The Smart Parking System is an innovative solution designed to tackle the challenges of parking in densely populated urban areas. By integrating advanced technologies such as RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sensors, automated gate systems, and proximity sensors, the system delivers a streamlined and efficient parking experience. RFID technology automates entry and exit processes by recognizing vehicles equipped with RFID tags, reducing wait times and enhancing security through controlled access. Proximity sensors at each parking spot monitor occupancy in real-time, feeding data to a central management system that directs drivers to available spaces via digital signage or a mobile app. This real-time guidance decreases search time, reduces congestion, and improves overall parking organization. Designed with scalability and future-readiness, the system's central management unit can integrate additional features like payment processing, reservation systems, and predictive analytics powered by machine learning. This adaptability ensures the system remains relevant as technology advances and user needs evolve. The Smart Parking System also promotes sustainability by minimizing vehicle idling and carbon emissions, contributing to a reduced environmental impact. For users, the system offers a more convenient, secure, and efficient parking experience. Colon cancer is a significant health concern, ranking as the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and the second in women. Early detection is crucial in reducing the incidence and mortality rates associated with this malignancy. This paper introduces a novel Feature Aggregated Region-based Differential Network (FA-RDNet) designed for the accurate classification of colon cancer from histopathological images. Our approach leverages Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) to effectively handle large datasets structured as bags of instances, addressing the limitations of conventional MIL techniques. A key innovation of our work is the integration of an adaptive feature enhancement module that bilaterally updates multi-level deep features, allowing for efficient extraction of both low-level details and high-level semantic information. Furthermore, we introduce the Kookaburra Optimization Algorithm (KOA) to fine-tune the parameters of FA-RDNet, utilizing a unique two-phase mathematical modeling process inspired by the hunting behaviors of kookaburras. This enhances the model's optimization and classification accuracy. The effectiveness of our proposed system is validated using the publicly available LC25000 dataset, where it achieved a remarkable accuracy of 94.42%, outperforming existing state-of-the-art methods in colon cancer detection. The high computational efficiency and accuracy of FA-RDNet highlight its potential for practical applications in clinical settings, marking a significant advancement in the field of medical image analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Brain tumor identification and categorization serve a precarious role in early diagnosis and treatment planning. This study suggests a new deep learning (DL)-based structure for the automatic detection and categorization of brain cancers using medical imaging technologies. The framework uses a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) with an exclusive segmentation technique, notably the U-Net architecture, to discrete tumor areas in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. The DCNN model, which contains multiple convolutional layers, is used for feature extraction, followed by fully connected layers for tumor classification. To increase segmentation accuracy, the U-Net model integrates both encoder-decoder structures and skip connections to capture fine-grained spatial details. The suggested algorithm is trained and evaluated on a large dataset of brain MRI images, achieving high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity for both tumor detection and classification. Experimental results show that the model outclasses standard methods, providing a dependable and operative solution for the early detection and diagnosis of brain cancers, potentially aiding clinical decision-making processes. © 2025 IEEE.

Brain–machine interfaces (BMIs) offer significant promise for enabling paralyzed individuals to control external devices using their brain signals. One challenge is that during the online brain control (BC) process, subjects may not be completely immersed in the task, particularly when multiple steps are needed to achieve a goal. The decoder indiscriminately takes the less engaged trials as training data, which might decrease the decoding accuracy. In this article, we propose an alternative kernel RL-based decoder that trains online with continuous parameter update. We model neural activity from the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), a reward-related brain region, to represent task engagement. This information is incorporated into a stochastic learning rate using an exponential model, which measures the relevancy of neural data. The proposed algorithm was evaluated in the experiment where rats performed a cursor-reaching BC task. We found the neural activities from mPFC contained the engagement information which was negatively correlated with trial response time. Moreover, compared to the RL method without task engagement modeling, our proposed method enhanced the training efficiency. It used half of the training data to achieve the same reconstruction accuracy of the cursor trajectory. The results demonstrate the potential of our RL framework for improving online BC tasks. © 2016 IEEE.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are airborne nodes that are controlled remotely from ground stations. They have been used in a variety of applications in recent years, including disaster management, military operations, search and rescue, ecological study, and others. Among the advancements, the notion of Flying Ad-hoc Networks (FANETs) stands out. FANET, functions remotely like Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) and Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), are an advancement over standard networking systems. Ad-hoc networks are necessary for both civilian and military operations, demanding a variety of support systems. In Ad-hoc Networks, data is always sent under all situations, which is required for seamless communication across all UAVs. In contrast, the complex dynamics and ever-changing topology of UAV networks make it difficult for researchers to integrate efficient routing procedures into FANETs. The accomplishment of UAV routing procedures is related to the total network's success rate. Producing a routing system capable of cost- effective and reliable data transfer in such a difficult environment is a difficult assuming. In this study, we look at routing protocols using the NS3 simulator. In this research, we investigate routing protocols using the NS3 simulator. The study looks at the effectiveness of several UAV routing protocols, including Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), and Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR). These protocols' performance is evaluated using a variety of measures, including Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Packet Loss Ratio (PLR), Throughput, End-to-End Delay, and Jitter Delay. The findings estimation the effectiveness of routing processes in the presence of varying UAV speeds. This research carefully explores how different routing protocols function under varied UAV intensities and speeds. © 2024 IEEE.

Face recognition under occlusion presents a persistent challenge in computer vision, primarily due to difficulties in capturing and effectively integrating visible and obscured facial features. This paper introduces a novel device-edge collaborative framework that advances occluded face recognition through an innovative cross-domain feature fusion technique. Our method employs a software-generated, occlusion-aware heatmap created from standard visible-light images, which emphasizes key facial landmarks even when regions of the face are partially covered. This heatmap provides a complementary data layer that enhances traditional visible facial features, allowing the cross-domain feature fusion process to synthesize a more comprehensive set of features for reliable recognition under occlusion. The combined feature set leverages both visible and simulated heatmap information to improve model robustness, even in complex occlusion scenarios. Additionally, a delay-optimized task scheduling method is applied on the edge, ensuring efficient resource allocation, faster processing, and minimal latency. Although this project is ongoing, preliminary evaluations indicate the potential effectiveness of this approach, with expected outcomes to include high recognition accuracy and reduced latency. This framework provides a scalable solution for occluded face recognition by integrating complementary data sources without requiring specialized hardware. © 2025 IEEE.

The ringed residual u-net with non-natural regions feature for image splicing forgery detection and localization

Recently, with the emergence of many image editing tools (photoshop, Topaz studio, etc.), the authenticity of images has been severely challenged. However, the performance of some existing traditional feature extraction methods and detection methods based on convolutional neural network (CNN) is poor, and the information provided by the features extracted from the network is limited and single. In this paper, an end-To-end ringed residual U-Net is proposed to detect image splicing forgery by blending features of non-natural regions. Some regions with significant differences from the image background are defined as non-natural regions(such as the irregular border at the splicing of images). In this paper, a feature enhancement module for non-natural regions is constructed, which the image through the pooling of four different scales, and these features are then combined with the original image and input to the backbone network for processing, aiming to highlight regions of the image that differ significantly from the background. Therefore, after adding the feature enhancement module for non-natural regions to the end-To-end ring residual U-Net, more attention will be paid to the tampering regions in the feature extraction stage, image manipulation detection and localization will also become more accurate. Compared with some mainstream methods, this method achieves better performance on the three standard datasets(CASIA2.0, NIST2016, COLUMBIA). Analyzing the social interactions and texts on Twitter can provide valuable insights into users' behavior, opinions, and even their geographical locations. Location inference of users within a social network finds applications in various domains, such as targeted advertising and public health monitoring. Inference techniques through social interactions, such as co-mentions, remain a favored method for constructing user social networks. Co-mentions, however, introduce a substantial number of noisy relationships that impact the overall network structure and prediction of the location of a user. Furthermore, previous approaches have overlooked the examination of cohesive groups or community structures within an individual's ego network for location prediction. This paper introduces a predictive model called DSF-GAM (DS stand for document similarity, F stands for frequencies and GAM stands for Generalized Additive Model). which redesigns social interactions based on mentions to infer user location on Twitter. DSF-GAM introduces a novel and innovative social graph, termed a user relation graph. DSF-GAM employs a generalized additive model (GAM) for location inference. The fundamental contribution of DSF-GAM lies in the representation of data using a new graph structure with enriched community features and edges. The experimental results on well-known datasets demonstrate that DSF-GAM outperforms other state-of-the-art methods based on both content and network approaches and mixed results in hybrid approaches. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
