The Schottky source/drain Al 2 O 3 /InAlN/GaN MISHEMTs feature steep switch-on behavior assisted by a dynamic charge-detrapping process is experimentally demonstrated. The SSD MISHEMTs exhibit steep SS (~20 mV/dec), high On/Off ratio (-109) and appreciable drive current (230mA/mm). The low SS is maintained over a wide range of drain bias voltage and temperature.

A depth map represents three-dimensional (3D) scene information and is used to synthesize virtual views in 3D video. Since the quality of synthesized virtual views highly depends on the quality of depth map, efficient depth compression is crucial to realize the 3D video system. However compressing depth map using existing video coding techniques yields unacceptable distortions while rendering virtual views. To solve this problem, we propose an efficient depth map compression method for the view rendering, a novel distortion metric base on view rendering distortions instead of distortion of depth map itself. First, we derive relationships between distortions in coded depth map and rendered view. Then, a region based video characteristics distortion model is proposed for precisely estimation distortion in view synthesis. Finally, experimental results have shown that 1.8 dB coding gain in terms of PSNR and subjective quality improvement of synthesized views are achieved by the proposed method.

We observe through simulations that an information sharing scheme using variable identifiers in mobile ad-hoc networks, which we previously proposed, enables us to heuristically find desired information by having identifiers varied. In the information sharing, people create identifiers that represent their interest, and information published by the people are probabilistically propagated using distances between identifiers of the people. The identifiers of the people dynamically change depending on people surrounding each person. Under a situation that an identifier is variable, we set how many times people obtained desired information to be an observation item. Also, we consider a process that people heuristically find desired information into a simulation model and set how many times people obtain such information to be an observation item. In simulations, we show examples of observation for these items.

Ridesharing has the great opportunity to reduce the consumption of energy and the emission of harmful gases, and to let people share the traffic costs with others. Most of the current ridesharing systems simply provide a number of candidates for users to choose. Time-consuming negotiation often discourages people from ridesharing. We propose a novel approach that assigns users to form ridesharing groups according to their routes and payments. Given a driver, our goal is to find a group of passengers who will pay the driver the most. Under the payment scheme, the passengers who share rides on the same route will equally share the expense with the driver. For the prompt response to an online system, our approach aims for the near-optimal group, where the available seats on the driver route are occupied by passengers as many as possible. Compared with the previous methods, the experiment results show that our approach incurs a little overhead but obtains answers of good quality, measured by the driver's saving, under various parameter settings.

Dispenser cathode is used in microwave tubes as source of electrons. We investigate high current density emission capabilities of alloy-coated cathodes used for terahertz vacuum devices. In this paper the developmental work carried out on ternary-alloy-film cathode (2Os:2Re:1W) and the results are presented. The cathodes were tested inside a closed spaced diode and also analytical chamber containing Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), Thermionic Emission Microscope (THEM) facility. Emission current densities measured in the diode structure at 1300° K temperature were above 60 A/cm 2 . The work function was found 1.72 eV using 73% slope method. To ensure the life of the cathode accelerated life test has been carried out in closed spaced diode at 1300° K temperature.

Currently, most algorithms for High dynamic range (HDR) images focus on dynamic range compression denoted as tone mapping, which can make more details in the dark areas and highlight areas visible. However, the lighting condition in which the images are taken is not considered, as a result, the mapped images may have color cast. We know that Human visual system (HVS) can perceive a scene regardless of the changes in lighting conditions. Therefore, to obtain an image that corresponds to direct observation of the scene for human eyes, dynamic range compression alone is not sufficient. In this paper, we propose a method called Realistic scene rendition (RSR) to deal with HDR images, which is a model combining the dynamic range compression and chrominance adjustment. The two processes are parallel, which is the most difference from other methods that serve the dynamic range compression as a preprocessing. Furthermore, in order to improve the visual quality of images, we propose a contrast enhancement technique. The results show that RSR can maintain details as well as other tone mapping methods and the visual appearance is more similar to the real-world scene perceived by HVS.
