This paper tackles the short-term hydro-power unit commitment problem in a multi-reservoir system - a cascade-based operation scenario. For this, we propose a new mathematical modelling in which the goal is to maximize the total energy production of the hydro-power plant in a sub-daily operation, and, simultaneously, to maximize the total water content (volume) of reservoirs. For solving the problem, we discuss the Multi-objective Evolutionary Swarm Hybridization (MESH) algorithm, a recently proposed multiobjective swarm intelligence-based optimization method which has obtained very competitive results when compared to existing evolutionary algorithms in specific applications. The MESH approach has been applied to find the optimal water discharge and the power produced at the maximum reservoir volume for all possible combinations of turbines in a hydro-power plant. The performance of MESH has been compared with that of well-known evolutionary approaches such as NSGA-II, NSGA-III, SPEA2, and MOEA/D in a realistic problem considering data from a hydro-power energy system with two cascaded hydro-power plants in Brazil. Results indicate that MESH showed a superior performance than alternative multi-objective approaches in terms of efficiency and accuracy, providing a profit of $412,500 per month in a projection analysis carried out. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Background: Wound healing is a complex and dynamic process involving the replacement of devitalized and missing cellular structures and tissue layers. Methods: This study involved developing a drug-loaded biomimetic micropillar wound dressing based upon inspiration from witnessing the adhesive ability in a gecko's footpad. The conformal adhesion was set up by applying a soft elastomer thin film on the developed wound dressing surfaces. The results showed that the developed surfaces prepared based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) had low surface free energy, high chemical stability, and good plasticity. Astaxanthin (AST) and curcumin were applied as the patch's bioactive compounds to help accelerate the wound healing process. Results: The results showed that the developed surfaces prepared based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) had low surface free energy, high chemical stability, and good plasticity. The results indicate that the developed biomimetic micropillar patches could release the loaded drugs and significantly increase cell viability and collagen content to 20 % ∼ 25 % in vitro and in vivo. We present an ab initio derivation method for effective low-energy Hamiltonians of material with strong spin-orbit interactions. The effective Hamiltonian is described in terms of the Wannier function in the spinor form, and effective interactions are derived with the constrained random phase approximation (cRPA) method. Based on this formalism and the developed code, we derive an effective Hamiltonian of a strong spin-orbit interaction material Ca5Ir3O12. This system consists of three edge-shared IrO6 octahedral chains arranged along the c axis, and the three Ir atoms in the ab plane compose a triangular lattice. For such a complicated structure, we need to set up the Wannier spinor function under the local coordinate system. We found that a density-functional band structure near the Fermi level is formed by local dxy and dyz orbitals. Then, we constructed the ab initio dxy/dyz model. The estimated nearest-neighbor transfer t is close to 0.2 eV, and the cRPA on-site U and neighboring V electronic interactions are found to be 2.4–2.5 eV and 1 eV, respectively. The resulting characteristic correlation strength defined by (U−V)/t is above 7, and thus this material is classified as a strongly correlated electron system. The on-site transfer integral involved in the spin-orbit interaction is 0.2 eV, which is comparable to the on-site exchange integrals ∼0.2 eV, indicating that the spin-orbit-interaction physics would compete with the Hund physics. Based on these calculated results, we discuss possible rich ground-state low-energy electronic structures of spin, charge, and orbitals with competing Hund, spin-orbit, and strong-correlation physics.

The role of information technology in sports organizations is important to analyze all aspects including how to win in the competition based on various internal and external factors. The approach that used to enhance the sports organizations is sports science, which is a concept that contributes to the development of athletes by collaborating in many fields and studies, such as anatomy, physiology, psychology, engineering, chemistry, etc. The approach of Sport science articulates the technology that blended on all of the approached. Currently, the use of sports technology or science in Indonesia is also very low in all sports categories. Usually, the management and coaches look at player statistics based on manual data or reports to view player statistics periodically. There is still a lack of exploration to use player statistics to be used by coaches to improve the ability of the players and the organization. This research will propose how to develop sports science with a business intelligence approach that used the Kimball data mart approach as decision support in the field of sports so that management and coaches can apply the correct approach to improve the capacity of players and organizational development. The result of this study will provide the model of sports science that can be implemented for a professional sports organization in Indonesia.

This study aims at modeling tour agencies' best traveling paths using prim's algorithm and applicable in any tourism cities. In this case we take the area of Greater Malang, which has a lot of tourism sites, as part of this study. By this model, it is expected to help tour agencies in any tourism cities to set up the best traveling paths as part of their daily businesses. From the business perspective, this will increase efficiencies in the sense of saving time, fuel and cost of transportation, and in turn, it leads to an increase of business profitability. These efficiencies also apply on the customer side, i.e., the tourists because they also save their time and implicitly this will impact to the quality of their time spent in tourism sites.

In this work, we propose a spatially adaptive HEVC intra mode pre-selection for equirectangular (ERP) 360 video coding. The proposed technique exploits the spatial characteristics of 360 video in the ERP projection to reduce the complexity of intra prediction mode selection. The number of intra modes evaluated in Rate-Distortion Optimization is reduced based on a score technique that is adaptive to the frame region being encoded. Results show that the proposed technique achieves a complexity reduction of 16.5% with low coding efficiency penalties.

Deep learning techniques have successfully been employed in numerous computer vision tasks including image segmentation. The techniques have also been applied to medical image segmentation, one of the most critical tasks in computer-aided diagnosis. Compared with natural images, the medical image is a gray-scale image with low-contrast (even with some invisible parts). Because some organs have similar intensity and texture with neighboring organs, there is usually a need to refine automatic segmentation results. In this paper, we propose an interactive deep refinement framework to improve the traditional semantic segmentation networks such as U-Net and fully convolutional network. In the proposed framework, we added a refinement network to traditional segmentation network to refine the segmentation *** results with public dataset revealed that the proposed method could achieve higher accuracy than other state-of-the-art methods. In this paper, we propose a sextuple cross-coupled SRAM cell, namely SCCS18T, protected against double-node upsets. Since the proposed SCCS18T cell forms a large feedback loop for value retention and error interception, the cell can provide self-recoverability from any single-node upsets (SNUs) and partial double-node upsets (DNUs). Moreover, the proposed cell has optimized operation speed due to the use of six access transistors. Simulation results show that the SCCS18T cell can save approximately 65% read access time at the cost of 49% power dissipation and 50% silicon area on average, compared with typical hardened SRAM cells.

Door plays an important role in home security. To secure the house, the occupants of the house will always have the door locked. However, sometimes the house occupants forget to lock the door due to hurry when leaving the house, or they may doubt whether they have locked the door or not. We propose an application called Door Security System which is based on Android using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor the status of the door, controlling the door and increasing security in a house. MQTT cloud is utilized as the communication protocol between smartphone and door lock system. PIR sensor is implemented in the door lock to detect the movement near the door, while touch sensor is installed on the door handle to recognize the human hand. Should the door is opened by force, the alarm will ring and send notification to alert the house occupant on the existence of intruder in the house. The evaluation results show that motion detection sensor can detect movement accurately up to 1,6 meters ahead, and messages published between smartphone and door lock are encrypted properly so messages are safely sent.

Sports science can have a significant and positive impact on coaches and athletes, as well as for the professional sports organization. According to this situation, more and more organizations are competing to implement sports science as the monitoring systems. Along with the development of technology, it becomes easier for humans to carry out their activities, including communication with each other. Advances in the field of communication technologies have led to the use of social networks to support all activity. With social media, all kinds of information that people want to search for can be found easily. Social networks have their uniqueness in their characteristics. Like LINE has free calling and video calling features, while Instagram has features like Instagram Story, where users can document their activities in the form of photos or recordings. By all the characteristics of social networks, it will support the activity of sports science. The methodology of this research focused on quantitative research based on the T-test approach. The result shows that social media involvement can significantly support collaboration in sports science, so it can increase people's motivation to interact with other participants in sport organizations.
