explored new techniques that enable computers to better understand and interact with humans. Smart systems leverage Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to mimic the human brain in identifying speakers. However, speech signals often suffer from interference, leading to signal degradation. The performance of a Speaker Identification System (SIS) is influenced by various environmental factors, such as noise and reverberation in open and closed environments, respectively. This research paper is concerned with the investigation of SI using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and polynomial coefficients, with an ANN serving as the classifier. To tackle the challenges posed by environmental interference, we propose a novel approach that depends on symmetric comb filters for modeling. In closed environments, we study the effect of reverberation on speech signals, as it occurs due to multiple reflections. To address this issue, we model the reverberation effect with comb filters. We explore different domains, including time, Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), and Discrete Sine Transform (DST) domains for feature extraction to determine the best combination for SI in case of reverberation environments. Simulation results reveal that DWT outperforms other transforms, leading to a recognition rate of 93.75% at a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 15 dB. Additionally, we investigate the concept of cancelable SI to ensure user privacy, while maintaining high recognition rates. Particles in the atmosphere, such as dust and smoke, can cause visual clarity problems in both images and videos. Haze is the result of the interaction between airborne particles and light, which is scattered and attenuated. Hazy media present difficulties in a variety of applications due to the reduced contrast and loss of essential information. In response, dehazing techniques have been introduced to bring hazy videos and images back to clarity. Here, we provide a novel technique for eliminating haze. It comprises preprocessing steps before dehazing. Preprocessing is applied to hazy images through homomorphic processing and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE). We present a dehazing technique referred to as the pre-trained Feature Fusion Attention Network (FFA-Net) that directly lets dehazed images be restored from hazy or preprocessed hazy inputs without requiring the determination of atmospheric factors, such as air light and transmission maps. The FFA-Net architecture incorporates a Feature Attention (FA) method to do this task. We assess the proposed technique in a variety of circumstances, including visible frames, Near-Infrared (NIR) frames, and real-world hazy images. Evaluation criteria like entropy, correlation, and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) are used to compare the quality of dehazed frames or images to their hazy counterparts. Furthermore, histogram analysis and spectral entropy are adopted to determine the effectiveness of the proposed technique in comparison to existing dehazing techniques. Comparative results are presented for both real-world and simulated environments. The benefits of the proposed technique are demonstrated by a comparison of the results obtained from the standalone pre-trained FFA-Net and the proposed comprehensive methodology. For a given polygonal region P, the Lawn Mowing Problem (LMP) asks for a shortest tour T that gets within Euclidean distance 1/2 of every point in P;this is equivalent to computing a shortest tour for a unit-diameter cutter C that covers all of P. As a generalization of the Traveling Salesman Problem, the LMP is NP-hard;unlike the discrete TSP, however, the LMP has defied efforts to achieve exact solutions, due to its combination of combinatorial complexity with continuous geometry. We provide a number of new contributions that provide insights into the involved difficulties, as well as positive results that enable both theoretical and practical progress. (1) We show that the LMP is algebraically hard: it is not solvable by radicals over the field of rationals, even for the simple case in which P is a 2 × 2 square. This implies that it is impossible to compute exact optimal solutions under models of computation that rely on elementary arithmetic operations and the extraction of kth roots, and explains the perceived practical difficulty. (2) We exploit this algebraic analysis for the natural class of polygons with axis-parallel edges and integer vertices (i.e., polyominoes), highlighting the relevance of turn-cost minimization for Lawn Mowing tours, and leading to a general construction method for feasible tours. (3) We show that this construction method achieves theoretical worst-case guarantees that improve previous approximation factors for polyominoes. (4) We demonstrate the practical usefulness beyond polyominoes by performing an extensive practical study on a spectrum of more general benchmark polygons: We obtain solutions that are better than the previous best values by Fekete et al., for instance sizes up to 20 times larger. © Sándor P. Android is the most popular Mobile operating system covering above 70% of all smartphone users. Due to its popularity, an increasing number of malware applications are targeting the Android platform, stealing sensitive information, accessing banking apps, etc. These malware applications can be detected with the help of machine learning algorithms by extracting features from those applications. However, previous attempts use traditional methods which require high memory overhead and computational power which is not suitable for continuous real-time data inflow. In this paper, we have pro-posed an incremental decision tree approach to detect mobile malware. Our model has achieved an accuracy of 93.33%, precision of 91.27%, recall of 95.83 %, and F1-Score of 93.50%. Our proposed model can help reduce model retraining time when new malware samples appear. It also requires less storage for historical data while retraining the model. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper investigates the influence of a static robot head on deviations of human hand movements from task direction (motor interference) during simultaneous human and robot arm movements using a collaborative robot arm. Synchronous vertical and horizontal human and robot arm movements are conducted in all combinations (within-subjects factors direction and congruency). The presence of the head (head/ no head) is varied as a between-subjects factor. In this first step, only its motionless presence is deliberately focused at, in order to exclude contributions by eye- or head-movement behavior or facial expressions being difficult variables to generalize from. Participants' hands are tracked optically marker-based and deviations from task-related vertical, respectively, horizontal movements are evaluated. In contrast to expectations, results do not show a significant impact of the robot head on motor interference. Thus, there is evidence, that appearance might not be an activating factor for motor interference in HRI. © 2024 IEEE.

This manuscript presents a hybrid method for optimal energy management in smart home appliances. The proposed approach combines the Ebola Optimization Search Algorithm (EOSA) with the performance of spiking neural networks (SNN). The key objective of the proposed strategy is cost reduction through day-ahead load scheduling while also considering the best demand response (DR), and self-consumption of photovoltaic (PV). The EOSA method manages air conditioning (AC) and ensures thermal comfort. In addition, the SNN method was used to predict the optimal system control signal. Comparative analysis with existing systems, such as PSO, RFA, and BCO, showed that the proposed strategy resulted in 13% cost savings. The proposed system considered parameters, such as solar radiation, occupant presence, and electricity prices. The proposed technique is implemented in the MATLAB software, and the performance is compared with existing approaches. The efficiency of the proposed approach is higher than the existing techniques. © 2024 The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers.
