Media power,the impact that media have on public opinion and perspectives,plays a significant role in maintaining internal stability,exerting external influence,and shaping international dynamics for nations/***,prior research has primarily concentrated on news content and reporting time,resulting in limitations in evaluating media *** more accurately assess media power,we use news content,news reporting time,and news emotion simultaneously to explore the emotional contagion between *** use emotional contagion to measure the mutual influence between media and regard the media with greater impact as having stronger media *** propose a framework called Measuring Media Power via Emotional Contagion(MMPEC)to capture emotional contagion among media,enabling a more accurate assessment of media power at the media and national/regional *** also interprets experimental results through correlation and causality analyses,ensuring *** analyses confirm the higher accuracy of MMPEC compared to other baseline models,as demonstrated in the context of COVID-19-related news,yielding compelling and interesting insights.

Genotyping of structural variations considering copy number variations(CNVs)is an infancy and challenging ***,a prevalent form of critical genetic variations that cause abnormal copy numbers of large genomic regions in cells,often affect transcription and contribute to a variety of *** characteristics of CNVs often lead to the ambiguity and confusion of existing genotyping features and algorithms,which may cause heterozygous variations to be erroneously genotyped as homozygous variations and seriously affect the accuracy of downstream *** the allelic copy number increases,the error rate of genotyping increases *** instances with different copy numbers play an auxiliary role in the genotyping classification problem,but some will seriously interfere with the accuracy of the *** by these,we propose a transfer learning-based method to genotype structural variations accurately considering *** method first divides the instances with different allelic copy numbers and trains the basic machine learning framework with different genotype *** maximizes the weights of the instances that contribute to classification and minimizes the weights of the instances that hinder correct *** adjusting the weights of the instances with different allelic copy numbers,the contribution of all the instances to genotyping can be maximized,and the genotyping errors of heterozygote variations caused by CNVs can be *** applied the proposed method to both the simulated and real datasets,and compared it to some popular algorithms including GATK,Facets and *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the others in terms of accuracy,stability and *** source codes have been uploaded at github/TrinaZ/CNVtransfer for academic use only.

Graphics rendering on web browsers serves as the foundation for numerous web applications. Compared with the widely employed WebGL, the next-generation web graphics API, WebGPU, demonstrates an enhanced capacity to adapt to modern GPU features, boasting more significant potential. However, our experiment shows that the performance of current graphics rendering frameworks based on WebGPU lags behind those built on WebGL. Such discrepancy primarily arises from an incomplete alignment with WebGPU's distinctive features. The individual rendering of each graphic leads to redundant communication between the CPU and GPU. To enhance the graphics performance on the web, we introduce the FusionRender to harness the power of WebGPU. To mitigate redundant communication, FusionRender assigns a unique signature to each object and employs these signatures for grouping, enabling the consolidation of graphics rendering whenever possible. In simulated experiments involving the rendering of multiple objects, FusionRender improves the rendering performance by 29.3%-122.1% compared with the existing optimal baseline. In real cases with more complex features, performance improvement ranges from 9.4% to 39.7%. Additionally, FusionRender exhibits robust performance enhancement across various devices and browsers. © 2024 ACM.

This study investigates a new approach to improving diagnosis for ALL using Convolutional Neural Networks. In this work, a hybrid approach was proposed, merging the Xception and DenseNet121 architecture to classify images of blood cells. The approach should try to address critical problems that include limited Labeled data, class imbalance, and variability in image quality that might impede precise detection. The hybrid CNN model itself automatically extracts the critical features, thereby considerably improving the diagnostic accuracy. The model was tested on a dataset of blood smear images that resulted in 99.69% training accuracy and more than 97% validation accuracy. These results emphasize the strength and efficiency of this model in distinguishing ALL-positive samples from ALL-negative ones. The research presented here extends the knowledge of automated diagnostic tools by proposing a more effective and consistent method for early and accurate diagnosis of ALL and provides the foundation for further developments in diagnostics related to leukemia. © 2024 IEEE.

Neural networks have shown promising performance in collaborative filtering and matrix completion but the theoretical analysis is limited and there is still room for improvement in terms of the accuracy of recovering missing values. This paper presents a neuron-enhanced autoencoder matrix completion (AEMC-NE) method and applies it to collaborative filtering. Our AEMC-NE adds an element-wise autoencoder to each output of the main autoencoder to enhance the reconstruction capability. Thus it can adaptively learn an activation function for the output layer to approximate possibly complicated response functions in real data. We provide theoretical analysis for AEMC-NE as well as AEMC to investigate the generalization ability of autoencoder and deep learning in matrix completion, considering both missing completely at random and missing not at random. We show that the element-wise neural network has the potential to reduce the generalization error bound, the data sparsity can be useful, and the prediction performance is closely related to the difference between the numbers of variables and samples. The numerical results on synthetic data and five benchmark datasets demonstrated the effectiveness of AEMC-NE in comparison to many baselines. © 2024 12th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2024. Recent geometric-based approaches have been shown to efficiently model complex logical queries (including the intersection operation) over Knowledge Graphs based on the natural representation of Venn diagram. Existing geometric-based models (using points, boxes embeddings), however, cannot handle the logical negation operation. Further, those using cones embeddings are limited to representing queries by two-dimensional shapes, which reduced their effectiveness in capturing entities query relations for correct answers. To overcome this challenge, we propose unbounded cylinder embeddings (namely CylE), which is a novel geometric-based model based on three-dimensional shapes. Our approach can handle a complete set of basic first-order logic operations (conjunctions, disjunctions and negations). CylE considers queries as Cartesian products of unbounded sector-cylinders and consider a set of nearest boxes corresponds to the set of answer entities. Precisely, the conjunctions can be represented via the intersections of unbounded sector-cylinders. Transforming queries to Disjunctive Normal Form can handle queries with disjunctions. The negations can be represented by considering the closure of complement for an arbitrary unbounded sector-cylinder. Empirical results show that the performance of multi-hop reasoning task using CylE significantly increases over state-of-the-art geometric-based query embedding models for queries without negation. For queries with negation operations, though the performance is on a par with the best performing geometric-based model, CylE significantly outperforms a recent distribution-based model. © 2023 Association for Computational Linguistics.

There is a huge demand for machine translation to design automated auto-encoders that can convert English to the Telugu language. Neural machine translation (NMT) is a new and effective technology that has significantly benefited traditional machine translation strategies. As a result, the primary goal of this work is to propose an auto-encoder–decoder-based deep neural network for translating English to the Telugu language. Deep neural networks are used for learning, where input language is supplied to the neural network following data processing and analysis. The neural network then does auto-tuning, which helps to improve the translation quality. This proposed work produces target sentences in the Telugu language, resulting in a higher Bilingual Evaluation Understudy (BLEU) Score and a lower Word Error Rate (WER). The BLEU finds the similarity of the translated text by Machine Translation models with high-quality references and WER finds better accuracy in identifying the target sentence. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Adaptive Neuro Transformers for Stroke Lesion Segmentation: GatedNeuroTransUNet Implemented using CNNs with Bottleneck Residual Blocks

Accurate lesion segmentation is essential for diagnosing and treating strokes. However, the task of segmenting stroke lesions is difficult due to the intricate backgrounds and noise prevalent in medical images. To tackle this challenge, the proposed research introduces an enhanced U-Net architecture integrating pre-trained CNN blocks, bottleneck residuals, and an adaptive gated neuro transformer with a modified MLP. This novel architecture is structured to assimilate both local and global aspects, thereby improving segmentation accuracy. The pre-trained CNN blocks in the architecture take advantage of features learned through supervised tasks, which enhances the model's generalization abilities. Bottleneck residual blocks are incorporated to perform high-level feature extraction and dimensionality reduction, that is essential for managing the complexities inherent in medical imagery. The adaptive gated neuro transformer, equipped with a novel MLP, will efficiently captures long-range correlations by utilizing spatial data, further refining the segmentation process. To confirm our model's efficacy, we conducted trials with the ATLAS and ISLES2022 collections. Observations showed that our model markedly surpassed traditional approaches, highlighted by substantial enhancements in the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) and decreases in the Hausdorff Distance (HD). Such indicators are vital for assessing the precision and reliability of segmentation methods. In addition to its quantitative success, the proposed method excels qualitatively by preserving edges and accurately detecting lesion boundaries. This indicates that the proposed improved U-Net transformer architecture is not only effective in segmenting stroke lesions but also holds considerable promise for clinical application. QuMIN: quantum multi-modal data fusion for humor detection

Humour detection has attracted considerable attention due to its significance in interpreting dialogues across text, visual, and acoustic modalities. However, effective methods to map correlations among different modalities remain an active area of research. In this study, we go beyond traditional machine learning techniques by introducing a Variational Quantum Circuit (VQC) that capitalizes on the inherent quantum properties of superposition, entanglement, and interference. Our proposed model, Quantum Multi-Modal data Fusion (QuMIN), is designed to better capture and reproduce the interaction across modalities, as well as the internal correlations within each modality. Our introduction of the novel VQC, which augments the DialogueRNN baseline with only an additional 4,809 parameters, signifies a substantial advancement in multi-modal humor detection with improvements of 12.34% in precision, 8.84% in recall and 10.57% in F1 score compared to the state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Sarcasm, a sort of sentiment characterized by a disparity between the apparent and intended meanings of the text, is a key component of sentiment analysis, opinion extraction, and social media analytics. However, sarcasm detection in Bangla has not received sufficient research attention yet. Moreover, there hasn't been a significant amount of study done comparing traditional and contextual word embeddings for the Bengali language. This study aims to address this gap by comparing traditional embedding by using the Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit - BiGRU model and contextual embedding by using Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers - BERT for sarcasm detection in Bangla. The collection of the dataset of Bangla text was from social media platforms, containing labelled instances - whether it provides sarcasm or non-sarcasm. Pre-trained word embeddings i.e. GloVe and FastText are used as traditional embedding for this study. By using metrics like precision, recall and F1-score, the performances for both models have been obtained. When the two traditional word embedding approaches are compared, GloVe embedding with Bi-GRU has outperformed FastText embedding with a macro-averaged F1 score of 0.9395. On the other hand, contextual word embedding using BERT has outperformed both the traditional approaches having a better macro-averaged F1 score of 0.9572 and greater class-wise performance as compared with traditional embedding for both non-sarcastic (96%) and sarcastic (96%) text detection. In our findings, contextual word embedding i.e. BERT has performed better as compared with the two traditional word embeddings for this specific Bangla sarcasm detection binary classification task. © 2023 IEEE.
