In this paper, we propose a new framework for vehicle detection and tracking. Multi-features are used in the vehicle detection algorithm, which can be divided into two main steps: generation of candidates using features such as the shadow and vertical edge, and verification of the candidates using HOG and SVM. In the vehicle tracking algorithm, the RGB model and orientation histogram are used to represent the object feature, and the mean shift is employed to search the mode of the potential object rapidly in a neighborhood frame, which obtains the preliminary tracking results. Then, we use ORB feature matching and correction methods to adjust the preliminary tracking results. The improved Mean-Shift tracking results and the ORB correction results are then fused by linear weighted, which obtains the final results of the tracking. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is robust and validate in complicated real scenes. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

We study the quark sector of the universal seesaw model with SU(2)L × SU(2)R × U(1). The model incorporates the seesaw mechanism with the vector-like quarks (VLQs). The purpose of this work is to study the model with the effective theory. After integrating the heavy five VLQs, we derive the effective theory with four up-type quark and three down type quark. This paper proposes a multi-label classification algorithm based on an algorithm adaptation approach by applying the Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) and the Bayesian approach for a label association process. In the proposed algorithm, the prior probability and likelihood are updated sequentially. Moreover, an ART-based clustering algorithm continually extracts useful information for multi-label classification, and holds the extracted information on prototype nodes generated by the clustering algorithm. Thanks to the above properties, the proposed algorithm can continually learn multi-label data. Our experimental results in this paper show that the proposed algorithm has better classification performance compared to typical multi-label classification algorithms.

Wind power has been experiencing a quick improvement. Without a doubt, wind is a variable asset that is hard to forecast. For instance, traditionally time series, extra holds are distributed to deal with this uncertainty. This paper presents a comparison of the performance of various Support Vector Regression (SVR) applied to short-term wind power forecasting. The analogy with BORUTA and multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) as judge best input and employ genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization to find best parameter in Support Vector Regression with robust lost function. We measure the accuracy of this models by Symmetric means absolute percentage error (sMAPE) and we get the best model BORUTA-SVR-PSO with sMAPE 2.07155%. Moreover, we measure the energy conversion using Feedback Linearization Control (FLC). © International Association of Engineers.

The cryptic invasion of golden apple snails (Pomacea canaliculata and P. maculata) in Taiwan has caused significant ecological and economical damage over the last few decades, however, their management remains difficult due to inadequate taxonomic identification, complex phylogeny, and limited population genetic information. We aim to understand the current distribution, putative population of origin, genetic diversity, and potential path of cryptic invasion of Pomacea canaliculata and P. maculata across Taiwan to aid in improved mitigation approaches. The present investigation conducted a nationwide survey with 254 samples collected from 41 locations in 14 counties or cities across Taiwan. We identified P. canaliculata and P. maculata based on mitochondrial COI and compared their genetic diversity across Taiwan, as well as other introduced and native countries (based on publicly available COI data) to understand the possible paths of invasion to Taiwan. Based on mitochondrial COI barcoding, sympatric and heterogeneous distributions of invasive P. canaliculata and P. maculata were noted. Our haplotype analysis and mismatch distribution results suggested multiple introductions of P. canaliculata in Taiwan was likely originated directly from Argentina, whereas P. maculata was probably introduced from a single, or a few, introduction event(s) from Argentina and Brazil. Our population genetic data further demonstrated a higher haplotype and genetic diversity for P. canaliculata and P. maculata in Taiwan compared to other introduced regions. Based on our current understanding, the establishment of P. canaliculata and P. maculata is alarming and widespread beyond geopolitical borders, requiring a concerted and expedited national and international invasive species mitigation program. © 2024 The Authors. This paper will implement the water level estimation of the dam from Myanmar. We use the time series stochastic model to calculate the water level estimation varying on in flow and consumption of dam. This approach is applying probability of Markovian Time Series. This paper based on rainfall and the other factors of dam water storage such as inflow and outflow of dam. This result estimate actual monthly water spread area and shows error is small. This research result also highlight that Markovian Time Series model is one of the best estimate processes for water level estimation.

Learning deep multi-level similarity for thermal infrared object tracking

Existing deep Thermal InfraRed (TIR) trackers only use semantic features to describe the TIR object, which lack the sufficient discriminative capacity for handling distractors. This becomes worse when the feature extraction network is only trained on RGB images. To address this issue, we propose a multi-level similarity model under a Siamese framework for robust TIR object tracking. Specifically, we compute different pattern similarities on two convolutional layers using the proposed multi-level similarity network. One of them focuses on the global semantic similarity and the other computes the local structural similarity of the TIR object. These two similarities complement each other and hence enhance the discriminative capacity of the network for handling distractors. In addition, we design a simple while effective relative entropy based ensemble subnetwork to integrate the semantic and structural similarities. This subnetwork can adaptive learn the weights of the semantic and structural similarities at the training stage. To further enhance the discriminative capacity of the tracker, we construct the first large scale TIR video sequence dataset for training the proposed model. The proposed TIR dataset not only benefits the training for TIR tracking but also can be applied to numerous TIR vision tasks. Extensive experimental results on the VOT-TIR2015 and VOT-TIR2017 benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed algorithm performs favorably against the state-of-the-art methods. Until recently, sorafenib has been the only treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Some patients, however, exhibit resistance to this treatment and subsequently experience cancer progression, recurrence, or death. Therefore, identifying a new alternative treatment for patients with little or no response to sorafenib treatment is vital. In this study, we explored the therapeutic potential and underlying molecular mechanism of antrocinol ((3aS,4R,6aS,10aR)-4-(hydroxymethyl)-7,7-dimethyldecahydro-1H-naphtho[1,8a-c]furan-1-one) in patients with HCC. The results indicated that antrocinol was more therapeutically effective than antrocin, Stivarga, and sorafenib against HCC cell lines. Antrocinol also substantially suppressed the expression of KRAS-GTP, p-MEK1/2, p-ERK1/2, and p-AKT in the Huh7 cell line. Additionally, antrocinol-induced apoptosis in the Huh7 cell line, inhibited the formation of tumorspheres, and suppressed the expression of cancer stem cell markers CD133, KLF4, CD44, OCT4, SOX2, and c-Myc. Animal studies revealed that antrocinol alone considerably suppressed tumor growth in nonobese diabetic/severe combined immunodeficient mice inoculated with Huh7 tumorspheres. It also synergistically enhanced the anticancer effect of sorafenib, resulting in enhanced suppression of tumor growth (p < 0.001) and tumorsphere formation (p < 0.001). In tumor samples resected from mice treated with antrocinol alone or in combination with sorafenib, immunohistochemical analysis revealed an increase in BAX expression and a decrease in ERK and AKT protein expression. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the anti-HCC activity of antrocinol. With its higher therapeutic efficacy than that of sorafenib, antrocinol is a candidate drug for patients with HCC who demonstrate little or no response to sorafenib treatment. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

Chronic wounds have a significant impact on patients’ quality of life, necessitating the management of pain, infection, bleeding, and emotional challenges. Debridement, which involves the removal of nonviable tissue, is crucial for promoting wound healing. In addition to surgical methods, cost-effective alternatives such as local solutions and ointments with biological properties have been explored. The use of natural compounds with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and collagen-synthesizing abilities holds promise for wound healing. This in vitro and in vivo preclinical study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of a wound healing ointment containing bioactive ingredients derived from medicinal plants (extracts, essential oils, and vegetable oils). The chemical composition of the ointment was characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to gain insights into its synergistic action. Preclinical tests were conducted following standardized protocols. FTIR analysis revealed similarities between the product’s spectrum and that of bioactive compounds. The in vitro tests demonstrated that all formulations of the ointment induced no cell death, DNA damage, or acute toxicity in cell cultures (p < 0.05). No lethal dose was observed, indicating the safety of the ointment at all concentrations. The ointment also stimulated a notably more organized, significantly higher collagen production compared to control groups (p < 0.05). In vivo preclinical analyses also demonstrated no adverse responses being effective in the healing process compared to the control group (silver sulfadiazine) in terms of wound contraction and ulcer re-epithelization (p < 0.05). Significantly higher means of wound contraction were observed in the groups treated with the bioactive-containing ointment when compared to both the positive control group (sulfadiazine) and the control untreated groups (p < 0.05). Development of an efficient technique towards the detection of miRNAs is highly significant for the timely diagnosis and prognosis of cancers. In this study, we utilized the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique to grow bilayer graphene (BLG) on copper foil and subsequently transferred the BLG to fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate via a facile wet transfer technique. The upper layer of the BLG was modified to graphene oxide (GO) with a low damage plasma treatment (LDPT) process to serve as a biomolecule receiving layer and the lower graphene layer (G) serves as an electron transport layer. The developed GO/G/FTO platform offers superior sensing ability towards the miRNA-21. The results demonstrated that the proposed GO/G/FTO substrate detect the miRNA-21 with a wide linear range (10 fM ∼ 1 nM), low limit of detection (3.18 fM), high sensitivity (0.6 mApM⁻¹cm⁻²), selectivity and stability via the differential pulse voltammetry method. Additionally, the sensors can efficiently discriminate the target miRNA-21 from its complementary base mismatched counterparts. The proposed approach serves as an excellent tool for the early diagnosis of diseases. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.
