Thermal energy dependent transient permittivity of epsilon-near-zero material

Transparent conductive oxides exhibit attractive optical nonlinearity with ultrafast response and giant refractive index change near the epsilon-near-zero(ENZ) wavelength, originating from the intraband dynamics of conduction electrons. The optical nonlinearity of ENZ materials has been explained by using the overall-effective-mass and the overall-scattering-time of electrons in the extended Drude model. However, their response to optical excitation is yet the last building block to complete the theory. In this paper, the concept of thermal energy is theoretically proposed to account for the total energy of conduction electrons exceeding their thermal equilibrium value. The time-varying thermal energy is adopted to describe the transient optical response of indium-tin-oxide(ITO), a typical ENZ material. A spectrally-resolved femtosecond pump-probe experiment was conducted to verify our theory. By correlating the thermal energy with the pumping density, both the giant change and the transient response of the permittivity of ITO can be predicted. The results in this work provide a new methodology to describe the transient permittivities of ENZ materials, which will benefit the design of ENZ-based nonlinear photonic devices.

The experimental realization of quantum information systems will be difficult due to how sensitive quantum information is to noise. Overcoming this sensitivity is central to designing quantum networks capable of transmitting quantum information reliably over large distances. Moreover, the ability to characterize communication noise in quantum networks is crucial in developing network protocols capable of overcoming the effects of noise in quantum networks. In this context, quantum network tomography refers to the characterization of channel noise in a quantum network through end-to-end measurements. In this work, we propose network tomography protocols for quantum star networks formed by quantum channels characterized by a single, non-trivial Pauli operator. Our results further the end-to-end characterization of quantum bit-flip star networks by introducing tomography protocols where state distribution and measurements are designed separately. We build upon previously defined quantum network tomography protocols, as well as provide novel methods for the unique characterization of bit-flip probabilities in stars. We introduce a theoretical benchmark based on the Quantum Fisher information matrix to compare the efficiency of quantum network protocols. We apply our techniques to the protocols proposed, and perform an initial analysis on the potential benefits of entanglement for Quantum Network Tomography. Furthermore, we simulate the protocols using N etSquid to assess the convergence properties of the estimators obtained for particular parameter regimes. Our findings show that the efficiency of protocols depend on parameter values and motivate the search for adaptive quantum network tomography protocols.

Cobalt titanate, CoTiO3, is a honeycomb antiferromagnet recently confirmed experimentally to host Dirac magnons, topological spin-orbit excitons, and chiral phonons. Here, we investigate a magnon gap at the zone center which calls for a refined spin Hamiltonian. We propose a microscopic model for the magnon gap and attribute it to a lattice-distortion (phonon)-induced higher-order spin interaction. Strong magnetoelastic coupling in CoTiO3 is also evident in Raman spectra, in which the magnetic order exerts a stronger influence on phonons corresponding to in-plane ionic motions than those with out-of-plane motions. We further examine the evolution of the zone-center magnons in a high magnetic field up to 18.5 T via THz absorption spectroscopy measurements. Based on this field dependence, we propose a spin Hamiltonian that not only agrees with magnon dispersion measured by inelastic neutron scattering but also includes fewer exchange constants and a realistic anisotropy term. Our work highlights the broad implications of magnetoelastic coupling in the study of topologically protected bosonic excitations.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain ***,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also demonstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

In this essay, we examine the history and current condition. We begin by outlining the history of big information reviewing similar technologies including centers, and Hadoop. The inverse eigenvalue problem of a graph G is the problem of characterizing all lists of eigenvalues of real symmetric matrices whose off-diagonal pattern is prescribed by the adjacencies of G. The strong spectral property is a powerful tool in this problem, which identifies matrices whose entries can be perturbed while controlling the pattern and preserving the eigenvalues. The Matrix Liberation Lemma introduced by Barrett et al. in 2020 advances the notion to a more general setting. In this paper we revisit the Matrix Liberation Lemma and prove an equivalent statement, that reduces some of the technical difficulties in applying the result. We test our method on matrices of the form M = AB and show how this new approach supplements the results that can be obtained from the strong spectral property only. While extending this notion to the direct sums of graphs, we discover a surprising connection with the zero forcing game on Cartesian products of graphs. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)provide a reliable and energyefficient solution for data collection from the Narrowband Internet of Things(NB-IoT)***,the UAV’s deployment optimization,including locations of the UAV’s stop points,is a necessity to minimize the energy consumption of the UAV and the NB-IoT devices and also to conduct the data collection *** this regard,this paper proposes GainingSharing Knowledge(GSK)algorithm for optimizing the UAV’s *** GSK,the number of UAV’s stop points in the three-dimensional space is encapsulated into a single individual with a fixed length representing an entire *** superiority of using GSK in the tackled problem is verified by simulation in seven *** provides significant results in all seven scenarios compared with other four optimization algorithms used before with the same ***,the NB-IoT is proposed as the wireless communication technology between the UAV and IoT devices.

Investment is a lifetime work. Investing in stocks is a popular measure. However, investing in stocks is not easy, and losing money is not uncommon. We investigate if there is a systematic way to find buyable stocks and more importantly when to buy and sell them. Nowadays, with the progress of hardwarel, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a feasible solution to many issues. Machine learning and deep learning are two widely adopted methods in AI. In this study, we show how to apply machine learning to stock prediction and recommendation. After trials, we found that LightGBM shows its potential to predict and recommend stocks. We used the data of the Taiwan stock market to validate the method. We compared the prediction and recommendation with the wellknown Taiwan ETFs 0050 and 0056. The results show that the method is feasible, effective, efficient, and has better performance than Taiwan ETFs 0050 and 0056. © 2022 IEEE.

A customer service chatbot enhanced with conversational language understanding and knowledge base is developed. Here, we explore LUIS and QnA Maker which are unified as Azure cognitive service for language. LUIS is a cloudbased conversational AI service that responds a user intelligence. QnA maker is a knowledge base for custom question answering. This question-and-answer knowledge base is especially useful for customer dialogs. Hence, by combining the services, we provide a smart response and provide a knowledge base to understand and improve the service. We implement this chatbot on the LINE Bot platform. Users easily access it by simply adding the representative of this chatbot on LINE. In addition, we put marketing information through this chatbot. The experiments are conducted, and the results show the chatbot is feasible and has a high user acceptance. © 2022 IEEE.
