This paper presents a radar-based heart rate monitoring and Inter-beat interval (IBI) estimation. Traditional IBI estimation relies on peak detection combined with signal processing techniques. Our approach uses signal reconstruction with a neural network, which significantly improves the accuracy and robustness of IBI estimation compared to conventional methods. By utilizing multi-channel input data, our approach effectively mitigates various sources of noise and interference, resulting in highly accurate and reliable IBI predictions. Instead of relying solely on peak detection, we use the U-net architecture and cross-channel attention mechanism to reconstruct the triangular waveform generated from the ground truth ECG signals. The incorporation of multi-channel input and channel-wise attention mechanism improves our model’s ability to discriminate and emphasize critical features from different input channels, further improving IBI estimation accuracy. To evaluate the accuracy and robustness of our proposed method, we trained our model on the open-source dataset [1], and then performed leave-one-subject-out validation, which ensures our approach to be evaluated only on unseen independent subjects. We have achieved a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 26.7 ms for the IBI of each heart-beat. Our results demonstrate the transformative potential of adopting signal reconstruction methods supported by state-of-the-art deep learning techniques. This shift in perspective promises more accurate and robust heart rate and IBI estimation, opening new avenues for improving the accuracy and reliability of cardiac monitoring systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In semiconductor processing to form surface shapes, photolithography and dry etching are used. In this case, the vacuum process requires improvements cost and productivity. We propose a sonic-Assisted processing method using the resonance phenomenon of stainless used steel plate diaphragms. This method is characterized by vibrating the diaphragm with sound pressure to vibrate the particles and microfabricate on Cu thin film [1][2]. To evaluate the sonic-Assisted processing method, we attempted to process Cu wafers by transmitting vibrations perpendicular to the wafer to a SUS plate diaphragm as a micro-shape transfer process using a micro-pattern pad. As a result, 100 μm length and 20 μm width grooves were formed on the Cu wafer surface. © 2024 IEEE.

A Survey on Hypergraph Mining: Patterns, Tools, and Generators

Hypergraphs, which belong to the family of higher-order networks, are a natural and powerful choice for modeling group interactions in the real world. For example, when modeling collaboration networks, which may involve not just two but three or more people, the use of hypergraphs allows us to explore beyond pairwise (dyadic) patterns and capture groupwise (polyadic) patterns. The mathematical complexity of hypergraphs offers both opportunities and challenges for hypergraph mining. The goal of hypergraph mining is to find structural properties recurring in real-world hypergraphs across different domains, which we call patterns. To find patterns, we need tools. We divide hypergraph mining tools into three categories: (1) null models (which help test the significance of observed patterns), (2) structural elements (i.e., substructures in a hypergraph such as open and closed triangles), and (3) structural quantities (i.e., numerical tools for computing hypergraph patterns such as transitivity). There are also hypergraph generators, whose objective is to produce synthetic hypergraphs that are a faithful representation of real-world hypergraphs. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of hypergraph mining, covering patterns, tools, and generators. We provide comprehensive taxonomies for each and offer in-depth discussions for future research on hypergraph mining. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

This study aims to clarify the distribution and the façade characteristics of roadside fireproof belt buildings in four prefectures of HOKURIKU region. The results are as follows;1) We extracted 425 buildings as roadside fireproof belt buildings. 2) We classified them into 13 types as to architectural forms and 5 types as to facade characteristics. 3) We confirmed regionwide trend of types, on the other hand, differences of characteristics each municipalities. © 2024 Architectural Institute of Japan. This study evaluates the performance of the REAL-ESRGAN [1] model on images with varying levels of degradation using the DIV2K dataset [2], such as the Wild, the Mild, the Difficult, and the x8 subsets. REAL-ESRGAN was created to solve super-resolution problems and aims to produce high-resolution images from low-resolution images. Experiments were conducted at scales of x2 and x4, and performance was measured using Full-Reference metrics (LPIPS, PSNR, SSIM) and No-Reference metrics (NIQE, MANIQA, CLIPIQA, and PI). The Results were good, especially with the x2 scale;it has higher PSNR and SSIM scores, lower LPIPS and NIQE values, and enhanced visual and perceptual quality. The model faced more significant challenges with the wild and the difficult datasets because they have more complex degradations and compression artifacts;it can be seen with unstable results of Full-Reference and No-Reference metrics. On the contrary, the Mild and x8 datasets yielded better results in both metrics;not only that, even the computational cost for Mild and x8 outperforms the rest of the dataset. This study shows the strengths and limitations of REAL-ESRGAN in handling different levels of image degradation. For future research, the model needs enhancement to tackle the degradation format of the wild and the difficult dataset. It would be good if the REAL-ESRGAN improvement could also maintain the computational cost. © 2024 IEEE.

The shape of airfoil contributes to the performance of the airfoil itself. Elastic deformation during unsteady motion not only generates vortices with larger vorticity, but also enables the generation of sustained dynamic lift than rigid moving airfoil. Membrane airfoils exhibit the high performance by elastic deformation with unsteady motion. Butterfly wing, which is an example of application of membrane airfoil, have been shown to generate a pair of vortex rings and dynamic lift through flapping motion. However, it has not been clarified sufficiently how the wing shape responds to changes in dynamic lift and vortex rings. In this study, authors also visualized the vortex ring, simultaneously measured the dynamic lift, and measured the wing shape. When the wing pass through the horizontal position (when the flapping angle φ = 0 deg.), the dynamic lift is at its maximum, and the vortex ring becomes more developed. As a result, the wing chord direction gradually curves, and when the flapping angle φ =-30 deg., the entire wing chord becomes camber shape. Since no deformation occurred in the wingspan direction at any flapping angle in this measurement range, it can be said that camber in the wing chord direction is necessary to generate the dynamic lift and vortex ring. © 2024 IEEE.

Cooperative jamming can effectively combat eavesdropping in physical layer security communication without affecting the legal receiver and improve the security performance of the *** paper introduces cooperative jamming to cognitive radio(CR)networks with non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)*** secure performance of the considered CR and NOMA(CR-NOMA)network is evaluated using two modes:non-cooperative jamming and cooperative *** particular,the secrecy outage probabilities(SOPs)of the primary user(PU)in the two modes are derived under Rician fading channels,based on which,the influences of the transmission signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of secondary users(SUs),the number of SUs,the secrecy rate,and the power allocation coefficient on the SOPs of PU are analyzed *** analysis and simulation results show that cooperative jamming effectively prevents eavesdropping behaviour,which reduces the SOP of PU compared to non-cooperative *** also show that the transmission SNR,the number of SUs,the secrecy rate,and the power distribution coefficients greatly influence performance improvement.

technology and information growth enable internet users to play a role in disseminating information, including hoax news. One way that to avoid hoax news is to look for sources of information, but valid news is not always perceived as 'true' by individuals because human judgments can lead to bias. Several studies on automatic hoax news classification have been carried out using various deep learning approaches such as the pre-trained multilingual transformer model. This study focuses on classifying Indonesian hoax news using the pre-trained transformer multilingual model (XLM-R and mBERT) combined with a BERTopic model as a topic distribution model. The result shows that the proposed method outperforms the baseline model in classifying fake news in the low-resource language (Indonesian) with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 results of 0.9051, 0.9515, 0.8233, and 0.8828 respectively. © 2022 Slovene Society Informatika. Music surrounds us, and there is no denying that music in visual media can shape and evoke emotions. Yet, understanding how musical preference influences emotions through audio and visual stimuli remains an important task. To address this task, we investigated the role of musical preference effect on perceived emotions induced through music and visual stimuli (i.e., animation), using a 7-point scale for valence-arousal ratings and physiological responses in electroencephalogram (EEG) band power. The perceived emotions are categorized into four states: happiness, calmness, fear, and sadness. One emotional state contains 4 sessions: (1) Preferred Music, (2) Unfamiliar Music, (3) Preferred Music+Animation, and (4) Unfamiliar Music+ Animation. Behavior-wise, the rating results showed that the presence of preferred music resulted in higher perceived valence ratings, particularly in happiness. However, no stimulus had a significant effect on perceived arousal ratings and satisfaction ratings. Physiologically, the EEG indexes showed that the presence of preferred music appears to affect an increase in alpha power across various emotions except sadness, whereas unfamiliar music seems to affect beta power, particularly in happiness and calmness. Overall, these findings supported that musical preference is an affective factor reflecting the levels of valence and alpha power in EEG. Nevertheless, our findings did not confirm a significant difference between only preferred music and combining it with animation. Interestingly, we also found that participants were more likely to be attracted to and perceive positive (i.e., happiness and calmness) emotions easily through preferred music and/or visual stimuli than negative (i.e., fear) emotions. © 2024 IEEE.

Trees are one of the most important living things on the planet. Trees help by being one of the largest producers' oxygens on planet, by absorbing groundwater and by maintaining soil fertility. Trees can also be one of the keys to reducing existing air pollution. Therefore, the number of existing trees must be maintained. The first step in maintaining the number of existing trees is to count or map them. One of the easiest ways is to do this use an algorithm. This study uses a tree-counting algorithm called Deep Forest. Deep Forest is a Python package that can detect trees through RGB satellite imagery. This study used satellite imagery from Pleiades on an area in Kulon Progo district, Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the image-one of the four regencies within Yogyakarta Province in Indonesia. In addition to the Deep Forest algorithm, this research also used an application provided by Esri called ArcGIS Pro. With this application, data preprocessing such as labeling the data and creating the deep learning dataset for research is much easier, while ArcGIS Pro provides tools for labeling and exporting the data to jupyter notebook. The result obtained using the Deep Forest algorithm is the F1 score with an accuracy of 0.76 for the first experiment, 0.774 for the second experiment, and 0.779 for the final experiment. © 2024 IEEE.
