The water management in various countries of the world provides a comprehensive understanding of the international movement on healthy watershed management. Watershed characteristics including River basin management in the UK, eco-health watershed management in Canada, sustainable water management in Korea, integrated watershed management in Japan, and healthy watershed management in the US have been examined in this review. Pioneering countries utilize green infrastructural applications to improve their resilience against climate change by adopting adaptive solutions and mitigating pollution sources. This paper includes an overview of the implementation of green infrastructure exemplified by bioretention in urban development and ecosystem maintenance. The good engineering practice for bioretention was established by applying data collected from other research. Biomantle and semi-direct injection of storm water are the two methods for sustaining bioretention functionalities for peak flow reduction and soil stability enhancement. Maximum pollutants reduction efficiencies by bioretention were reported in the past research, including 99% of phosphorus, 82% of nitrate, 92% of heavy metals, and 96% of suspended solid. Lastly, a conclusive benefit analysis of green infrastructure from environmental, economic, and social perspectives was conducted. © 2020

Phthalate ester (PAE) contamination, particularly from dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), originating from landfills and released into the environment, poses a significant concern. Understanding PAE biodegradation is crucial for developing bioremediation strategies. This study used cover material from a 1-month-old landfill for soil microcosms. Indigenous microbes effectively removed 300 mg kg⁻¹ of DBP and DEHP as individual and mixed substrates, achieving complete DBP removal and 70% DEHP removal at room temperature (27–30 °C) and 37 °C. Actinobacteria were dominant, indicating potential active PAE-degraders. Shotgun metagenomic analysis revealed an increased abundance of potential PAE catabolic genes, such as those encoding esterase, lipase, and dioxygenase, under all conditions, mainly associated with Streptomyces, Saccharopolyspora, Nocardia, Nocardioides, and Amycolatopsis. The genes associated with Saccharopolyspora were abundant at 37 °C, while those related to Nocardia and Actinomadura were prevalent at room temperature, suggesting temperature preferences. The genera Saccharopolyspora and Actinomadura have not been linked to PAE degradation, indicating potential novel PAE degraders. Furthermore, PAE-degrading bacteria were isolated using media designed from metagenomic data and were categorized into Streptomyces, Amycolatopsis, and Nocardia. This work highlights the roles of rare taxa and provides insights into potential novel PAE degraders, emphasizing the need for further research into these organisms. © The Author(s) 2025.

Using robots is demanding for supporting our lives and/or covering works that are not suitable for human beings. The robot software implementation requires a variety of knowledge and experiences. Thereby developing cost for such software systems is now increasing. Middleware systems such as Robot Operating System (ROS) are being developed to decrease such cost and widely used. Streaming data Sharing Manager (SSM) is one of such middleware systems that allow developers to write and read sensor data with timestamps using a common PC. This feature enables developers to control a robot by taking account of measured time. This control is important because using multiple sensor data with different timestamp cannot allow developers to control a robot correctly. SSM assumes that only one PC is used to control a robot, therefore if it exists a process that consumes much CPU resource, other processes cannot finish their assumed deadlines, leading to the unexpected behavior of a robot. This paper proposes an architecture called Distributed Streaming data Sharing Manager (DSSM) that enables to distributing each process on existing SSM to different PCs. We investigate the current architecture and behavior of SSM, then propose a new architecture that can achieve our goal. Finally, we apply DSSM to an existing SSM based robot control system that autonomously controls an unmanned vehicle, then confirm the effectiveness of DSSM by measuring the resource usages.

There are considerable obstacles against realizing practical quantum computing: a significant amount of computation errors and the restricted qubit count. As a unified method of noise-agnostic quantum error mitigation (QEM) methods, i.e., the quantum subspace expansion and virtual purification, a generalized quantum subspace expansion (GSE) has recently been proposed that is significantly robust against stochastic and coherent errors. However, GSE requires entangled measurements between copies of the quantum states, which is a significant drawback under the current situation of the restricted number of qubits and their connectivity. In this work, we propose a resource-efficient implementation of GSE, which we name "Dual-GSE", circumventing significant overheads of state copies by constructing an ansatz of error-mitigated quantum states via dual-state purification. Remarkably, Dual-GSE can further simulate larger quantum systems beyond the size of available quantum hardware with a suitable ansatz construction inspired by divide-and-conquer methods that forge entanglement classically. This also significantly reduces the measurement overhead because we only need to measure subsystems’ Pauli operators. The proposed method is demonstrated by a numerical simulation of the eight-qubit transverse-field Ising model, showing that our method estimates the ground state energy with high precision under gate noise with low mitigation overhead and practical sampling cost. STEAM education is currently one of the most important parts of the elementary school curriculum. If STEAM learning can cultivate good problem-solving ability, it will also help improve judgment and thinking abilities. Several voices in the literature have argued for cooperative learning in STEAM courses. Although the effectiveness of course learning often is evaluated using course feedback forms, there is comparatively little emphasis on whether a course succeeds in realizing cooperative learning. For a course involving self-propelled toy-brick cars, there is little research on the application of low-grade pupils. Therefore, based on the integration of STEAM courses into self-propelled toy-brick car learning, this study applied two learning strategies of cooperative learning and individual learning to low-grade pupils in the second grade in elementary schools. After completing the course problem-solving ability indicators were measured and analyzed using the problem-solving ability test. The results show that the mean score of the experimental group in the problem-solving ability test was higher than that of the control group. In the problem-solving ability test, the scores of the two groups were also significantly different, which suggests that cooperative learning is more effective than individual learning strategies. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Covid-19 pandemic is an international disaster that is experienced by almost all countries in the world. This has an impact on all lines of the life of each country. Among them is the education sector. Aside from efforts to solve this co-19 problem, the state must continue to maintain the stability and sustainability of the learning process that is the right of all citizens. Indonesia experienced the same thing. face to face learning “shock” and immediately take the fastest action by utilizing existing technology, but not all of them are ready. Using survey methods and adopting the theories of Delon and McLean, this study aims to determine the readiness of organizers, lectures, and students for current conditions, their readiness in undergoing the learning process while maintaining the quality of education and user satisfaction (instructors and students) towards learning. The results of this study prove that we all tend to be unprepared but strangely, on the other hand, the fact is that the positive things from this pandemic prove that education practitioners in Indonesia are better prepared by online learning because they are more comfortable and satisfied with online learning while supported by the government and a good system (96% of respondents) compared to face to face (4% of respondents).

Pneumonia is a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection that causes swelling of the tissues in one or both lungs. Diagnosis for pneumonia requires an expert to find anomalies in the X-ray images, as it is a widespread disease, and it is not always possible for doctors to review all the cases. Most of the caused deaths are due to late diagnosis or some human error, which leads to an incorrect diagnosis of the disease. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to make an automated diagnosis and identify infected regions in the lungs. The proposed method uses a Mask RCNN object detector, which can identify anomalies in the lungs and also detect whether that anomaly is a pneumonia infection or is some other type of lung disease. The experimental results state that our proposed method gets an IoU score of 0.155, which is about 9% improvement other methods, i.e., YOLOv3, UNet, and Resnet used for Pneumonia infected tissue identification.

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an emerging technology that allows users to transmit data without any physical infrastructure. Among those MANET protocols, Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm (TORA) is an on-demand MANET routing protocol that attempts to find routes according to the directed acyclic graph (DAG). However, the TORA protocol requires strict synchronization. The routing overhead of TORA will increase linearly with the packet transmission rate. Motivated by Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL), we propose an ad hoc link-layer protocol called TORA-based Wireless Protocol (TWP) in this article. TWP can be deployed on embedded devices with Linux-kernel systems. Besides, it has unique frame structures and mechanisms. Also, it can implement synchronization and a TORA-like routing function at the link layer. We analyze the performance of TWP via experiments on Raspberry Pis. The results show that TWP can perform routing and data transmission successfully. It performs well in synchronization and can effectively reduce the routing overhead during the process of network routing.

Let G be a graph and T1,T2 be two spanning trees of G. We say that T1 can be transformed into T2 via an edge flip if there exist two edges e ∈ T1 and f in T2 such that T2 = (T1 \e)∪f. Since spanning trees form a matroid, one can indeed transform a spanning tree into any other via a sequence of edge flips, as observed in [11]. We investigate the problem of determining, given two spanning trees T1,T2 with an additional property Π, if there exists an edge flip transformation from T1 to T2 keeping property Π all along. First we show that determining if there exists a transformation from T1 to T2 such that all the trees of the sequence have at most k (for any fixed k ≥ 3) leaves is PSPACE-complete. We then prove that determining if there exists a transformation from T1 to T2 such that all the trees of the sequence have at least k leaves (where k is part of the input) is PSPACE-complete even restricted to split, bipartite or planar graphs.
