Exploring Preschool Teachers’ Conceptions of Teaching and Learning, and Their Self-efficacy of Classroom Management and Pedagogical Content Knowledge

This study aimed to understand the relationship among conceptions of teaching and learning (COLT), classroom management self-efficacy (CMSE), and pedagogical content knowledge self-efficacy (PCKSE). A total of 485 in-service Taiwanese preschool teachers participating in this study completed three questionnaires, viz. the Conceptions of Teaching and Learning, the Classroom Management Self-efficacy, and the Pedagogical Content Knowledge Self-efficacy. The research findings indicated that, while teachers regarded conceptions of teaching and learning from a constructivist perspective, they tended to possess higher classroom management self-efficacy and in turn expressed higher PCK self-efficacy. On the contrary, teachers with traditional conceptions of teaching and learning tended to have lower classroom management self-efficacy and accordingly displayed lower PCK self-efficacy. According to the research findings, the present study encouraged teachers to develop constructivist COTL in order to foster better management and PCK. Besides, it is suggested that future studies explore other factors affecting teachers’ self-efficacy. © 2022, De La Salle University.

In this decade, social media has become more frequently used because it is easy to see some news on the social media for example Instagram, Facebook, and other social media. However, the problem that often arises in social media problems is the accuracy of the news. There are many fake news circulating on social media. This paper aims to classify the fake news using random forest. This research uses data Kaggle “Fake News Dataset Combined Different Sources”. The accuracy of the Fake News Classifier using this model is is 0.9403, the Classification Report on this model is True Recall Score: 0.88 and the Fake Recall score is 0.98 while the Precision Score is 0.96 and 0.93 for each true and fake result, F1-Score is 0.92 and 0.95. Air pollution makes it worse in populated regions. Indonesia's major cities are also impacted by air pollution. Due to rising traffic, material consumption by vehicles, industrial growth, land burning, and garbage collection, air quality has altered significantly. Accurate measurement and classification of air quality are required. Results of accurate classification aid in forming governmental regulations. To reach the criteria for livable air quality, we intend to manage controls. Some of the characteristics of air pollution include particulate (PM10) or PM25, sulfides (in the form of SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and nitrites (NO2). Using the XGBoost algorithm and synthetic minority oversampling (SMOTE) methods based on the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) category, this study seeks to uncover factors that affect air quality. XGBoost, an ensemble machine learning approach built on a decision tree and applying a gradient reinforcement framework, is the classification algorithm in use. Air quality categorization has been tested and shown to work with the XGBoost algorithm. The dataset used in this study is air quality in 2021 which was collected by the Jakarta Environmental Ministry The proposed classification model will be evaluated using the Repeated k-fold cross-validation method for objective results. The results of the study prove that SMOTE and XGBoost have better performance than using only the XGBoost method in predicting air quality, where the overall accuracy value of SMOTE with XGBoost is 99.60%, The overall precision value is 99.60%, the overall recall value is 99.60% and the overall f1-score is 99.60% and the overall ROC AUC value is 99.96%. The overall SMOTE method with the proposed XGBoost has given better performance in air pollution prediction. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper focuses on a performance enhancement of communication performance by compressing data stream. ASE coding is an effective lossless data compression method for data stream. The software implementation of the coding/decoding method inevitably meets a performance mismatch in memory and storage devices. In the compressor side, it is predictable to decide the size of an original data block and is available to process a flexible buffer memory. However, the decompressor is not able to predict the buffer size because the original data size is not obvious before the decompression. This causes a performance mismatch in the filesystem level. This paper proposes a novel method to address the performance mismatch by applying a notification mechanism of compression size from the compressor. This paper describes the mechanism focusing on the system call usage. Through experimental evaluations, we show the performance improvement of the decompression performance for handling data stream.

Currently, online project-based learning is one of the methodologies used in university student assessment. Furthermore, this study is supported by several factors and current conditions applied to learning, such as the pandemic situation where all learning activities and assignments are carried out online and also the many applications of online project-based learning as a learning method to increase students' knowledges and abilities. The purpose of this study is to see how flow experience perception, self-efficacy, product evaluation, and learning motivation affect online PjBL effectiveness at a private university in Jakarta to improve sustain ability education. We surveyed 62 active undergraduate students with online PjBL experience and interviewed one of these five responders from various majors for more information. Flow experience perception, self-efficacy, product evaluation, and learning motivation all have a positive influence on online PjBL, according to multiple linier regression. © 2022 IEEE.

IoT edge platform has become popular in various distributed environments. The edge devices need to communicate BigData among them or with the cloud servers by collaborating with AI technologies for finding events from the applications. Those devices exchange data streams from such as distributed sensors and remote image/video devices. We focus on an acceleration technique for the communication performance using a stream-based lossless data compression technology. This paper proposes a parallelization technique for the compression process in a software environment running on a multicore processor. The technique invokes concurrent compression processes assigned to multiple threads with splitting a data stream to chunks. The paper exposes three scheduling methods for assigning the chunks to the threads: in-order, hybrid and out-of-order. As an original data order of chunks must be obtained in decompression side, the proposed technique introduces packeting mechanisms in each chunk by adding headers to support the scheduling methods. Through experimental performance evaluations, we discuss the packeting overhead focusing on compression ratio and speedup by the parallelization with three scheduling methods.

In this paper, we introduce the Enhanced Smart Exponential-Threshold-Linear (Enhanced-SETL) algorithm, a new approach that uses the multi-variable Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) framework to simultaneously optimize multiple settings of the Contention Window (CW) in IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Unlike traditional DRL methods that adjust only a single CW parameter, our innovative approach simultaneously optimizes both the CW minimum (CWmin) and CW Threshold (CWThreshold), significantly improving network traffic control. We utilize a Double Deep Q-learning Network (DDQN) for dynamic updates of these CW settings, broadcasted across the dense Wi-Fi networks. This dual adjustment method, coupled with dynamic, data-driven updates, not only enhances throughput, but also reduces collision rates, and ensures fairness access across both static and dynamic wireless environments. Enhanced-SETL achieves a throughput improvement ranging from 3.55% up to 43.73% and from 3.98% up to 30.15% in static and dynamic scenarios over standard protocols and state-of-the-art DRL models, while maintaining a fairness index near 99% across diverse stations, showcasing its effectiveness and adaptability in various network conditions. © 2024

Precise predictions of indoor climate conditions are required in the implementation of Smart Solar Dryer Dome (SDD). Trend development of prediction models is discussed in this review from 15 selected research papers (2018–2022) on indoor climate prediction which was obtained from research paper databases The output shows that the most used model for predicting indoor climate is Artificial Neural Network (ANN), especially Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) such as LSTM and GRU. However, there are some potential methods such as Transformer, Combined Support Vector Machines (SVM)-Deep Learning, and sequence-to-sequence which could outperform other commonly used models. Based on findings various opportunities exist to improve the precision of indoor climate prediction, which can bring power consumption efficiency and others benefit to Smart SDD users. Such studies may further be explored to produce more accurate machine learning models.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of diabetes mellitus that attacks the retina of the eye. DR will cause patients to experience blindness slowly. Generally, DR can be detected by using a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to view the inside of the eyeball. However, in conditions where there is a very small difference between the normal image and the DR image, computer-based assistance is needed for maximizing image reading value. In this research, a method of image quality improvement will be carried out which will then be integrated with a classification algorithm based on deep learning. The results of image improvement using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) shows that the average accuracy of the method on several models is very competitive, 91% for the VGG16 model, 95% for InceptionV3, and 97% for EfficientNet compared to the results original image which only has an accuracy of 87% for VGG16 model, 90% for InceptionV3 model, and 95% for EfficientNet. However, in ResNet34 better accuracy is obtained in the original image with an accuracy of 95% while in the CLAHE image the accuracy value is only 84%. The results of this comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of famous backbone networks can be useful in the computer-Aided diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. E-Government and Tourism are fields of research that are constantly evolving. Where tourism services are one of the major foreign exchange earners for most countries. Governments in various countries are trying their best in providing services by utilizing information technology. The purpose of this research is to find out and map the scientific publications that have been carried out on the topics of e-government and tourism indexed by Scopus scientific publications, published from 2000 to 2020. So that research trends in this field can be seen and provide insights for further research. This research uses the bibliometric analysis method. Results showed that the most cited research topic was the recommendation system topic with 639 citations, the country that contributed the most documents was China and the most affiliated contributors were Georgia College State universities and Sydney University of Technology with each producing four articles. This study also contributes to knowledge by proposing classification characteristics of egovernment and tourism with the theme: Websites, Applications, Services, and Electronics. This characteristic abbreviated as WASE. © 2021 IEEE.
