The supply chain is a large process that is responsible for the delivery of products all around the world. Different hazards can affect the products and cause damage during product delivery, e.g. temperature, moisture, vibrations, etc. Shock and vibrations are common during transporting and handling goods in the supply chain and can cause product failures like breakage, deformation, etc. This paper analyzes the properties of several commercially available acceleration sensors for shock and vibrations detection. A Custom PCB board is developed, and sensors are tested to detect product vibrations and shock in the laboratory environment. Packages can travel long journeys before reaching the set destination. Therefore, power consumption is analyzed for the tested sensors. Presented results show that different acceleration sensors need to be used for vibrations and shock detection in the supply chain. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

This paper presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of a novel 3D-printed helical antenna operating within the 9.4–10.8 GHz frequency band. The antenna, employing a lightweight paper substrate and a strip-based helical structure, exhibits robust circular polarization characteristics and wideband operation. Rigorous simulations predict a peak CP gain of 11.7 dBi at 9.8 GHz and a high simulated radiation efficiency of 95%. Experimental measurements validate these predictions, achieving a peak CP gain of 11.6 dBi at 9.8 GHz. This research demonstrates the potential of 3D-printed helical antennas for diverse applications in modern wireless communication systems, including 5G, satellite communication, and radar. Furthermore, this study leverages the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by employing the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), a sophisticated metaheuristic algorithm, to optimize the antenna’s design. The GWO algorithm is utilized to efficiently search the design space and identify optimal values for key parameters, such as the number of turns, helix pitch, and helix diameter, with the objective of maximizing antenna gain to achieve a target of 15 dBi. This research highlights the potential of AI-driven optimization techniques in advancing the design of high-performance antennas for emerging wireless communication systems. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. Guided bronchoscopy systems, be they image-guided or robotics-assisted, are revolutionizing the field of bronchoscopy, particularly for tasks in peripheral lung regions. To provide guidance, these systems draw on a procedure plan derived from a patient's 3D chest computed tomography (CT) scan. Generally, a procedure plan gives an airway route leading from the trachea to a distal airway close to a diagnostic region of interest (ROI). Unfortunately, the “virtual” chest space, captured by the CT scan used for planning, differs significantly from the “real” chest space encountered during the live procedure. This so-called CT-to-body divergence (CTBD) can produce large guidance errors during a live bronchoscopy, resulting in procedure failure rates on the order of 30%. CTBD arises because the procedure plan relies on a CT scan depicting the chest near total lung capacity (TLC), while the live procedure occurs with the chest near functional residual capacity (FRC), a much lower lung volume. These differences in lung volume lead to mismatches between the guidance system's perceived 3D chest position and bronchoscope's actual chest position. To address this gap, we propose a two-phase method to help mitigate the impact of CTBD on guided bronchoscopy procedures by utilizing spatial information from CT scans obtained at two different lung states. The first phase entails a dual-space procedure planning method that gives two point-by-point synchronized procedure plans: one in TLC space and the other in FRC space. The second phase involves a dual-space guidance procedure, whereby synchronized information in both TLC and FRC spaces are made available during the guided procedure. Results from TLC/FRC CT scan pairs collected for lung cancer patients verify the potential of the method. © 2025 SPIE

In this paper, we introduce EMD-Based Hyperbolic Diffusion Distance (EMD-HDD), a new method for constructing a meaningful distance metric for hierarchical data with latent hierarchical structure. Our method relies on hyperbolic geometry, diffusion geometry, and the Earth Mover’s Distance (EMD). Specifically, our method embeds data points into a product manifold of hyperbolic spaces, allowing us to recover the hidden hierarchical structure encoded by the mutual relationships between features. We demonstrate the effectiveness of EMD-HDD through experiments on five hyperspectral imaging datasets, showcasing its capability to capture and reveal the intrinsic hierarchical structures inherent in such data.

This paper proposes an integrated simulator combining WiLabV2Xsim, a MATLAB-based open-source simulator, and Virtual Test Drive (VTD), a traffic generation and vehicle dynamics simulator developed by HEXAGON, to evaluate Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication performance in real road and driving environments. WiLabV2Xsim is a system-level simulator that implements Cellular-V2X and New Radio-V2X communication protocol stacks. Through VTD, it is possible to implement usecases standardized in 3GPP Technical Report (TR) 22.886 or evaluate V2X communication performance in real environments using virtual environments based on the Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems (ASAM) Open Scenario. Future research plans include evaluating various scenarios based on the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) TR documents through the integrated simulator and conducting studies on wireless resource allocation and decentralized congestion control to enhance V2X communication performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Temporal Knowledge Graph Completion aims to complete missing entities or relations under temporal constraints. Previous tensor decomposition-based models for TKGC only independently consider the combination of one single relation with one single timestamp, ignoring the global nature of the embedding. We propose a Frequency Attention (FA) model to capture the global temporal dependencies between one relation and the entire timestamp. Specifically, we use Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) to capture the frequency of the timestamp embedding and further compute the frequency attention weight to scale embedding. Meanwhile, the previous temporal tucker decomposition method uses a simple norm regularization to constrain the core tensor, which limits the optimization performance. Thus, we propose Orthogonal Regularization (OR) variants for the core tensor, which can limit the non-superdiagonal elements of the 3-rd core tensor. Experiments on three standard TKGC datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art results on several metrics. The results suggest that the direct-current component is not the best feature for TKG representation learning. Additional analysis shows the effectiveness of our FA and OR models, even with smaller embedding dimensions. © 2023 Association for Computational Linguistics.

This paper presents a framework calculating parameters in distributed energy resource (DER) management. It is designed for retail power suppliers holding energy resource aggregator's functions. The calculation framework includes two models of demand response (DR) programs: one is price-based DR, and the other is incentive-based one. For each DR program, the parameters are electricity prices or rebate levels. The authors formulate a power trade between the retail power suppliers and their consumers as a social welfare maximization (SWM) problem. From the viewpoint of SWM, the authors theoretically design the way to set the parameters of the DER management with maximizing the social welfare, while reducing imbalance between power supply and demand. The social welfare is defined as the sum of the retail power suppliers' surplus and the consumers' one in this paper. Through numerical simulations, the authors validate that the calculation framework induces the amount of power consumption to the target value of the DER management and increases the social welfare with reducing the power imbalance. © 2023 IEEE.

We address the problem of safely coordinating a network of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) in conflict areas of a traffic network. Such problems can be solved through a combination of tractable optimal control problems and Control Barrier Functions (CBFs) that guarantee the satisfaction of all constraints. These solutions can be reduced to a sequence of Quadratic Programs (QPs) which are efficiently solved online over discrete time steps. However, guaranteeing the feasibility of the CBF-based QP method within each discretized time interval requires the careful selection of time steps which need to be sufficiently small. This creates computational requirements and communication rates between agents which may limit the controller's application to real CAVs. We tackle this limitation by adopting an event-triggered control approach for CAVs such that the next QP is triggered by properly defined events with a safety guarantee. We present a laboratory-scale test bed developed to emulate merging roadways using mobile robots as CAVs. We present results to demonstrate how the event-triggered scheme is computationally efficient and can handle measurement uncertainties and noise compared to time-driven control while guaranteeing safety. © 2023 IEEE.

We propose a fast and accurate multi-target tracking method, Twice Check. This method is a multi-target tracking method, which matches the newly appeared track and the just disappeared track, and adds the low-frame quadratic verification and linear interpolation to repair the track. Our method, combined with the current SOTA method, can improve the effect of the original method on the open multi-target tracking challenge (MOT) dataset. The experimental results show that our Twice Check can effectively increase the effect of the current tracking model, and our method is simple and does not increase the tracking time. © 2023 SPIE.

Vehicle Management Systems (VMSs) are crucial in location-based services for optimizing transportation efficiency, traffic flow, and overall mobility for individuals and businesses. To further enhance their performance, smart VMSs must leverage existing traffic data it gathers by detecting and tracking vehicles periodically. However, despite recent advancements in traffic monitoring, there remains a need for an efficient and up-to-date system, especially in dense traffic or situations requiring aerial monitoring. This paper focuses on the importance of detecting and tracking multiple vehicles in such systems, presenting a two-way validation architecture that integrates CCTV and drone images to enhance accuracy and authenticity. The architecture utilizes the YOLO pretrained model for CCTV images, which is subsequently fine-tuned for drone images. Results demonstrate an accuracy of 99% and a mean average precision of up to 97%. Lastly, the proposed architecture is used for two real-time applications of vehicle counter and lane detection which shows its validity and ability in aforementioned situations. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2023.
