Determining water potability is both challenging and vital. The quality of the consumed drinking water has a profound impact on human health and well-being. Classifying the potability of a drinking water is extremely complex due to the extensive range of indicators. This research aims to determine the most suitable method for classifying water potability by comparing five classification algorithms: SVC, Random Forest, XGBoost, KNN, and ADABoost. The dataset employed in this study was obtained from Kaggle, which consists of 10 attributes, encompassing 9 water quality indicators and 1 water potability label. The results clearly point out that SVC, utilizing default parameters, achieved the highest precision value of 69.66%. This demonstrates a notable difference of 13.66% compared to ADABoost, which produces the lowest precision value. In order to improve the classification accuracy, hyperparameter tuning was conducted using RandomizedSearch for attributes of both SVC and ADABoost. The precision value of SVC increased to 77.32%, while ADABoost achieved a precision value of 64.52%. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the tuned SVC model is the best choice for water potability classification, while ADABoost is less suitable for this study due to its low precision value. © 2023 IEEE.

Education plays a crucial role in the development of a nation, and for its successful implementation, quality reading resources, such as books, magazines, journals, dictionaries, and other reading materials, are required to facilitate the teaching and learning process. A library serves as a hub for educational institutions that house diverse collections of books, periodicals, and documents. However, the conventional manual library management system utilized by some private schools in Jakarta City has limitations, such as time-consuming processes for searching, borrowing, returning books, and generating reports. This study proposes the implementation of a web-based library management system employing cutting-edge technology to address these issues. This paper's primary objective is to design a web-based library management system that enables efficient book borrowing and return. To achieve this objective, the study employs a use-case diagram, an entity-relationship diagram, and library web design. A questionnaire survey is used to collect data, which is appropriate for the research context and offers a cost-effective, efficient, and quick method for collecting data from a large sample size. Designing the library web, creating a questionnaire, distributing it to testers, and analyzing their responses comprise the research methodology. © 2023 IEEE.

Elevator time efficiency is a crucial factor in determining the workflow of a building. Good elevator dispatching and traffic management systems will provide minimum travel and waiting times, and an overall better user experience. One of the issues hindering the efficiency of elevators especially in high-rise buildings is the often occurring phantom floor calls. Phantom floor call is a condition where an elevator car stops at an empty floor with no passengers waiting to go in or out of the elevator. This paper proposes a method to minimize the occurrence of phantom floor calls by integrating HOG+SVM human detection algorithm in surveillance cameras placed in elevator hallways. The algorithm would assist elevators in skipping floor calls based on the detected human presence from the floor's surveillance camera image. The experiment was conducted by running two elevator simulations simultaneously, one with integrated human detection, and one without. Our method considerably reduced phantom floor calls and our findings indicated that overall elevator stops were reduced by an average of 63.66%, resulting in a more time-efficient elevator system. We also found that our method scaled well with varied building heights and floor number counts. © 2023 IEEE.

Online chess has opened up a way for players to sharpen their skills through move analytics. Based on this feature, a support system called chess advisor can be utilized to assist players in a real-time match. However such system doesn't exist within the website itself, rather an involvement of 3rd party software is required. These kinds of software usually need assistance for input. This paper aims to create a system that is able to recognize chessboard state in real-time. We have proposed a chess piece image recognition system using transfer learning using ResNet50, a simple neural network, and a convolutional neural network (CNN). We collected our own 693 2D chess piece images dataset and performed data preprocessing to standardize the image dimensions. The proposed system detects and converts individual positions of each piece into a computer-readable output. This output can be used to facilitate the chess advisor in determining the best move. The transfer learning approach utilizing the ResNet50 model exhibited superior performance with an accuracy of 95.65%. This outperformed alternative methods such as the simple neural network and the CNN. The ResNet50 model's advantage stemmed from its pre-training on the ImageNet dataset, enabling effective pattern generalization. In contrast, the simple neural network and CNN achieved lower accuracies of 73.4% and 85%. These models encountered difficulties due to limited dataset quantity and quality, as well as the absence of regularization techniques. Nevertheless, the CNN displayed better consistency in generalizing patterns compared to the simple neural network. © 2023 IEEE.

This study investigates the implementation of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in elementary school education to enhance students' learning experience about the Solar System. The study adheres to the ADDIE instructional design model, which involves five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. A specific Android-based AR application, named SolAR System, is developed, enabling students to interact with 3D objects and gain knowledge about the planets through an immersive approach. The study incorporates a needs analysis and performance analysis, employing observation methods to gather relevant data. Evaluations are conducted to assess the application's validity, practicality, and effectiveness, employing measures such as pre-tests and post-tests. An experimental study involving 30 primary school students is conducted, demonstrating a notable improvement in their understanding of the Solar System, thereby indicating the effectiveness of AR as an educational tool. However, challenges pertaining to device accessibility and school policies concerning smartphone usage are identified during the implementation phase. In conclusion, this research affirms that AR can significantly enhance students' learning experience regarding the Solar System and recommends future development of AR applications for other mobile operating systems, such as IOS. © 2023 IEEE.

Reinforcement learning has been implemented to model a task by doing the task repeatedly to get the maximum results based on the reward and punishment policy. It has been implemented in the game and agent-based modelling. In the game, the game agent or Non-Players character can be modelled using several techniques to achieve the goal (e.g. reinforcement learning, deep neural network and Monte Carlo Tree Search). Deep neural networks and Monte Carlo Tree Search, two more sophisticated techniques in reinforcement learning algorithms, assisted the present reinforcement learning in resolving more challenging issues. However, this area has two challenges: the minimum number of data to model and generalization to different environments. Determining a minimum number of data required by the architecture to train the model is quite a cumbersome task to be applied to real-world jobs and situations since it demands substantial data to be explicitly provided and trial-and-error re-configuration. This work proposes a Data-Efficient Reinforcement Learning model by augmenting the data and implementing episodic memory. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model, this research compares it to several models, such as the Deep Q-Network (DQN) with episodic memory to the same model with data augmentation and episodic memory. The model adds to the observations before being stored in the agent's memory, causing the agent to use the same logic and take the same action in comparable situations. The outcome demonstrates that the augmented model can surpass the fundamental model in speed (with an improvement of 50% quicker). © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

This research focuses on analyzing sentiment to- wards skincare products in the Indonesian language, employing the IndoBERT approach and LSTM classification. The study aims to provide consumers with accurate information before purchasing skincare products and assist companies in improving product quality based on customer feedback. The method entails feature extraction with IndoBERT and classification using LSTM. The evaluation demonstrates excellent performance, with accu- racy reaching a value of 92.6%, indicating the effectiveness of the IndoBERT and LSTM approaches in sentiment classification for Indonesian skincare product reviews. These results lay a strong foundation for further development in sentiment analysis and contribute to the advancement of natural language processing technology in the context of skincare products in the Indonesian language. © 2023 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that connects devices to the internet and communicates with internet connection. Many things could be applied to IoT Technology, and the smart room is one of its implementations. Sleeping is the most effective way to rest and regain energy after a day of activity, and smart room can be applied to bedroom to control factors that could affect sleep quality. IoT technology could help to regulate the room so that the factors could be set to an ideal value and help to improve sleep quality. The author uses Arduino Uno microcontroller and NodeMCU ESP8266 to communicate and send data to *** and Blynk. This system reads temperature, humidity, air quality, and light intensity. The sensors used in this research are DHT22 for temperature and humidity, MQ-2 and MQ-135 for air quality, and LDR Photoresistor for light intensity. IoT System is automated to regulate room conditions and meet user needs. This study aims to help the sleep process for people who have difficulty sleeping with the help of IoT devices. The result gives a desirable impact of using IoT, like a user can enhance sleep from 490 minutes to 520 minutes. Therefore, this study has succeeded in increasing sleep duration by as much as 30 minutes by utilizing IoT as a medium for regulating sleep comfort. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart retail has been increasing in interest due to societal shifts along with technological advancements. The fast-paced integration of artificial intelligence (AI) brings the opportunity to develop potential technology in the scope of daily activities. Smart retail implements a field of artificial intelligence that involves computer vision to detect and recognize products. This paper aims to analyze the performance of YOLOv8 for brand recognition on grocery products. However, the inter-class similarities problems are present among certain grocery products included in the dataset to further represent real-life conditions of smart retail. Firstly, an adequate dataset is internally developed with common grocery products from 20 classes that represent brands. In the dataset developed, 3095 images were used and split into training, validation, and testing in 70%, 20%, and 10%, respectively. Then, an experiment is conducted with the YOLOv8 model where the performance result showed by precision, recall, mean average precision (mAP), and confusion matrix. Results of the experiment show that the YOLOv8 model gives a mAP50 value of 0.96303. This result indicates that the YOLOv8 model's performance for object recognition opened new insights into its potential in supporting the automatic checkout process in smart retail. © 2023 IEEE.

Short Message Services (SMS) has been most people's habits. The numbers of SMS usage have been growing rapidly since text messages are more effective than emails. However, there is a problem that people often encounter while using SMS which is spam. Many researchers have discussed what are the best methods to avoid spam, especially in SMS. They attempt to avoid spam by making an SMS filtering machine using various algorithms. In this study, we're aiming to compare the accuracy percentage of SMS spam detection using various machine learning algorithms, such as Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine (SVM), Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM), and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). These algorithms have been implemented and tested over a dataset consisting of 5.574 records. This testing gave specific results of mean, which are 96.95% by using the Naive Bayes Algorithm, followed by 97.93% by using Support Vector Machine, 98.57 by Convolutional Neural Network, and 99.1% by Long-Short Term Memory leads in this testing. © 2023 IEEE.
