Forecasting exchange rate is one of the most important research topics in financial time series field. In this paper, the author combine fuzzy time series model with fuzzy clustering method to predict the USD/CHY exchange rate. The empirical results show that this method can obviously obtain higher forecasting precision than some traditional ones.

The 3-layer workflow scheduling model consist of front layer, outside scheduling layer and inside scheduling layer, it can describe the task scheduling more clearly than conventional models. This paper mainly discusses the improved Dijkstra algorithm with multi-precondition, which is the core of this model, converts the classical Dijkstra algorithm into an useful way to calculate the shortest path in weighted directed graph with multi-precondition. The experiment proved out the 3-layer workflow scheduling model based on improved Dijkstra algorithm an efficient model. ©2009 IEEE.

Human Endogenous RetroViruses(HERVs) are suggested that they have a function of regulating the activity of human genes and could produce protein in some conditions. So it is crucial to examine the physical layout relationship between HERVs and genes in the whole genome scale. In this paper we present RetroScope, a new Web-based comparative visualization system for HERV over 4 whole primate genomes including Human, Chimpanzee, Orangutan and Rhesus monkey. So RetroScope enables us to find the retro element which is very close to a specified gene in the form of exonoverlapping or promotor, primer overlapping. Thus our system enables biologist to provide global understanding by comparing the linear configuration of several HERVs in the whole chromosome scales by using a fast HERV alignment algorithm. Also by alignment of HERVs, we can find the most similar pair of chromosomes with respect to the configuration of HERV elements, which would be another clues to construct phylogenetics based on HERV. In Mobile ad hoc networks, the unstable transport layer and inhibited amount of traffic being carried out by the network is owing to the high packet loss rates and frequent topological changes. It is essential that least available bandwidth and end-to-end latency along with congestion around a link are integrated in a QoS-based routing metric for MANETs. In this paper we develop a QOS-based, Robust Multipath Routing (QRMR) protocol for mobile ad hoc networks to allot weights to individual links, depending on the metrics link quality, channel quality and end-to-end delay. The individual link weights are combined into a routing metric to validate the load balancing and interference between links using the same channel. Consequently, the traffic is balanced and the network capacity is improved as the weight value assists the routing protocol to evade routing traffic through congested area. Subsequently, the selection of the proportion of traffic to be routed to each neighbor is made to perform routing such that the weight of the node is a possible minimum. We illustrate the robustness of our protocol as it accomplishes increased packet delivery ratio with reduced latency, through simulation results. ©2009 IEEE.

The increasing demand for World Wide Web (WWW) services has made document caching a necessity to decrease download times and reduce Internet traffic. This work aims at implementing SEMALRU- A Semantic and Least Recently Used Web cache replacement policy. The basic LRU replacement policy is augmented with Semantic content of web pages to improve the efficiency of the replacement algorithms in terms of Hit Rate and Byte Hit Rate and to minimize the number of replacements made in cache. There are many well-known cache replacement policies based on size, recency, and frequency. This new improvised replacement policy attempts to implement cache replacement based on two parameters namely the semantics of the contents of web pages and the time of last access of the document. SEMALRU evicts documents that are less related to an incoming document or least recently used document which needs to be stored in the cache. This makes sure that only related documents are stored in the cache;hence the contents of the cache represent the documents of interest to the user and then ranked by recency. This policy tunes the performance of the existing replacement algorithms through analyzing the semantic content of the document and the recency of the document. A detailed algorithm to identify unrelated documents and documents that are least recently used has been devised. The policy was tested in a simulated environment with the related and unrelated set of user access pattern. . The parameters pertinent to cache replacement algorithms are computed and the results showing the improvement in the efficiency of the algorithm are furnished. ©2009 IEEE.

The distributed clustering algorithm is used to cluster the distributed datasets without necessarily downloading all the data into a single place. Many applications can benefit from frizzy clustering, where each object is assigned to multiple clusters with membership weight that sum to one. This paper proposes a novel ensemble based distributed frizzy clustering algorithm to produce frizzy clusters among homogeneously distributed datasets. The frizzy C-Means technique is used to cluster local datasets. Two novel approaches of centroid based ensemble methods are introduced to generate global centroid. which is used to generate global frizzy clusters in distributed environment. Their performance is evaluated against traditional centralized clustering approach. The experiments are earned out for various datasets of UCI machine learning data repository. Middleware facilitates the development of distributed systems by accommodating heterogeneity, hiding distribution details and providing a set of common and domain specific services. It plays a central and essential role for developing distributed systems. However, middleware is considered a mean rather than core elements of development process in the existing distributed systems software process. This paper explains the concept of middleware by categorizes middleware and analysis the problems of current middleware architectures. It also extracts three essential non-functional requirements of middleware and proposes a middleware-based distributed systems software process. The proposed software process consists in five phases: requirements analysis, design, validation, development and testing. The characteristics of middleware are considered in the entire software process. © 2009 ACM.

In recent years, many researchers and vendors have proposed their XML storage approaches based on relational databases (RDB), which are called XML-relational databases (XRDB). To manipulate XML data in XRDB, many excellent model-mapping schemas were proposed to provide schema definitions to translate various XML documents with different structures into relational tables. Such an approach can support any sophisticated applications and well-formed XML documents. When XML data stored in an XRDB, the user query must be translated into the corresponding SQL commands, then executed in the relational database. However, most model-mapping-schema-based approaches have a potential performance problem for retrieving XML data from an XRDB, because a large number of join operations are needed. In this paper, a novel query preprocessing technique will be proposed to reduce the number of join operations from the corresponding SQL commands. The rationale behind our approach is to replace join operations by predefined constant-mapping selection operations. By reducing the number of join operations, the performance of query processing can be greatly improved. The capability of our proposed approach was verified by experiments, for which we have some encouraging results. © 2009 IEEE.

MRI studies in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have focused primarily on manual based hippocampal volumetry, which is located in the subcortical. However, the cortical reduction or increase caused especially by thickness changes has not been well investigated. Recent advances in computational analysis provide new opportunities to use fully automatic techniques to measure cortical thickness, along with a method called voxel-based morphometry that enables an exploration of structural changes throughout the brain by applying statistical parametric mapping (SPM) to high-resolution MRI. In this paper, Laplacian method was used to estimate cortical thickness and the thickness maps were analyzed by SPM5. Comparison was performed between 14 survivors of mining disaster with PTSD and 11 survivors of the same event without PTSD. The results indicate that in the cingulate gyrus and temporal gyrus, the cortical thickness of survivors with PTSD is larger than those without PTSD. ©2009 IEEE.

Leaf vein contains significant physiological information of plant. Leaf vein extraction is one of the key steps in plant modeling and plant recognition. Several methods have been presented on leaf vein extraction but all of them are limited in narrow application fields. In this paper a universal method is proposed using hue and intensity information. According to the color difference between leaf vein and mesophyll, leaves are classified as the contrasting color leaf and the concolorous leaf. Leaf vein of the contrasting color leaf can be extracted using only hue information. Leaf vein extraction of the concolorous leaf needs both hue and intensity information. The method has been programmed under Visual C++6.0 and many leaves from different plants have been tested. The results show a good applicability. Compared with other method, new method is simple, fast and universal. It can be embedded in the leaf feature extraction system and work in human-computer interaction way. ©2009 IEEE.
