Multivalent interactions between protein‐oligomer‐fused binding pairs allowed highly monodisperse assembly of two protein oligomers, where spacing between oligomers can be widely varied. Two different oligomers or three oligomers can also be discretely assembled into protein layer structures via this *** approaches to design monodisperse protein assemblies require rigid, tight, and symmetric interactions between oligomeric protein units. Herein, we introduce a new multivalent‐interaction‐driven assembly strategy that allows flexible, spaced, and asymmetric assembly between protein oligomers. We discovered that two polygonal protein oligomers (ranging from triangle to hexagon) dominantly form a discrete and stable two‐layered protein prism nanostructure via multivalent interactions between fused binding pairs. We demonstrated that protein nano‐prisms with long flexible peptide linkers (over 80 amino acids) between protein oligomer layers could be discretely formed. Oligomers with different structures could also be monodispersely assembled into two‐layered but asymmetric protein nano‐prisms. A Software Defined Network Scheme for Intra Datacenter Network Based on Fat-Tree Topology

Nowadays datacenters face a big challenge, because the development of cloud services requests a large amount of capital input, high maintenance skills and cost. The major disadvantages of current datacenter network include the high cost of equipment and maintenance, QoS, failure recovery time, network virtualization etc. In this paper, we proposed a software defined datacenter network. The programmable controller is responsible for the management of the traffic scheduling including topology discovery, routing and Quality of Service. The SDN is based on Fat-tree network architecture and max-min fairness. A Genetic Algorithm optimized Radial Basis Function neural network is used to compute the service weight for maximizing the utilization of network resource. An experiment of the network bearing different kinds of services based on Openflow is described. This well-designed fat-tree network has high efficiency in traffic distribution, and has integrated the traditional network architecture and new SDN technology.

Scheduling Data Flow between Data Centers Based on Software Defined Network

For intelligent control of network traffic, to solve the problem of low utilization of public network bandwidth, we put forward scheduling data flow between data center based on SDN technology. First, we connect the data center distributed in different locations by wide area network and exchange or share the research data of high performance. Then, the system can sense the utilization and performance of the network bandwidth resources between the data center. Based on the results of perception, we can dynamically adjust and optimize the path of data and maximize the utilization of network link. SDN is a new software based network structure. This paper uses SDN network architecture to schedule the traffic of data center, and constructs a two-layer network suitable for cloud computing and virtualization environment. It realizes the global, dynamic and intelligent data flow.

This works presents an innovative application of Markov Decision Process (MDP) to a medium-term mining logistics planning problem considering the mine-to-client supply chain. We implemented three distinct algorithms based on state-of-the-art approaches to solve large-scale problems, and compared their results. Furthermore, we combined all three variants in a single novel algorithm that attained fast convergence and may be an alternative to circumvent the curse of dimensionality underlying large scale problems.

Structural colors generated due to light scattering from static all-dielectric metasurfaces have successfully enabled high-resolution, high-saturation and wide-gamut color printing applications. Despite recent advances, most demonstrations of these structure-dependent colors lack post-fabrication tunability that hinders their applicability for front-end dynamic display technologies. Phase-change materials (PCMs), with significant contrast of their optical properties between their amorphous and crystalline states, have demonstrated promising potentials in reconfigurable nanophotonics. Herein, we leverage a tunable all-dielectric reflective metasurface made of a newly emerged class of low-loss optical PCMs with superb characteristics, i.e., antimony trisulphide (Sb2S3), antimony triselenide (Sb2Se3), and binary germanium-doped selenide (GeSe3), to realize switchable, high-saturation, high-efficiency and high-resolution structural colors. Having polarization sensitive building blocks, the presented metasurface can generate two different colors when illuminated by two orthogonally polarized incident beams. Such degrees of freedom (i.e., structural state and polarization) enable a single reconfigurable metasurface with fixed geometrical parameters to generate four distinct wide-gamut colors suitable for a wide range of applications, including tunable full-color printing and displays, information encryption, and anti-counterfeiting. © 2021, CC BY.

A proper strategies in designing and optimizing supply chains can help enterprises to stay competitive in this volatile economy. Identifying various type of products that run through the supply chain and aligning several parts of the supply chain to these product types are considered to be effective strategies adapted by successful companies. In this paper we address an optimal design of a multi-echelon supply chain problem with various commodity that is of significance to the business enterprise, along with the associated inventory systems. By using the guaranteed service approach to model the multi-echelon inventory system, we develop an MINLP model to simultaneously optimize the transportation, inventory and network structure of a multi-echelon supply chain which involve multi commodity. The optimization model is then solved using a strategy of releasing nonbasic variables from their bounds, combined with the "active constraint" method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The surge use in network traffic due to increased adoption of 4G LTE-capable portable devices put pressure on network providers to constantly upgrade their network infrastructures. At the same time, unlike traditional Internet access devices (e.g., computer desktops), whose network traffic can be easily tracked via their port numbers, applications of handheld devices typically communicate via HTTP and encrypted HTTPS. Additionally, for scalability purpose, most of their data are sent and received via Content Distribution Networks (CDNs). These communication characteristics obscure any attempt to monitor their network usage. This paper uses cellular network traffic generated by the applications running on a smartphone to predict a 62% prediction accuracy in distinguishing social network services (SNS) from other background applications. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.

Homogenisation for the monodomain model in the presence of microscopic fibrotic structures

MSC Codes 35B27Computational models in cardiac electrophysiology are notorious for long runtimes, restricting the numbers of nodes and mesh elements in the numerical discretisations used for their solution. This makes it particularly challenging to incorporate structural heterogeneities on small spatial scales, preventing a full understanding of the critical arrhythmogenic effects of conditions such as cardiac fibrosis. In this work, we explore the technique of homogenisation by volume averaging for the inclusion of non-conductive micro-structures into larger-scale cardiac meshes with minor computational overhead. Importantly, our approach is not restricted to periodic patterns, enabling homogenised models to represent, for example, the intricate patterns of collagen deposition present in different types of fibrosis. We first highlight the importance of appropriate boundary condition choice for the closure problems that define the parameters of homogenised models. Then, we demonstrate the technique’s ability to correctly upscale the effects of fibrotic patterns with a spatial resolution of 10 µm into much larger numerical mesh sizes of 100-250 µm. The homogenised models using these coarser meshes correctly predict critical pro-arrhythmic effects of fibrosis, including slowed conduction, source/sink mismatch, and stabilisation of re-entrant activation patterns. As such, this approach to homogenisation represents a significant step towards whole organ simulations that unravel the effects of microscopic cardiac tissue heterogeneities. © 2020, CC BY.

Massive infrared dark clouds (IRDCs) are considered to host the earliest stages of high-mass star formation. In particular, 70 µm dark IRDCs are the colder and more quiescent clouds. At a scale of about 5000 au using formaldehyde (H2CO) emission, we investigate the kinetic temperature of dense cores in 12 IRDCs obtained from the pilot ALMA Survey of 70 µm dark High-mass clumps in Early Stages (ASHES). Compared to 1.3 mm dust continuum and other molecular lines, such as C18O and deuterated species, we find that H2CO is mainly sensitive to low-velocity outflow components rather than to quiescent gas expected in the early phases of star formation. The kinetic temperatures of these components range from 26 to 300 K. The Mach number reaches about 15 with an average value of about 4, suggesting that the velocity distribution of gas traced by H2CO is significantly influenced by a supersonic non-thermal component. In addition, we detect warm line emission from HC3N and OCS in 14 protostellar cores, which requires high excitation temperatures (Eu/k ∼ 100 K). These results show that some of the embedded cores in the ASHES fields are in an advanced evolutionary stage, previously unexpected for 70 µm dark IRDCs. Copyright © 2023, The Authors.
