In order to improve the imaging quality of conventional laser photography, this study proposes a new system for colored pulse laser photography to obtain high speed color microscopic imaging. Based on the RGB synthesis technique, three channels of red, green, and blue images are acquired from three cameras with three independent laser light sources. Then, a high quality color image can be obtained by assembling the monochromatic images with the image realignment and color calibration processes. The experimental results show that the proposed system can achieve a high quality colored pulse photography.

Fuzzy time series forecasting model is an effective method to solve the nonlinear problems forecasting. However, most published fuzzy time series based models did not count the change trend implicit in historical datum. In this paper, authors proposed a novel method which applied heuristic information to the fuzzy time series model based on Fibonacci sequence. As an example, the USD/JPY exchange rate is tested in this model. The results show that this method not only improves the forecasting accuracy, but decreases the computational complexity.

In order to control systems that contain nonlinearities or uncertainties, control strategies must deal with the effects of these. Since most control methods based on mathematical models have been mainly focused on stability robustness against nonlinearities or uncertainties, they are limited in their ability to improve the transient responses. In this paper, a nonlinear fuzzy auto-tuning PID control method is built, which can stably improve the transient responses of systems disturbed by nonlinearities or unknown mathematical characteristics. Although the derivation of the control law is based on the design procedure for general fuzzy logic controllers, the resultant control algorithm has analytical form with time varying PID gains rather than linguistic form. This means the proposed method can be easily and effectively applied to real-time control situations. It will be implemented by using an ARM processor LPC2210 from Philips. Control simulations are carried out to evaluate the transient performance of the suggested method through example systems, by comparing its responses with the nonlinear fuzzy PID control method.

In a multihop wireless network (MWN), access points (APs) in an MWN should provide high reliability to improve network availability. However, APs do not always work well. An AP may stop functioning due to a power outage or may malfunction for various reasons, including malicious attacks. To maintain MWN availability, the network should work autonomously to treat unreliable APs appropriately. In this paper, we propose an AP evaluation system in which each AP attempts to evaluate neighboring APs in collaboration with other APs that are neighbors of the target. Furthermore, each AP exchanges its evaluation result with other APs and attempts to use the result to control the MWN. We evaluate our proposed scheme using simulations to confirm its effectiveness.

In order to provide the high quality service for transporting video streaming in the Bluetooth Piconet, in which the bandwidth is limited and the structure is heterogeneous, a MAC scheduling algorithm for video streaming in the Bluetooth Piconet is proposed. The main idea of the algorithm is to model the video streaming and calculate the importance of the packet relative to the video quality before transporting. The packet on the transportation is scheduled by the importance in the MAC layer to attain the maximum perceived quality of the overall Slaves in the Piconet. The simulation shows that the proposed algorithm can assign the network resource more efficiently, and improve the perceived video quality of the Slaves in the Piconet more significantly in contrast with the other algorithms.

Mobility management in the wireless domain is a challenging issue for the next generation networks. Frequent change of network requires a new IP address to route packets from one host to another. It is done by sending the mobile node (MN) binding update to the Home Agent (HA) when the Care of address (CoA) gets changed. This registration requires large number of location updates, excessive signaling overhead and service delay. This problem is solved by Hierarchical Mobile IP (HMIP) protocol using the concept of hierarchy of Foreign Agent and the Gateway Foreign Agent /Mobility Anchor point to localize the registration information. This article presents an overview of set of HMIP based mobility protocols such as HMIP, PHMIP, RHMIP, DHMIP, FFHMIP, MIFA etc. that will play an important role in IP based mobility management. We analyze the advantages and disadvantages of theses protocols in the context of handoff latency and signaling overhead. Further, we propose a network model by removing the binding update with HA and simulate its performance in OPNET simulator. The simulation results show that our proposed mechanism achieve better performance than other protocols.

The aim of the wafer defect inspection is to detect defective dies and discard them. The defective dies were usually identified through visual judgment with the aid of a scanning electron microscope. Dozens of engineers visually check wafers and hand-mark the defective regions leading to a significant amount of personnel cost. In this paper, a complete solution which consists of two Hopfield neural networks is proposed to detect the defective dies of wafer image. The experimental results show the proposed method successfully identifies the defective dies on LED wafers images with good performances.

This paper presents a general software optimization technique which enables an embedded system to play Windows Media Audio (WMA) fluently without the support of floating point unit (FPU). We employ fixed-point arithmetic operations, instead of floating-point, to optimize the computational overhead during the audio decoding process. Thus the proposed performance improvements by programming in C language are useful for the implementation of the real-time WMA compatible decoder on ARM920T based embedded system. This work achieved performance increase by reducing the CPU usage rate from 100% to 45% with great precision on the average around 1-bit error.
