Photovoltaic panel used in solar power generation is an environmentally beneficial and sustainable energy source that has been used to transform sunlight into electrical power. Arranged in large solar facilities, these panels are connected to a central inverter, which converts Direct Current (DC) to alternating current (AC) electricity with a small amount of energy loss. Clean surfaces, unhindered light exposure, and high solar irradiance are all necessary for optimal panel performance. It's critical to assess the inverter's efficiency by comparing its AC to DC power. Large-scale installations with sensor-equipped panels and inverters track performance to help with maintenance and forecasting of power generation. The Internet of Things (IoT) facilitates data accessibility and remote monitoring, which helps choose the best location for solar power generation. Smart system continuous monitoring expedites site inspections, which supports urban smart grid integration. In this research study, a hybrid machine learning model is presented by combining the attention processes, long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, and clustering approaches. This model is separated into different phases for forecasting, training, and cloud data clustering, finds pertinent historical data, builds a hybrid machine learning model, and chooses the best training model. In comparison to conventional approaches, this method significantly improves prediction accuracy, which is important for integrating photovoltaic systems into smart grids, particularly in smart cities. © 2024 IEEE.

Clouds are highly customizable infrastructures that offer a platform as a service and let customers subscribe on a pay-as-you-go basis to their requirements. The straightforward service-oriented cloud computing model is gaining popularity around the world. The number of people using the Cloud is constantly growing. Clouds use modern data centers to manage a massive number of users. The reliability of the Cloud depends on load balancing. Balancing virtual machine loads lowers energy consumption and task rejections by optimizing resource utilization. One can increase performance while using fewer resources using load balancing, resource management, quality of service, etc. The difficulty of overloading and underloading virtual machines in cloud computing can be lessened by load balancing in the *** research study thoroughly examined the load-balancing algorithms found in the literature. First, the traditional approaches are analyzed before moving on to more recent work on load balancing with heterogeneous techniques. Along with the tools available for the current investigation, various metrics are used to evaluate the load-balancing algorithms. The proposed article will primarily serve to assist in the development of new algorithms in the future. © 2023 IEEE.

ReCSA:a dedicated sort accelerator using ReRAM-based content addressable memory

With the increasing amount of data,there is an urgent need for efficient sorting algorithms to process large data *** sorting algorithms have attracted much attention because they can take advantage of different hardware's *** the traditional hardware sort accelerators suffer“memory wall”problems since their multiple rounds of data transmission between the memory and the *** this paper,we utilize the in-situ processing ability of the ReRAM crossbar to design a new ReCAM array that can process the matrix-vector multiplication operation and the vector-scalar comparison in the same array *** this designed ReCAM array,we present ReCSA,which is the first dedicated ReCAM-based sort *** hardware designs,we also develop algorithms to maximize memory utilization and minimize memory exchanges to improve sorting *** sorting algorithm in ReCSA can process various data types,such as integer,float,double,and *** also present experiments to evaluate the performance and energy efficiency against the state-of-the-art sort *** experimental results show that ReCSA has 90.92×,46.13×,27.38×,84.57×,and 3.36×speedups against CPU-,GPU-,FPGA-,NDP-,and PIM-based platforms when processing numeric data *** also has 24.82×,32.94×,and 18.22×performance improvement when processing string data sets compared with CPU-,GPU-,and FPGA-based platforms.

Cyber security is dynamic as defenders often need to adapt their defense postures. The state-ofthe-art is that the adaptation of network defense is done manually(i.e., tedious and error-prone). The ideal solution is to automate adaptive network defense, which is however a difficult problem. As a first step towards automation, we propose investigating how to attain semi-automated adaptive network defense(SAND). We propose an approach extending the architecture of software-defined networking, which is centered on providing defenders with the capability to program the generation and deployment of dynamic defense rules enforced by network defense tools. We present the design and implementation of SAND, as well as the evaluation of the prototype implementation. Experimental results show that SAND can achieve agile and effective dynamic adaptations of defense rules(less than 15 ms on average for each operation), while only incurring a small performance overhead.

CVD continues to pose a substantial global health burden, demanding the need for the creation of precise predictive models that can aid in the timely identification and evaluation of risks. This research paper aims to provide a thorough examination of the prediction of CVD by utilizing CNN in aggregation with hyperparameter tuning techniques. This paper examines the effectiveness of three widely recognized CNN architectures, namely ResNet, VGGNet, and Xception CVD. The Tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE) is utilized as a method for tuning hyperparameters in order to optimize the CNN models. The study commences with a comprehensive examination of the dataset, encompassing a wide array of cardiovascular CT image data. The chosen CNN architectures serve as the fundamental framework for our predictive models. The selection of these architectures is based on their established track record in effectively addressing image analysis tasks and their capacity to accurately capture complex patterns and features present in medical images. The models undergo training using a dataset in order to acquire knowledge about distinctive features that are linked to various cardiovascular conditions. The experimental findings presented in the study indicate that the utilization of the Xception architecture, in aggregation with TPE for hyperparameter optimization, yields the most favorable predictive accuracy. Specifically, the achieved accuracy rate of 98.26% is notably remarkable. This result highlights the significance of not only choosing advanced CNN architectures but also optimizing their hyperparameters to fully exploit their potential in predicting cardiovascular disease. This establishes it as a promising tool for the early diagnosis and risk assessment of CVD. This study establishes a fundamental basis for future investigations in the advancement of precise and dependable predictive models applicable to various medical imaging contexts. © The Author(s), under exclusive license

Layer-Wise Learning Rate Optimization for Task-Dependent Fine-Tuning of Pre-Trained Models: An Evolutionary Approach

The superior performance of large-scale pre-Trained models, such as Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) and Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GPT), has received increasing attention in both academic and industrial research and has become one of the current research hotspots. A pre-Trained model refers to a model trained on large-scale unlabeled data, whose purpose is to learn general language representation or features for fine-Tuning or transfer learning in subsequent tasks. After pre-Training is complete, a small amount of labeled data can be used to fine-Tune the model for a specific task or domain. This two-stage method of "pre-Training+fine-Tuning"has achieved advanced results in natural language processing (NLP) tasks. Despite widespread adoption, existing fixed fine-Tuning schemes that adapt well to one NLP task may perform inconsistently on other NLP tasks given that different tasks have different latent semantic structures. In this article, we explore the effectiveness of automatic fine-Tuning pattern search for layer-wise learning rates from an evolutionary optimization perspective. Our goal is to use evolutionary algorithms to search for better task-dependent fine-Tuning patterns for specific NLP tasks than typical fixed fine-Tuning patterns. Experimental results on two real-world language benchmarks and three advanced pre-Training language models show the effectiveness and generality of the proposed framework. © 2024 held by the owner/author(s).

Crowd management and analysis(CMA)systems have gained a lot of interest in the vulgarization of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)*** tracking using UAVs is among the most important services provided by a *** this paper,we studied the periodic crowd-tracking(PCT)*** consists in usingUAVs to follow-up crowds,during the life-cycle of an open crowded area(OCA).Two criteria were considered for this *** first is related to the CMA initial investment,while the second is to guarantee the quality of service(QoS).The existing works focus on very specified assumptions that are highly committed to CMAs applications *** study outlined a new binary linear programming(BLP)model to optimally solve the PCT motivated by a real-world application study taking into consideration the high level of *** closely approach different real-world contexts,we carefully defined and investigated a set of parameters related to the OCA characteristics,behaviors,and theCMAinitial infrastructure investment(e.g.,UAVs,charging stations(CSs)).In order to periodically update theUAVs/crowds andUAVs/CSs assignments,the proposed BLP was integrated into a linear algorithm called PCTs *** main objective was to study the PCT problem fromboth theoretical and numerical *** prove the PCTs solver effectiveness,we generated a diversified set of PCTs instances with different scenarios for simulation *** empirical results analysis enabled us to validate the BLPmodel and the PCTs solver,and to point out a set of new challenges for future research directions.

A Genetic Algorithm for Solving Sudoku Based on Multi-Armed Bandit Selection

In this paper, we introduce a Genetic Algorithm based Upper Confidence Bound (GA-UCB), an innovative hybrid genetic algorithm integrating Multi-Armed Bandit (MAB). It effectively addresses the challenges of solving large and intricate Sudoku puzzles, thus overcoming the constraints of traditional genetic algorithms. In GA-UCB, reinforcement learning (RL) is applied to simulate parent selection and crossover. By learning the optimal parent selection within a given population, the population evolves. Based on this technology, GA-UCB demonstrates improved results in solving complex Sudoku puzzles. GA-UCB is compared with several state-of-the-art algorithms on Sudoku puzzles of different difficulty levels and shows a 55% improvement in convergence speed compared to previous research results, particularly in the most challenging instance among the six Sudoku puzzle instances tested © 2018 IEEE.

Point-of-interest(POI)recommendations in location-based social networks(LBSNs)have developed rapidly by incorporating feature information and deep learning ***,most studies have failed to accurately reflect different users’preferences,in particular,the short-term preferences of inactive *** better learn user preferences,in this study,we propose a long-short-term-preference-based adaptive successive POI recommendation(LSTP-ASR)method by combining trajectory sequence processing,long short-term preference learning,and spatiotemporal ***,the check-in trajectory sequences are adaptively divided into recent and historical sequences according to a dynamic time ***,an adaptive filling strategy is used to expand the recent check-in sequences of users with inactive check-in behavior using those of similar active *** further propose an adaptive learning model to accurately extract long short-term preferences of users to establish an efficient successive POI recommendation system.A spatiotemporal-context-based recurrent neural network and temporal-context-based long short-term memory network are used to model the users’recent and historical checkin trajectory sequences,*** experiments on the Foursquare and Gowalla datasets reveal that the proposed method outperforms several other baseline methods in terms of three evaluation *** specifically,LSTP-ASR outperforms the previously best baseline method(RTPM)with a 17.15%and 20.62%average improvement on the Foursquare and Gowalla datasets in terms of the Fβmetric,respectively.
