Robust video question answering via contrastive cross-modality representation learning

Video question answering(VideoQA) is a challenging yet important task that requires a joint understanding of low-level video content and high-level textual semantics. Despite the promising progress of existing efforts, recent studies revealed that current VideoQA models mostly tend to over-rely on the superficial correlations rooted in the dataset bias while overlooking the key video content, thus leading to unreliable results. Effectively understanding and modeling the temporal and semantic characteristics of a given video for robust VideoQA is crucial but, to our knowledge, has not been well investigated. To fill the research gap, we propose a robust VideoQA framework that can effectively model the cross-modality fusion and enforce the model to focus on the temporal and global content of videos when making a QA decision instead of exploiting the shortcuts in datasets. Specifically, we design a self-supervised contrastive learning objective to contrast the positive and negative pairs of multimodal input, where the fused representation of the original multimodal input is enforced to be closer to that of the intervened input based on video perturbation. We expect the fused representation to focus more on the global context of videos rather than some static keyframes. Moreover, we introduce an effective temporal order regularization to enforce the inherent sequential structure of videos for video representation. We also design a Kullback-Leibler divergence-based perturbation invariance regularization of the predicted answer distribution to improve the robustness of the model against temporal content perturbation of videos. Our method is model-agnostic and can be easily compatible with various VideoQA backbones. Extensive experimental results and analyses on several public datasets show the advantage of our method over the state-of-the-art methods in terms of both accuracy and robustness.

Intrusion detection systems(IDS)are one of the most promising ways for securing data and networks;In recent decades,IDS has used a variety of categorization *** classifiers,on the other hand,do not work effectively unless they are combined with additional algorithms that can alter the classifier’s parameters or select the optimal sub-set of features for the *** are used in tandem with classifiers to increase the stability and with efficiency of the classifiers in detecting *** algorithms,on the other hand,have a number of limitations,particularly when used to detect new types of *** this paper,the NSL KDD dataset and KDD Cup 99 is used to find the performance of the proposed classifier model and compared;These two IDS dataset is preprocessed,then Auto Cryptographic Denoising(ACD)adopted to remove noise in the feature of the IDS dataset;the classifier algorithms,K-Means and Neural network classifies the dataset with adam *** classifier is evaluated by measuring performance measures like f-measure,recall,precision,detection rate and *** neural network obtained the highest classifying accuracy as 91.12%with drop-out function that shows the efficiency of the classifier model with drop-out function for KDD Cup99 *** their power and limitations in the proposed methodology that could be used in future works in the IDS area.

EFS-XGBoost: A robust framework for precision classification of COVID-19 cases

The emergence of the novel COVID-19 virus has had a profound impact on global healthcare systems and economies, underscoring the imperative need for the development of precise and expeditious diagnostic tools. Machine learning techniques have emerged as a promising avenue for augmenting the capabilities of medical professionals in disease diagnosis and classification. In this research, the EFS-XGBoost classifier model, a robust approach for the classification of patients afflicted with COVID-19 is proposed. The key innovation in the proposed model lies in the Ensemble-based Feature Selection (EFS) strategy, which enables the judicious selection of relevant features from the expansive COVID-19 dataset. Subsequently, the power of the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) classifier to make precise distinctions among COVID-19-infected patients is *** EFS methodology amalgamates five distinctive feature selection techniques, encompassing correlation-based, chi-squared, information gain, symmetric uncertainty-based, and gain ratio approaches. To evaluate the effectiveness of the model, comprehensive experiments were conducted using a COVID-19 dataset procured from Kaggle, and the implementation was executed using Python programming. The performance of the proposed EFS-XGBoost model was gauged by employing well-established metrics that measure classification accuracy, including accuracy, precision, recall, and the F1-Score. Furthermore, an in-depth comparative analysis was conducted by considering the performance of the XGBoost classifier under various scenarios: employing all features within the dataset without any feature selection technique, and utilizing each feature selection technique in isolation. The meticulous evaluation reveals that the proposed EFS-XGBoost model excels in performance, achieving an astounding accuracy rate of 99.8%, surpassing the efficacy of other prevailing feature selection techniques. Unstructured Numerical Image Dataset Separation (UNIDS) method employing an enhanced unsupervised clustering technique. The objective is to delineate an optimal number of distinct groups within the input grayscale (G-S) image content, utilizing the improved limited iteration agglomerative clustering (iLIAC) clustering technique for the separation and enhancement of picture elements. The UNIDS method is structured into two primary stages: partitioning and validation. In the partitioning stage, the UNIDS method identifies an appropriate number of discrete clusters within the grayscale image using the iLIAC technique, eliminating the need for predetermined procedures. Subsequently, the method evaluates the similarity and deviation among data elements within the same group in the resultant image dataset. Additionally, it assesses the proximity and inters severance among clusters in the outcome of the image dataset through the partitioning process. Empirical results indicate that the UNIDS system excels in the spontaneous identification of an optimal number of discrete clusters within the input G-S image. The system demonstrates superior thickness, reduced deviation among data elements within the same cluster, increased inter-separation, and diminished inter-closeness between cluster elements. A lightweight approach for intrusion detection in WSNs based on DCGAN

Ensuring strong security procedures is crucial in the rapidly advancing realm of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in order to protect sensitive data and preserve network integrity. The resource limitations and unpredictable environments that characterize WSNs frequently provide challenges for traditional intrusion detection systems (IDS). To overcome these issues, this research introduces a unique lightweight intrusion detection system that utilizes Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks (DCGAN). The proposed system employs wireless sensor network blackhole flooding selective forwarding (WSN-BFSF) dataset for training and evaluation. The suggested approach improves the IDS’s detection capabilities in addition to reducing computing overhead. The findings show that the lightweight DCGAN-based IDS provides an improved defense against new security threats, making it a good fit for real-time deployment in WSNs. Here, the performance metrics like receiver operating characteristic (ROC) is evaluated to check the efficiency of the model. The proposed model is assessed with the existing studies based on metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall and f1-score. The results show that the proposed approach attains the highest accuracy (94%) thus outperforming the existing methods and studies. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Robust Deep Convolutional Solutions for Identifying Biotic Crop Stress in Wild Environments

In the realm of agricultural automation, the precise identification of crop stress holds immense significance for enhancing crop productivity. Existing methods primarily focus on controlled environments, which may not accurately reflect field conditions. Field-based leaf image analysis poses challenges due to varying image quality and sunlight intensity. Moreover, the complexity of crop stress images, with their random lesion distribution, diverse symptoms, and complex backgrounds, further complicates the analysis. To overcome these limitations, a lightweight hybrid convolutional neural network has been developed. This system integrates the powerful three-deep blocks model with an autoencoder running in parallel to highlight regions of crop stress effectively. To support this approach, we have introduced the Indian Rice Disease Dataset (IRDD) with labeled images. The proposed system reports an average true positive rate (TPR) of 0.8766 and an average positive predicted value of 0.8720 on IRDD, which are higher than other state-of-the-art crop disease detection models. The system is validated on benchmark datasets, yielding significant results: TPR of 0.9870 (rice), 0.9985 (tomato), and 0.8559 (corn). Furthermore, the proposed model outperforms recent state-of-the-art works on the benchmark PlantDoc dataset, showing its effectiveness in generalizing plant disease identification tasks. Finally, an ablation study has been carried out to explore the importance of the two parallel branches. Overall, this study acts as a bridge between advanced science and practical application, showcasing how interdisciplinary automation could revolutionize crop disease identification, improve agricultural efficiency, and reshape broader industrial practices. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent decades,fog computing has played a vital role in executing parallel computational tasks,specifically,scientific workflow *** cloud data centers,fog computing takes more time to run workflow ***,it is essential to develop effective models for Virtual Machine(VM)allocation and task scheduling in fog computing *** task scheduling,VM migration,and allocation,altogether optimize the use of computational resources across different fog *** process ensures that the tasks are executed with minimal energy consumption,which reduces the chances of resource *** this manuscript,the proposed framework comprises two phases:(i)effective task scheduling using a fractional selectivity approach and(ii)VM allocation by proposing an algorithm by the name of Fitness Sharing Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization(FSCPSO).The proposed FSCPSO algorithm integrates the concepts of chaos theory and fitness sharing that effectively balance both global exploration and local *** balance enables the use of a wide range of solutions that leads to minimal total cost and makespan,in comparison to other traditional optimization *** FSCPSO algorithm’s performance is analyzed using six evaluation measures namely,Load Balancing Level(LBL),Average Resource Utilization(ARU),total cost,makespan,energy consumption,and response *** relation to the conventional optimization algorithms,the FSCPSO algorithm achieves a higher LBL of 39.12%,ARU of 58.15%,a minimal total cost of 1175,and a makespan of 85.87 ms,particularly when evaluated for 50 tasks.

This study analyses the revolutionary integration of Internet of Things (IoT) structures in healthcare through a complete examination of outstanding case research. The first case study focuses on real-time patient fitness monitoring in a clinic setting. The suggested device utilizes an Internet of Things-ready device that has many sensors, including oxygen, pressure, and temperature sensors. The issues of forecasting patient health in advance are handled with the deployment of machine learning models, notably Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Decision Trees (DT), and Support Vector Machines (SVM). The second case study analyses IoT's effect on patient-precise medication identification and remote fitness monitoring, uncovering issues associated with accessibility, pricing, and human interfaces. Proposed alternatives, which incorporates greater education, increased accessibility, and user-pleasant interfaces with robust technical assistance, have been evaluated with 30 patients over a three-month duration. The results reveal a great growth in impacted person health, along with heightened attention of periodic health monitoring. The results highlight how IoT technologies may transform healthcare procedures by offering pro-active solutions for patients' well-being. This study offers insightful information that may be used to solve practical issues, promote patient-centered solutions, and broaden the scope of the healthcare period. A significant step towards a patient-centered and technologically advanced healthcare environment, the successful outcomes validate the capacity for sustained innovation, cooperation, and improvement in the integration of IoT systems for optimal patient care. © 2024 IEEE.
