Multi-feature Fusion Deep Network for Skin Disease Diagnosis

The skin acts as an important barrier between the body and the external environment, playing a vital role as an organ. The application of deep learning in the medical field to solve various health problems has generated increasing interest. The objective of this research is to create a new model using a deep network with multi-feature fusion that enables accurate identification of various skin diseases. This paper proposes a fully fused network (FFN), which includes an improved single block (ISB) and an improved fusion block (IFB) to achieve optimal performance. To implement this, a convolutional neural network-based model for multi-class recognition of skin images has been developed, in which ISB is used to segment diseases in skin images. The IFB module is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the fused network. The model is built and evaluated using our proprietary dataset (Skin_disease_v1) along with publicly available datasets, namely ISIC2016, ISIC2017, and HAM10000. The highest accuracy achieved in experiments was 86% for ISB, 90% for IFB, and 92% for FFN using HAM10000 (for ResNet101V2), HAM10000 (for Resnet50 + ResNet101V2), and HAM10000 (for Resnet50 + ResNet101V2). This shows an accuracy improvement of 9.2%, 13.2%, and 15.2% compared to the state-of-the-art ISB, IFB, and FFN approaches, respectively. Circular RNAs(circRNAs)are RNAs with closed circular structure involved in many biological processes by key interactions with RNA binding proteins(RBPs).Existing methods for predicting these interactions have limitations in feature *** view of this,we propose a method named circ2CBA,which uses only sequence information of circRNAs to predict circRNA-RBP binding *** have constructed a data set which includes eight ***,circ2CBA encodes circRNA sequences using the one-hot ***,a two-layer convolutional neural network(CNN)is used to initially extract the *** CNN,circ2CBA uses a layer of bidirectional long and short-term memory network(BiLSTM)and the self-attention mechanism to learn the *** AUC value of circ2CBA reaches *** of circ2CBA with other three methods on our data set and an ablation experiment confirm that circ2CBA is an effective method to predict the binding sites between circRNAs and RBPs.

Poor and rich squirrel algorithm-based Deep Maxout network for credit card fraud detection

This paper proposes a Poor and Rich Squirrel Algorithm (PRSA)-based Deep Maxout network to find fraud data transactions in the credit card system. Initially, input transaction data is passed to the data transformation phase, transforming data using Yeo-Johnson (YJ) transformation. Then, the feature selection procedure is done by the Fisher score for creating the unique and significant features. Next, based on the selected textures, the data augmentation mechanism is done using the oversampling model. At last, the fraud detection is carried out by the Deep Maxout network, which is trained by the proposed PRSA optimisation algorithm, derived by integrating Poor and Rich Optimisation (PRO) and Squirrel Search Algorithm (SSA). The integration of parametric features of the PRSA algorithm effectively trained the classifier to update weights to generate the best solution by considering fitness measures. The proposed method achieved the best accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity measures of 0.96, 0.95 and 0.94, respectively. Copyright © 2025 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Predicting Diabetes Disease Occurrence Using Logistic Regression: An Early Detection Approach

Diabetes disease is prevalent worldwide, and predicting its progression is crucial. Several model have been proposed to predict such disease. Those models only determine the disease label, leaving the likelihood of developing the disease unclear. Proposing a model for predicting the progression of disease becomes essential. Therefore, this article proposes a logistic regression model to anticipate the likelihood of Diabetes syndrome incidence. The model exploit capabilities of logistic regression by using sigmoid function. The model's performance was evaluated using the Pima Indians Diabetes dataset and demonstrated high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. The prediction accuracy rate was 77.6%, with a sensitivity of 72.4%, specificity of 79.6%, Type I Error of 27.6%, and Type II Error of 20.4%. Furthermore, the model indicates the feasibility of using laboratory tests, such as Pregnancies, Glucose, Blood Pressure, BMI, and DiabetesPedigreeFunction, to predict disease progress. VGIS (Virtual Geographic Information System) Platform is a unified oilfield operations management platform based on MaaS (Management as a Service) that integrates advanced technologies such as AIoT (Artificial Intelligence & Internet of Things), GIS (Geographic Information System), Digital Twin, and AR (Augmented Reality)/ VR (Virtual Reality). The VGIS platform connects, collects, integrates, analyses, and acts on disparate data sources to provide the oilfield with a centralized view to help make informed decisions fast, bring operational visibility across all assets to improve safety and operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve margins, provide comprehensive analytics and decision support, increase business agility, and reduce management complexity. This is a case study of the application of the VGIS platform Majnoon oilfield, Basrah, Iraq. VGIS digital transformation, production process, and KPIs (Key performance indicators) are highly managed taking oilfield management to a higher level globally, in this study, the objective is to address and resolve the issue of high costs associated with using cloud services by utilising a local Data Center (a large group of networked computer servers typically used by organizations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data). This approach involves directly uploading 3D maps to ensure faster service on the intranet, eliminating the need to pay for cloud *** aims providing a platform for researching and implementing monitoring and controlling processes in a more convenient and remote manner. The vGIS platform has emerged as a crucial instrument in the realm of disaster response and crisis management. This technology enables responders to rapidly evaluate, analyse, and respond to crucial information in real-time. The increasing incidence of forest and land fires has become an urgent global concern in recent decades. In an effort to improve detection and understanding of forest fires, information technology-based approaches have become a major focus. This study explores the sustainability of forest and land fire detection through the perspective of scientific knowledge and bibliometric analysis to determine current developments and the latest insights in research. This study integrates open data with network-based visualization to present the latest developments in the scientific literature about forest fire detection. This article identified research trends, collaboration patterns, and contributions to relevant knowledge. The results highlight the evolution and technological trends in forest fire detection approaches as well as a focal point for future research. This approach provides valuable insights for researchers, practitioners and decision makers in efforts to mitigate and handle forest fires earlier and more effectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Human-computer interaction as a coordinating element between human and machine is used in many different ways. Due to their digital processes, countless industries are dependent on an effective intermeshing of humans and machines. This often involves preparatory work or sub-processes being carried out by machines, which humans initiate, take up, continue, finalise or check. Tasks are broken down into sub-steps and completed by humans or machines. Aggregated cooperation conceals the numerous challenges of hybrid cooperation in which communication and coordination must be mastered in favour of joint decision-making. However, research into human-computer interaction can also be thought of differently than a mere aggregation of humans and machines. We want to propose a nature-inspired possibility that has been successfully practising the complex challenges of joint decision-making as proof of successful communication and coordination for millions of years. Collective intelligence and the processes of self-organisation offer biomimetic concepts that can be used to rethink socio-technical systems as a symbiosis in the form of a human-computer organism. For example, the effects of self-organisation such as emergence could be used to exceed the result of an aggregation of humans and machines as a future social anthropology 4.0 many times over. © 2024 the author(s), published by De Gruyter, Berlin/Boston.

As the Internet of Things (IoT) grows, ensuring robust security is crucial. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) protect IoT networks from various cyber threats. This systematic literature review (SLR) explores the advancements in training and deployment strategies of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based IDS within IoT environments. The study begins by outlining prevalent IoT attacks and developing an updated taxonomy to enhance understanding of these threats. It then examines various IDS architectures and delves into the integration of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) technologies that improve detection capabilities and system responsiveness. Significant emphasis is placed on analyzing different IDS training paradigms-centralized, distributed, and federated learning-and deployment strategies, including in cloud, fog, and edge layers. Their effectiveness within IoT contexts is evaluated comprehensively. Moreover, the review assesses the datasets commonly used for training and validating IDS and discusses key performance metrics and validation measures critical for assessing IDS effectiveness. The study concludes by synthesizing the major challenges facing current IDS implementations in IoT and suggesting future research directions aimed at overcoming these hurdles. This review highlights the technological advancements in IDS and sets the stage for future enhancements in IoT security, emphasizing the integration of innovative training and deployment strategies. © The Author(s) 2025.

LT-DBFT: A Hierarchical Blockchain Consensus Using Location and Trust in IoT

The exponential growth of IoT devices has led to the proposal of edge computing for data processing. The decentralized nature of edge computing servers and IoT devices makes blockchain ideal for connecting IoT users and servers. The consensus protocol, a core technology in blockchain, ensures node agreement and operational efficiency. However, as node numbers increase and spread geographically, traditional consensus protocols face deployment challenges, significantly reducing efficiency. To address this, we propose a hierarchical blockchain consensus protocol based on geographic location and a trust model called Location and Trust Delegated-BFT (LT-DBFT). This protocol reduces global communication delays caused by wide geographic distribution by assigning consensus nodes to different clusters based on their locations. A trust model is also designed to elect active nodes for consensus voting, thereby reducing the consensus overhead within clusters. Subsequently, the primary nodes of each cluster form a global shared layer to achieve the final ordering and execution of transactions. Through theoretical and experimental analysis, our scheme demonstrates lower latency and higher throughput performance than traditional PBFT and GeoBFT, making it more suitable for efficient deployment in large-scale and geographically widespread IoT environments. © 2014 IEEE.

Network function virtualisation (NFV) offers several benefits to both network operators and end users. It is a more programmable and low-cost solution as compared to a traditional network. Since the network functions are implemented in software, there is a great opportunity of extending a network according to the changing requirements of the customers. However, at the same time, there are many security threats since the same commodity hardware is shared among multiple virtualised network functions. In literature, various NFV security threats are reported. In this work, our aim is to consolidate them in a more structured and organised manners. We highlight the different building blocks of a NFV framework and then explore how a particular component may become the victim of an attacker. Finally, we summarise our lesson learned and present open research issues which might be useful for NFV practitioners and researchers. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
