Corrosion poses a significant challenge in industries due to material degradation and high maintenance costs, making effective inhibitors essential. Recent studies suggest expired pharmaceuticals as alternative corrosion inhibitors, but identifying the most efficient compounds can be time-consuming. This study applies machine learning models, particularly Gradient Boosting Regressor (GBR), to predict corrosion inhibition efficiency (CIE). The developed model is integrated into a web-based application, enabling real-time, accurate CIE predictions. Results show GBR as the more precise model for predicting CIE, with low error rates. The streamlit-based web application offers a user-friendly platform, facilitating quick identification of suitable inhibitors. It is flexible, supporting analysis beyond corrosion inhibitors, and significantly enhances the efficiency of the evaluation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Fine Tuning Attribute Weighted Naïve Bayes (FTAWNB) is a reliable modified Naïve Bayes model. Even though it is able to provide high accuracy on ordinal data, this model is sensitive to outliers. To improve the performance of FTAWNB, this research modified the Partial Instances Reduction (PIR) technique to make the FTAWNB more adaptive to outliers. Nevertheless, in contrast to the original PIR technique, which substitutes missing values for data values deemed outliers, the PIR technique suggested in this study replaces data values deemed outliers using a Naïve Bayes weighting approach. The attribute values from the outlier data are replaced with the highest probability values for the attributes in the actual class. This PIR technique is referred to as modified PIR. The FTAWNB model with modified PIR has been evaluated using the Gaming Disorder dataset. Replacing the four attributes with the least amount of information resulted in accuracy gains of 99.74%, an increase of 1.53% over the FTAWNB model. The experimental result shows that adding the modified PIR technique to the FTAWNB model can handle the outlier in the data, proving it by increasing the performance in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall without pruning the dataset used. © 2025, Ital Publication. Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs involved in transposon silencing and linked to cancer progression. However, their role in Wilms tumors (WT) remains unexplored. We conducted a thorough analysis and characterization of piRNAs in serum liquid biopsies of WT patients. Our study examined their expression patterns and functional annotations related to WT pathogenesis, as well as their clinical potential for diagnosis and monitoring. We identified 307 piRNAs expressed in WT serum samples, with 4% classified as repeat-related and 96% as non-repeat-related. The most abundant repeat-related piRNAs originated from LINEs retrotransposon, while tRNA-derived piRNAs were the most prevalent among non-repeat-related piRNAs. Furthermore, a distinct profile of 34 piRNAs showed significant differential expression in WT patients compared to healthy controls—22 downregulated and 12 upregulated. The target genes of differentially expressed piRNAs exhibited significant enrichment in biological pathways related to cytokine activity, inflammatory responses, TGF-beta signaling, p38 MAPK, and ErbB signaling. These genes are also involved in DNA damage response, DNA methylation, cell cycle regulation, as well as kidney development and function. Low expression levels of several piRNAs, especially piR-hsa-1,913,711, piR-hsa-28,190, piR-hsa-28,849, piR-hsa-28,848, and piR-hsa-28,318, showed significant diagnostic potential as non-invasive biomarkers for WT (AUC > 0.8, p < 0.05). Their expression levels also significantly correlated with adverse pathological features, including metastasis, anaplasia, and bilateral WT development. In conclusion, non-transposon-related piRNAs may serve as reliable biomarkers for WT and possess potential non-germline functions, particularly in regulating DNA methylation, cell growth, immune responses, and immune responses. Further studies are warranted to elucidate their functional significance. © The Author(s) 2025.

Interest in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven crowd work has increased during the last few years as a line of inquiry that expands upon prior research on microtasking to represent a means of scaling up complex tasks through AI mediation. Despite the increasing attention to the macrotask phenomenon in crowdsourcing, there is a need to understand the processes, elements, and constraints underlying the infrastructural and behavioral aspects in such form of crowd work when involving collaboration. To this end, this paper provides a first attempt to characterize some of the research conducted in this direction to identify important paths for an agenda comprising key drivers, challenges, and prospects for integrating human-centered AI in collaborative crowdsourcing environments.

User experience (UX) is a major concern in m-health (mobile health) application design. In the global attempt to eliminate Covid-19, m-health apps play a remarkable role. With the same spirit, tuberculosis (TB) as the world's top infectious killer after Covid-19 can be suppressed. Unlike Covid-19 where the patient can be either cured or killed in less than a month, TB need at least 6 months to be cured for the first stage of treatment. TB are highly contagious and easily spread in the poor hygiene condition. The purpose of this research is to design a user-oriented UX design. The design then can ease programmers working with Health Ministry or healthcare units to develop a fully functioning m-health app. In order to produce a user-oriented UX design, the research uses design thinking methodology. © 2024 IEEE.

Competency Skills (UKK) is part of government intervention in ensuring the quality of education in the Secondary Vocational School aims to measure the achievement of a certain level of competency in students' appropriate competency skills. The purpose of the research is to find out how competent the students' in their vocation as well as new strategies for educators in providing more effective learning by using C4.5 algorithm combining with feature selection. Overall the results of the validation of the model experiments that have the best influence are supplied with a set of test accuracy values of 96.875%, and 13 optimal attributes are selected. Therefore, in this study, the C4.5 algorithm with feature selection can provide good and effective results. © 2020 EAI.

This study aims to address the common issue of biased estimation errors in time series modeling by analyzing the error in locating ideal hyperparameters and defining appropriate validation methods. Specifically, it focuses on predicting the stock price of Bank Rakyat Indonesia using a combination of historical stock prices, technical indicators, exchange rates, and news sentiment data, while determining the optimal variables for deep learning models. Employing a deep learning-based Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) model, the study optimizes hyperparameters alongside walk-forward validation for time series prediction. It explores different combinations of variables and adapts the sliding window approach to the context of the data. The results highlight the importance of optimizing hyperparameters and utilizing walk-forward validation for accurate time series prediction. The model incorporating historical stock prices and sentiment scores outperforms others, achieving an RMSE of 96.61 and MAE of 86.97. Incorporating sentiment scores reduces RMSE by 39.55 % compared to models using only historical stock prices, while adding technical indicators does not yield improvement. This study contributes to the field by addressing the issue of biased estimation errors in time series modeling, offering insights into the optimization of hyperparameters and validation methods for accurate predictions. It also underscores the significance of incorporating sentiment analysis alongside historical stock prices for improved forecasting accuracy. © 2024 The Authors

It can be argued that the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) used in this research is an efficient algorithm for classifying images based on the end prediction of the path taken. In every plot that is made, there is a similar process for achieving a prediction of the final result. The implementation for each of these procedures follows the steps that are summarized into a flow of analysis stages that can help to develop the application of an algorithm. The initial stage is to take the handwriting from the user which is then pre-processed the image, to eliminate existing noise, and sharpen the contrast, so that the image can be seen clearly. Images will be processed and analyzed using the Convolutional Neural Network model, training will be carried out, with an average training of a dataset of 100 epochs or about 7 to 10 minutes, and labeling on the trained dataset. The accuracy of the training reached 98.89%, as a proportion of the different characteristics of the handwriting sample. © 2023 IEEE.

Automatic recognition system for medical images is quite a challenging job in the medical image processing field. X-rays, CT, and MRI all provide medical pictures and other modalities which are utilized for diagnostic purposes. As in medical sector, detecting tuberculosis (TB) is a very important stage before further treatment is carried out. Human interpretation of a vast array of X-ray pictures can result in detection mistakes, so an automatic recognition system is needed that can detect TB disease. In this study, we use a dataset with two classes and extract GLCM-based texture features from each class, and apply them to a two-layer feed-forward neural network, which gives a classification rate of 99%. © 2022 IEEE.
