Motion retargeting from videos to 3D virtual character is a challenging task in computer vision and computer graphics. A solution is first to extract the 3D motion sequences from videos using human pose estimation algorithm and then retarget to 3D virtual character by skeleton motion retargeting algorithm. However, manual skeleton mapping is often necessary because of the difference in skeleton topology between pose estimation and 3D virtual character, introducing uncertainty and potentially compromising the semantics of the original motion. Additionally, the results of pose estimation contain noise while existing skeleton motion retargeting algorithms do not consider the influence of noise inputs in their design. In response to the above issues, we propose a novel motion retargeting framework and introduce a new motion retargeting network named CTBRnet (Combined Transformer Bi-LSTM Retargeting network). The framework leverages existing algorithm to generate paired training data, providing supervision to CTBRnet and enabling CTBRnet to learn potential skeleton mapping. The framework utilizes human motion videos as input and generates retargeting results for virtual characters, which are driven by joint rotations aligned with the virtual character's skeletal topology. Our proposed network combines transformer and Bi-LSTM, effectively capturing stable high-dimensional motion features from noisy results of pose estimation in both global and local perspectives. The experimental results show that our framework can achieve motion retargeting from videos to 3D virtual character with different skeleton topology, and compared with existing skeleton motion retargeting networks, CTBRnet reduces joint position errors while enhancing the smoothness. © 2024 IEEE.

In today's modern world, efficient programming is a necessity. To speed up code generation nowadays, programming code is generated using different graphical tools. Although efficient, this technology is scarcely used in embedded system development. In this paper, we present a procedure for block-based visual programming with applications in embedded systems development. We present several examples of blocks using the Blockly open-source visual programming tool and test the implementation on selected Infineon XMC-based boards. The presented programming solution shows successful implementation of block-based visual programming in embedded systems development. © 2024 IEEE.

Using an aspect-based sentiment analysis task, sentiment polarity towards specific aspect phrases within the same sentence or document is to be identified. The process of mechanically determining the underlying attitude or opinion indicated in the text is known as sentiment analysis. One of the most important aspects of natural language processing is sentiment analysis. The RoBERTa transformer model was pretrained in a self-supervised manner using a substantial corpus of English data. This means it was pretrained solely with raw texts and an algorithmic process to generate inputs and labels from those texts. No human labelling was involved, allowing it to utilise a vast amount of publicly available data. The authors of this work provide a thorough investigation of aspect-based sentiment analysis with RoBERTa. The RoBERTa model and its salient characteristics are outlined in this work, followed by an analysis of the model's optimisation by the authors for aspect-based sentiment analysis. The authors compare the RoBERTa model with other state-of-the-art models and evaluate its performance on multiple benchmark datasets. Our experimental results show that the RoBERTa model is effective for this important natural language processing task, outperforming competing models on sentiment analysis tasks. Based on the SemEval-2014 variant benchmarking datasets, the restaurant and laptop domains have the highest accuracy, scoring 92.35 % and 82.33 %, respectively. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. Recent advances in machine learning have made forged video and audio more convincing. This poses a threat to the security of individuals, societies and nations. To address this threat, the ASVspoof initiative was conceived to spearhead research on Automatic Speaker Verification (ASV) for anti-spoofing. Currently, most research on ASVspoof has focused on detecting whether speech has been tampered with. However, little attention has been paid to the recognition of speech forgery algorithms. Moreover, in the real world, new forgery algorithms keep emerging, making it difficult to adapt forgery algorithm recognition models trained under closed-set conditions to realistic open-set scenarios. Therefore, we propose a method based on prototype learning and adaptive thresholding for recognizing speech forgery algorithms in open-set. The method uses manifold mixup and dummy prototypes to simulate and recognize unknown speech forgery algorithms. Prototype classification improves the ability to recognize speech forgery algorithms with high similarity. At the same time, it has the advantage of preventing catastrophic forgetting and facilitates subsequent incremental training using samples of newly recognized forgery algorithms. Thus, our method increases the number of recognized categories for forgery algorithms. Experimental results show that our method is effective. Glioblastoma is an aggressive type of brain cancer with a high mortality rate. Early and accurate glioblastoma detection is crucial for timely and effective treatment. Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) has emerged as a promising tool for brain tumor detection, as it can capture detailed spectral information that can be leveraged for classification. This paper proposes a novel modified deep learning architecture named 3D InceptionNet to classify hyperspectral brain images. 3D InceptionNet combines the advantages of 3D convolutional layers and the InceptionNet module to extract and learn discriminative features from the 3D hyperspectral data. To demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed approach, we evaluated its performance on an in-vivo hyperspectral brain image dataset using various performance measures. © 2024 IEEE.

As a new federated learning(FL) paradigm, clustered federated learning (CFL) could effectively address the issue of model training accuracy loss due to different data distribution in FL. However, the introduction of the clustering process also brings new risks. Adversaries can implement model poisoning by adding crafted perturbations with clients' model parameters, potentially resulting in overall clustering failure. To tackle this problem, we propose a client detection and parameter correction framework in this paper. Our approach aims to identify malicious clients by analyzing the difference in vector parameter density distribution between malicious and benign clients. We precisely locate malicious perturbations in the parameters and recover them, enabling the server to effectively utilize benign updates for normal clustering and training within the CFL framework. Experiment results show that our defense algorithm outperforms others, consistently improving training accuracy by an average of 30% under various kinds of attacks. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). In the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), the role of vehicle detection and classification is indispensable for streamlining transportation management, refining traffic control, and conducting in-depth accident analyses. However, the intricate task of accurately detecting multi-oriented vehicles in diverse scenarios remains a challenge, even with the advancements in ITS. Factors such as vehicle morphology, design, road conditions, structural details, and climatic variables provide a significant part in the detection. To address this, our study introduces an advanced YOLOv8n model, specifically the YOLOv8n-CGW, which is built upon pre-trained deep learning frameworks. This model is meticulously tailored to enhance the detection capabilities for multi-oriented vehicles. Comprehensive evaluations on esteemed datasets like MtV, MERGED, Custom dataset, DAWN, WEDGE, and UA-DETRAC underscore the superiority of our approach over existing models. Notably, our YOLOv8n-CGW model achieves a remarkable mAP of 83.3% and boasts a swift inference time of 0.0019s, setting a new benchmark in the domain. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The goal of multi-object tracking(MOT) is to detect and track interested objects in videos. It is more challenging to track multiple players in soccer videos, and most existing detection and tracking approaches are not applicable owing to the factors such as similar appearances. Focus-anddetect approaches are introduced to soccer scene in this paper. These approaches, originally proposed for small objects, comprise two stages: the focus stage predicts the regions that potentially contain objects using low-resolution feature maps, while the detect stage performs subsequent detection task based on the results of focus stage. Furthermore, an innovative mechanism focus bank is proposed to complement the focus stage results in tracking by collecting and analysing the information from previous frames. QueryDet is chosen as the representative of the focus-and-detect approaches and conducts extensive experiments on the SoccerNet dataset. In order to demonstrate the flexibility and generalizability of the focus bank, two focus bank schemes are designed and applied to three different trackers respectively. The experiments results show that these approaches achieve consistent improvements in MOTA ranging from 0.1 to 0.4 for all trackers, only with negligible computational cost. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents measurements of the reflection and transmission coefficient of electromagnetic waves through concrete and two concrete-based composites: concrete with steel fibers and concrete with carbon fibers with the aim of enhancing the attenuation of electromagnetic waves passing through concrete and concrete composites. The frequency range for which the measurements were carried out extends from 30 MHz to 18 GHz and includes most of the existing stationary (and mobile) radiation EM sources in the environment in which the general population moves (FM, DVBT2, 2G - 5G mobile radio systems, stationary radar border area control systems). The measurement results show that as the thickness of the concrete increases, the transmission through concrete and concrete composites decreases (parameter S12 decreases). Furthermore, composites with carbon fibers partially reduce, while those with steel fibers significantly reduce, the transmission of EM waves through such composites. The reduction of parameter S12 by composites with steel is up to 52 dB (at a frequency of 2.9 GHz) for a block thickness of 100 mm. It is important to emphasize that in the case of composites with steel fibers, the influence of the fibers on the transmission parameters is more significant than the thickness of the sample. The reason for this is the increase in electrical conductivity of composites with steel fibers due to the increased proportion of conductive components in the concrete. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
