Network security is a crucial component of Information Technology, yet organizations continue to grapple with meeting established security benchmarks. Given the rise in cyber-attacks and the continuous emergence of new attack types, it's practically infeasible to persistently update attack patterns or signatures within security parameters. Key tools such as Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) are instrumental in monitoring network traffic and identifying potential threats. However, these tools face limitations, such as the high volume of alerts produced by IDS and the use of rule-based method, also the inability of SIEM tools to analyze logs comprehensively to identify inappropriate activities. This research has conducted anomaly detection using machine learning process to classify cyber-attacks network flow collected from IDS that installed incident network infrastructure. The analysis of IDS using machine learning, integrated with SIEM. The algorithm used in this research was Random Forest Classifier using CSE-CID-IDS2018 dataset pre-processed with Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Results of the experiments show that Random Forest Classifier Model, when combined with Principal Component Analysis (PCA), yields the most commendable results when applied to a 70/30 training/testing data ratio with accuracy of 0.99953. © 2023 IEEE.

Making decisions requires different information, especially when it is crucial. The traditional Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a great algorithm that will help make these decisions more quickly because it organizes the choices in a hierarchy. However, this algorithm has trouble with big datasets and changing decision settings because they depend on pairwise comparisons and subjective judgments when making decisions. Additionally, fuzzy and stochastic AHP algorithms were developed to improve the traditional ones. However, these algorithms are complex to use on a large scale and require many computers. This study presents a novel algorithm (Top-TC AHP) that integrates Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Top-K algorithms into the traditional AHP to help people make decisions faster and better. It uses SVM to sort data and get the probabilities of the criteria for the alternatives and Top-K to choose the top options. Time complexity, consistency ratio, and throughput were the metrics used to gauge the performance of the novel algorithm. As a result, when comparing Top-TC AHP to other ways, it gets better consistency, makes computing more manageable, and speeds things up. Because of this, it is beneficial for dealing with large amounts of data and situations that change quickly. In addition, the Top-TC AHP algorithm can help people make smart decisions in many areas, such as business and school planning. ©2024 IEEE.

Improving graph-based recommendation with unraveled graph learning

Graph Collaborative Filtering (GraphCF) has emerged as a promising approach in recommendation systems, leveraging the inferential power of Graph Neural Networks. Furthermore, the integration of contrastive learning has enhanced the performance of GraphCF methods. Recent research has shifted from graph augmentation to noise perturbation in contrastive learning, leading to significant performance improvements. However, we contend that the primary factor in performance enhancement is not graph augmentation or noise perturbation, but rather the balance of the embedding from each layer in the output embedding. To substantiate our claim, we conducted preliminary experiments with multiple state-of-the-art GraphCF methods. Based on our observations and insights, we propose a novel approach named Unraveled Graph Contrastive Learning (UGCL), which includes a new propagation scheme to further enhance performance. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first approach that specifically addresses the balance factor in the output embedding for performance improvement. We have carried out extensive experiments on multiple large-scale benchmark datasets to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed approach. The results indicate that UGCL significantly outperforms all other state-of-the-art baseline models, also showing superior performance in terms of fairness and debiasing capabilities compared to other baselines. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this research, the author addresses the prevalent issues faced by users of cloud services, especially those using Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology, such as connection losses, security concerns, and poor video quality. The study does not delve into the complex problems at the data center level but instead proposes a novel Design science Research approach. This new method, tested with five clients in varied locations, utilizes port forwarding to establish a direct server-client connection, bypassing traditional P2P frameworks. The results show that this approach significantly improves quality over the P2P system. Feedback from clients before and after the experiment indicates a positive response to this new method. This research offers insights into overcoming P2P-related issues in cloud services and contributes to the development of cloud-based server science, presenting a cost-effective, independent alternative to data center-dependent P2P services, with plans for ongoing research in this area. © 2023 IEEE.

Currently, online Shopping platforms have grown significantly, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This condition motivates the need for analyzing how the users/customers' opinions on using such platform. Sentiment analysis, as a process of detecting, extracting, and classifying users' opinions and attitudes toward specific topics, is a good tool for the required analysis. This study aims to evaluate the performance of machine learning approach which combined with N-Gram technique in doing sentiment analysis. The dataset used in this study comes from scraping reviews in Bahasa Indonesia regarding the Shopee Apps. In this study, N=2 for the N-Gram was employed in the preprocessing process. Our main goal is to investigate whether the performance of machine learning in doing sentiment analysis can be improved by adding the N-Gram technique in its preprocessing. This work applied the Naive Bayes Classifier and k-Nearest Neighbor with K=11 as the machine learning algorithms. The best accuracy in this study was achieved by Naive Bayes Classifier after applying N-Gram Terms (N=2) with Split Validation (8:2), which is 97.26%. © 2023 IEEE.

Dependency Injection (DI) is a widely adopted design pattern in the software industry. DI reduces the otherwise necessary coupling between a client and the concrete object providing the service. This decoupling is achieved by delegating the responsibility of object creation to an external DI module, commonly referred to as a DI Container. Nevertheless, DI can introduce certain side effects. To guide the external DI module on the wiring logic, developers must either detail these logics in configuration files or use language constructs specific to the DI implementation in use. In large-scale projects, managing these wiring logics can pose a significant challenge to software maintainability. Currently, the Spring Framework stands as one of the most prominent DI implementations. It provides three methods for describing the wiring logic: XML, Annotation, and Java Class. This paper delves into the effects of these three methods on software maintainability, their influence on software design, and the optimal circumstances for each method's use in managing wiring logic. Our study examines the issues aforementioned using the well-known web application benchmark, JPetStore. We adapt the benchmark application's source code through different wiring logic implementations and evaluate the resultant effects on software coupling metrics. Finally, we explore the implications of these modifications on software coupling and maintainability. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider multi-view video and audio streaming using MPEG-DASH, which enables to transmit video tailored to the network conditions over HTTP communication. This paper uses HTTP/2 instead of HTTP/1.1, which the authors previously used. HTTP/2 manages a series of request-response exchanges called a stream, which is assigned a unique stream ID. We perform a subjective experiment under various network conditions to evaluate application-level QoS and QoE. From the evaluation results, we investigate the effect of the HTTP/2 stream on the video and audio quality of the users in the multi-view video transmission scenario. © 2024 IEEE.

Effective recommendation systems are essential for supporting decision-making in various fields in this age of abundant information. This paper presents a novel framework for a Modified Recommender Algorithm that combines Top-K and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Traditional decision-making frameworks such as AHP are susceptible to subjectivity and inconsistencies, necessitating innovative approaches to improve their reliability and effectiveness. The objective is to improve recommendation systems' efficacy and precision by integrating sophisticated machine-learning techniques with resilient decision-making approaches. The proposed framework establishes the hierarchical structure of decision elements and prioritizes alternatives according to user preferences by utilizing AHP, a potent multi-criteria decision-making tool. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is then used as a text classification model to enrich the feature space for recommendations by classifying textual data into pertinent classes. In addition, the framework applies Top-K Algorithms to select the most pertinent alternatives based on SVM classification output, thereby refining the recommendation results. Top-K Algorithms improve overall recommendation accuracy and relevance by iteratively filtering and ranking alternatives. This research advances the field of data science by providing a thorough framework that combines innovative machine learning techniques with conventional decision-making methodologies to address the challenges of recommendation systems in complex and dynamic environments. ©2024 IEEE.

Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology supporting bidirectional power transfer allows electric vehicles (EVs) to contribute and consume energy bidirectionally. Because the specific properties and requirements of V2G, Khan et al. proposed a key agreement scheme for the V2G system to ensure the security of communication between a vehicle user and the grid server. However, after analyzing Khan et al.’s scheme, we find that it suffers from some flaws such that it cannot ensure anonymity, resist impersonation attack, man-in-the-middle attack and denial-of-service attack, and work as expected. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The economy is one of the determinants of how a person can live their life. In this current economic situation, inflation occurs everywhere, causing the prices of necessities to rise. In order to have a decent life, people must find a job with the highest possible salary to fulfill their needs. Various job industries have their salary range. Obtaining the information of salary level for the respective job is helpful for employers and employees to estimate the expected salary. This work aims to classify the salary level of jobs available in Indonesia and determine whether those salaries are decent enough. The learning methods are logistic regression, decision tree, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine, voting classifier, bagging classifier, random forest, and boosting classifier. Random Forest achieved the best result with an accuracy rate of 72%. Based on the analysis result, factors such as job field, educational background, working experience, working hours, and job location influence salary. © 2023 IEEE.
