Appearance-based object recognition can be used in various applications such as human-computer interface and information retrieval. Therefore, many researchers compete with others to present their best in object recognition. Since object recognition has been studied for a long time and encompassed diverse approaches, therefore a review of the latest works is needed. This paper aims to deliver the trends in object recognition researches focusing on instance recognition and foreground detection such as salient object detection and object detection as supporting methods. Covering 34 publications, we survey the approaches, methods, datasets, performance measure, and experimental results. We also present research challenges in object recognition which can be used as suggestions for future works. We hope that our work can provide an overview of the current trends for object recognition and foreground detection methods.

The purpose of this research is to create a simulator application in calculating farmer's income from the sale of fresh fruit bunches. Farmers can easily find out the outcomes based on how many kilograms of crops are sold through this application. This research was conducted in Mesuji Regency, Lampung Province, using primary data and descriptive analysis. The sampling technique utilized a proportional random sampling method and consisted of 88 oil palm farmers. The results indicated that the application made it simpler for farmers to find out their income. Farmers only needed to input the land area, the harvest number obtained on the harvest day that had been carried out, and the price of fresh fruit bunches so that they would know the estimated monthly and annual income calculations. These calculations can be used by farmers as a predicting and planning tool to avoid losses.

There are significant studies that have quantified oil palm water footprint as an indicator of environmental sustainability but an estimation of water footprint under varying soil types furthermore is still limited. The objectives of the study were to estimate whether annual variations of soil type and yields significantly effects for the oil palm water footprint. The data from three types of soil (spodosol, inceptisol, ultisol) were collected from an oil palm plantation in Pundu village, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. To perform the water footprint analysis we utilize water balance accounting equations via application Cropwat 8.0. From that, we determine the crop irrigation scheduling to compute the blue, green, and grey water footprint of oil palm fresh fruit bunch in the area. Our analysis found that the actual evapotranspiration of spodosol and inceptisol have the same value: 1242 mm/year whilst ultisol is 1239 mm/year. The total water footprint of oil palm varied considerably with the largest value being 1310.04 m3/ton for ultisol. The actual evapotranspiration of spodosol and inceptisol have the same value of 1242 mm/year whilst ultisol is 1239 mm/year. The higher production resulted in a lower water footprint and vice versa. Moreover, the total water footprint from ultisol soil type has the highest value due to the lowest yields. The difference in evapotranspiration value resulted in the insignificant value of total water footprint. The lower water availability, the lower water use, and the higher actual irrigation requirement in oil palm plantation yet showed the unnotable impact on water footprint in different soil types for the oil palm plantation.

With the sudden attack of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), some 300 million children in the world have been forced to study at home because of the mass closure of schools that began on March 18, 2020. This has caused many obstacles in the teaching and learning process. Every effort is made to minimize the COVID-19 pandemic while ensuring the teaching and learning process is not interrupted. If the school closures too long and the child is trapped inside the house this will have a negative impact on the physical and mental health of the children. This situation makes parents become worried and look for alternative education in addition to formal schooling for their children. Of the various types of education offers that exist homeschooling or commonly known as home-based learning provides a way out for the current situation. Now children are quarantined in their homes and they will return to school once this epidemic fades. But with this disaster, parents' views on homeschooling or home-based learning can be different from before. They may still be marked if home-based learning can be a long-term education. With the existence of COVID-19, most parents might finally realize that education without formal schooling is not a crisis but an opportunity to take their children to a better future. This research was conducted by utilizing a descriptive qualitative method and within the descriptive qualitative method, the concept of document analysis would be utilized the most. It was expected that the results of this research would explore what type of technology parents could prepare for their children to use to initiate home-based learning.

In this paper, we propose the use of Feature Pyramid Networks (FPN) for Crowd Counting problem. FPN previously has been used for retinanet, the state-of-the-art model for object detection. By using FPN, our proposed crowd counting model achieved a state-of-the-art performance for UCF CC 50 dataset with MAE 136.4 and MSE 223.6. The proposed model is also achieved a state-of-the-art MSE value of 7.6 for ShanghaiTech Part B dataset. The code can be accessed at https: //***/wawancenggoro/fpncc.

The mathematical understanding ability is one of the abilities that must be mastered by students in mathematics learning. One of the actions that can be taken to improve the mathematical understanding ability is to use Learning Cycle 7E Model. The 7E stands for Elicit, Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate, and Extend. This research was to examine whether the students’ mathematical understanding ability who learned using Learning Cycle 7E Model was better than those who learned using conventional learning. The research method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design, the detail was a non-equivalent post-test only group design. The population of this research was students in 7th grade, which consisted of 7A, 7B, and 7C in SMP PGRI 400 Tangerang, Indonesia. The selected samples were 7A and 7B by cluster random sampling. This research was used a test instrument with essay form about mathematical understanding ability in Algebraic Count Operations. The data analysis used was an independent sample t-test, the result showed that the t-calculated value (7.093) is greater than the t-table value (1.665) at an alpha of 0.05. Based on this result, it can be concluded that the students’ mathematical understanding ability who learned using Learning Cycle 7E Model was better than those who learned using conventional learning.

Visual thinking in the picture not only stimulates creativity but also enriches higher order thinking skill processes. It indicates that there is a connection between visual-spatial and logical-mathematical intelligence. The purpose of this study is to find out is there a linear connection between visual-spatial intelligence and logical-mathematical intelligence. The research method is correlational with two variables, namely visual-spatial intelligence as a predictor variable (X) and logical-mathematical intelligence as a response variable (Y). The population in this study were students of class XI science in SMA Negeri 17 Tangerang Regency with a sample of 112 students. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. The data is obtained from tests which measure about visual-spatial and logical-mathematical intelligence. The data analysis technique is comparative analysis. The coefficient value obtained r=0.441. From these results, it can be concluded that, there is a positive linear connection between visual-spatial intelligence with logistical-mathematical intelligence in the medium category.
