Access point (AP) security has become increasingly important as wireless local area networks (WLANs) proliferate in industrial environments. Rogue APs are often used by attackers to conduct man-in-the-middle (MiTM) attacks. They can redirect users to malicious servers or do eavesdropping and manipulation of their *** this paper, we propose a novel one-class machine learning model to passively identify rogue APs in industrial environments. The implementation of the model is twofold. First, we passively extract the hardware and software characteristics of the evaluated AP according to its generated messages. This results in a comprehensive feature set that captures both low-level and high-level behaviors of the evaluated ***, we apply a one-class machine learning model to identify APs that significantly deviate from the previously known profile of legitimate APs. The combined evaluation of hardware and software behaviors integrated with an outlier detection scheme to effectively identify rogue APs is the insight of our proposal. We demonstrate the feasibility of our model, achieving an F1 score of 0.89 and a true positive rate of 0.9 in experiments conducted on our new publicly available dataset of 357 unique AP behaviors. © 2024 IEEE.

Over the past few years, several highly accurate Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been proposed for Android malware detection. Unfortunately, proposed schemes are rarely used in production, a situation usually caused by their limited generalization capabilities, leading to low accuracies when deployed. This paper proposes a new multi-view Android malware detection model, implemented in two stages. First, we extract multiple feature sets from an analyzed Android application package. The feature sets provide a complementary Android app behavioral vector for the classification task, enhancing the system's generalization. Secondly, we conduct a multi-objective optimization to select the optimal feature subset from each view for subsequent ensemble-based classification. Our proposal's insight is to proactively select each feature subset that simultaneously improves accuracy and reduces processing requirements in a multi-view setting. Experiments on our new dataset, comprising over 40 thousand Android app samples, demonstrated the feasibility of our proposal. Our scheme can improve true-positive rates by an average of 4.4 while demanding only up to 65% of inference processing costs. © 2024 IEEE.

The Cooperative Multi-Robot Observation of Multiple Moving Targets (CMOMMT) considers two types of robots, observers and targets, in a partially observable 2D environment, in which the task of the observers is to monitor the target robots under a limited radial range of the sensor, minimizing the total time the targets escape observation. The Cooperative Target Observation (CTO), a variant of the CMOMMT problem, considers the environment to be fully observable, where targets cooperate with observers by reporting their locations. These problems are at the center of many problems that occur in real-world wildlife research, crowd social movement, and surveillance situations. Regarding research related to the field of surveillance, this work proposes an approach to the extended CTO problem, what we call the COSTA problem: Cooperative Observation of Smart Target Agents. The approach employs genetic algorithm and recurrent deep neural networks to improve the performance of target robots and, therefore, to improve the research of new decision-making strategies in the context of observer robots. The first results were auspicious, as the average number of target evasion increased, considering the other recent approaches to the problem. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Open Information Extraction (Open IE) is a strategy for learning relations from texts, regardless the domain and without predefining these relations. Work in this area has focused mainly on verbal relations. In order to extend Open IE to extract relationships that are not expressed by verbs, we present a novel Open IE approach that extracts relations expressed in noun compounds (NCs), such as (oil, extracted from, olive) from "olive oil", or in adjective-noun pairs (ANs), such as (moon, that is, gorgeous) from "gorgeous moon". The approach consists of three steps: detection of NCs and ANs, interpretation of these compounds in view of corpus enrichment and extraction of relations from the enriched corpus. To confirm the feasibility of this method we created a prototype and evaluated the impact of the application of our proposal in two state-of-the-art Open IE extractors. Based on these tests we conclude that the proposed approach is an important step to fulfil the gap concerning the extraction of relations within the noun compounds and adjective-noun pairs in Open IE.

Palm vein pattern recognition offers a unique personal identification feature. Unfortunately, these techniques typically require a Near Infrared (NIR) camera sensor to extract the individual's venous pattern, challenging their wide deployment. This paper proposes a new feasible palm vein verification scheme using a Deep Autoencoder and a Siamese Network, implemented threefold. First, we capture the individual's palm using a traditional visible spectrum camera sensor and perform preprocessing tasks to correct imprecise positioning, easing palm support accessories requirements. Second, we eliminate NIR sensor requirement by fine-tuning a Deep Autoencoder model to convert images from the visible spectrum to their infrared counterparts. Third, generated images are processed by a lightweight Siamese network using a contrastive loss function for individual verification. Experiments conducted on a publicly available dataset with over a hundred individuals confirmed the feasibility of our proposal. Our scheme reaches up to 0.97 of true-negative rate, with only 0.01 decrease compared to traditional NIR-based approaches. In addition, individual identification can be conducted in less than 6 seconds in a resource-constrained environment thanks to our lightweight model's implementation. © 2024 IEEE.

The design of enzymes with complex active sites that mediate multistep reactions remains an outstanding challenge. With serine hydrolases as a model system, we combined the generative capabilities of RFdiffusion with an ensemble generation method for assessing active site preorganization at each step in the reaction to design enzymes starting from minimal active site descriptions. Experimental characterization revealed catalytic efficiencies (kcat/Km) up to 2.2 × 105 M-1 s-1 and crystal structures that closely match the design models (Cα root mean square deviations <1 angstrom). Selection for structural compatibility across the reaction coordinate enabled identification of new catalysts remove with five different folds distinct from those of natural serine hydrolases. Our de novo approach provides insight into the geometric basis of catalysis and a roadmap for designing enzymes that catalyze multistep transformations.

Post-pandemic and globalization have accelerated the implementation of Industry 4.0, aided by rapid technological and information advancements. Industry 4.0 has significant consequences for all institutions in developing ICT infrastructure, one of which is educational institutions. Despite the enthusiasm in all educational institutions for using ICT to improve teaching and learning, particularly in universities, integrating technology is becoming problematic. Integrating ICT infrastructure in universities is a multidimensional process involving technology and curriculum, pedagogy, institutional readiness, lecturer competence, and long-term financial planning. Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) is happening because the heart stops pumping the blood to the brain, lungs, et cetera, which will cause death within an hour. With this high risk and low survivability rate, real-time Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring systems have become a solution to tackle this problem. The system needs to be accessible at any time and condition by multiple users who bring up the needs of the availability and scalability of the system. Some research had been conducted on IoT monitoring system but still the result of availability and scalability not acceptable for a real-life scenario. The purpose of this research is to propose an architecture for a real-time IoT monitoring system for sudden cardiac death by using Kubernetes as the container orchestration and ProtocolBuffers as the Binary Serialization. The result shows us applying Kubernetes and ProtocolBuffers gives a good result with 100% successfully stored data and 50.5s end-to-end Execution time for 50000 requests which reflect a high availability and fast system. © 2021 IEEE.

In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company's business goals. Banking companies include companies that use information technology such as Mobile Banking in their services. Mobile banking is a banking facility or service using mobile communication tools such as mobile phones, with the provision of facilities for banking transactions through mobile applications. Even though they have used a good SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), there are still many obstacles that occur, especially system problems and human errors. This can result in a high risk if it occurs continuously and will be fatal to the company's business processes. Therefore, COBIT 5 can be used as a benchmark for the IT assessment process on local bank mobile banking services. The purpose of the study is to determine the level of capability and strategy for improving risk management. The method used in this study is to focus on IT risk management with the COBIT 5 framework in the Evaluate Direct Monitoring (EDM) 3 domain, Align Plain Organize (APO) 12. From the results of the analysis, the calculation of the capability level is at Level 1 Performed Process with a score of 82.04%, thus the status has evidence as well as a systematic approach and this achievement is obtained significantly through the assessment of process attributes. © 2022 IEEE.
