The hybrid tensor network (HTN) method is a general framework allowing for the construction of an effective wavefunction with the combination of classical tensors and quantum tensors, i.e., amplitudes of quantum states. In particular, hybrid tree tensor networks (HTTNs) are very useful for simulating larger systems beyond the available size of the quantum hardware. However, while the realistic quantum states in NISQ hardware are highly likely to be noisy, this framework is formulated for pure states. In this work, as well as discussing the relevant methods, i.e., Deep VQE and entanglement forging under the framework of HTTNs, we investigate the noisy HTN states by introducing the expansion operator for providing the description of the expansion of the size of simulated quantum systems and the noise propagation. This framework enables the general tree HTN states to be explicitly represented and their physicality to be discussed. We also show that the expectation value of a measured observable exponentially vanishes with the number of contracted quantum tensors. Our work will lead to providing the noise-resilient construction of HTN states. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Recently, reported a comments on the our paper [Appl. Phys. Lett. 119, 142102(2021)]. With our response, the APL journal rejected their non scientificcomments. There are some ambiguities about their claim: 1-They can check thephonon dispersion of their structure to see ZA out-of-plane mode. 2-They reportthe uniaxial stress-strain responses in Fig 2., which is unrelated to ourpaper. For a more helpful understanding of the mechanical properties of thenovel C6N7 monolayer, they can publish a paper. 3-They mentioned: Using the DFTmethod and with assuming a thickness of 3.35 A for the C6N7 monolayer based ongraphene thickness. Why did they choose this thickness while we know our C6N7monolayer is at without buckling? The distance of ZA out-of-plane movement ofions in C6N7 is different from Graphene. © 2022, CC BY.

Adaptive thermal comfort guidelines have been developed within the work of Annex 69: "Strategy and practice of adaptive thermal comfort in low energy buildings". The guidelines have been established based on a framework for adopting adaptive thermal comfort principles in building design and operation developed by the authors. The guidelines target building practitioners, addressing the critical interrelated role building planners, building operators and occupants play. A successful adaptive thermal comfort design, in which design for human thermal adaptation is foreseen, planned, and carefully embedded in the design and operation intent, is based on broad knowledge and understanding of the multiple quantifiable and non-quantifiable factors influencing human perception, as well as human building interaction. Adaptive building design follows a user-centric integrated design approach and therefore it is critical to consider the occupants' and the operators' role in buildings already in the design phase. This paper focuses on three main challenges identified earlier and how these are addressed in the guidelines, i.e. i) updating prevailing knowledge about human thermophysiology and adaptation, ii) developing a procedure for design of adaptive opportunities, and iii) providing guidance for operational planning and operation of adaptive buildings. Multi-frame joint enhancement for early interlaced videos

Early interlaced videos usually contain multiple and interlacing and complex compression artifacts, which significantly reduce the visual quality. Although the high-definition reconstruction technology for early videos has made great progress in recent years, related research on deinterlacing is still lacking. Traditional methods mainly focus on simple interlacing mechanism, and cannot deal with the complex artifacts in real-world early videos. Recent interlaced video reconstruction deep deinterlacing models only focus on single frame, while neglecting important temporal information. Therefore, this paper proposes a multiframe deinterlacing network joint enhancement network for early interlaced videos that consists of three modules, i.e., spatial vertical interpolation module, temporal alignment and fusion module, and final refinement module. The proposed method can effectively remove the complex artifacts in early videos by using temporal redundancy of multi-fields. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can recover high quality results for both synthetic dataset and real-world early interlaced videos. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Anomalous Shiba states in topological iron-based superconductors

We demonstrate the formation of robust zero energy modes close to magnetic impurities in the iron-based superconductor FeSe1−xTex. We find that the Zeeman field generated by the impurity favors a spin-triplet inter-orbital pairing as opposed to the spin-singlet intra-orbital pairing prevalent in the bulk. The preferred spin-triplet pairing preserves time-reversal symmetry and is topological, as robust, topologically-protected zero modes emerge at the boundary between regions with different pairing states. Moreover, the zero modes form Kramers doublets that are insensitive to the direction of the spin polarization or to the separation between impurities. We argue that our theoretical results are consistent with recent experimental measurements on FeSe1−xTex. © 2022, CC BY.

Vertical green systems (VGS) are expected to mitigate outdoor heat stress through a transpiration cooling effect. There is a lack of knowledge on how VGS influence outdoor thermal comfort, particularly focusing on energy flux. This study quantifies the outdoor cooling effects of VGS, and distinguishes the energy flux between them and outdoor urban spaces. In addition, we discuss their cooling efficiency. Outdoor experiments were conducted during the hot summer period on building facades in city. Our study on VGS focused on the measurement of climatic variables, surface temperatures of plant leaves (Fatsia japonica), net radiation, and estimating transpiration and evaporation. The surface temperature of VGS were up to 4.3 °C higher than those of high albedo walls, while the reflected radiations (short and long-wave radiation) were 120 w/m2 lower than albedo walls during the day. The mean radiant temperature (MRT) of VGS was 3.02 °C lower than the high albedo wall during daytime, except in the case of shaded areas (0.45 °C). We confirmed that the cooling efficiency of transpiration was 7.38 times more effective than evaporation from soil without plants. Therefore, VGS is efficient in terms of long-term heat reduction and can be an effective strategy to mitigate outdoor heat stress. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Machine learning models that are used for the prediction and control of production can improve quality and yield. However, developing models that are highly accurate and reflective of real-world processes is challenging. We propose a feedforward neural network model specifically designed for continuous Multistage Manufacturing Processes (MMPs) without intermediate outputs. This model, which is termed “MMP Net,” can accurately represent the control mechanism of continuous MMPs. Whereas existing studies on learning MMPs assume an intermediate output data, the MMP Net does not require such an unrealistic assumption. We use the MMP Net to develop prediction models for the lubricant base oil production process of a world-leading lubricant manufacturer. Evaluation results show that the MMP Net is superior to other deep neural network and machine learning models. Consequently, the MMP Net was actually implemented in a real factory in 2022 and is expected to save 900,000 dollars per year for each production line. We believe that our work can serve as a basis to develop customized machine learning solutions for improving continuous MMPs.

The rising demand for high quality display has ensued active research in high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, which has the potential to replace the standard dynamic range imaging. This is due to HDR's features like accurate reproducibility of a scene with its entire spectrum of visible lighting and color depth. But this capability comes with expensive capture, display, storage and distribution resource requirements. Also, display of HDR images/video content on an ordinary display device with limited dynamic range requires some form of adaptation. Many adaptation algorithms, widely known as tone mapping operators, have been studied and proposed in the last few decades. In this state of the art report, we present a comprehensive survey of 50+ tone mapping algorithms that have been implemented on hardware for acceleration and real-time performance. These algorithms have been adapted or redesigned to make them hardware-friendly. This effort leads to various design challenges that are encountered during the hardware development. Any real-time application poses strict timing constraints which requires time exact processing of the algorithm. Also, most of the embedded systems would have limited system resources in terms of battery, computational power and memory resources. These design challenges require novel solutions, and in this report we focus on these issues. In this we survey will discuss those tonemap algorithms which have been implemented on GPU [1-10], FPGA [11-41], and ASIC [42-53] in terms of their hardware specifications and performance. Output image quality is an important metric for tonemap algorithms. From our literature survey we found that, various objective quality metrics have been used to demonstrate the functionality of adapting the algorithm on hardware platform. We have compiled and studied all the metrics used in this survey [54-67]. Finally, in this report we demonstrate the link between hardware cost and image quality thereby illustrating the under
