Social science concerns issues on individuals, relationships, and the whole society. The complexity of research topics in social science makes it the amalgamation of multiple disciplines, such as economics, political science, and sociology, etc. For centuries, scientists have conducted many studies to understand the mechanisms of the society. However, due to the limitations of traditional research methods, there exist many critical social issues to be explored. To solve those issues, computational social science emerges due to the rapid advancements of computation technologies and the profound studies on social science. With the aids of the advanced research techniques, various kinds of data from diverse areas can be acquired nowadays, and they can help us look into social problems with a new eye. As a result, utilizing various data to reveal issues derived from computational social science area has attracted more and more attentions. In this paper, to the best of our knowledge, we present a survey on data-driven computational social science for the first time which primarily focuses on reviewing application domains involving human dynamics. The state-of-the-art research on human dynamics is reviewed from three aspects: individuals, relationships, and collectives. Specifically, the research methodologies used to address research challenges in aforementioned application domains are summarized. In addition, some important open challenges with respect to both emerging research topics and research methods are discussed. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Dies in 3D stacked ICs are connected with Through-Silicon-Vias or micro bumps. Resistive open defects may occur at interconnects between the dies in fabrication process. The defects may grow to an open circuit fault in the field after shipping to a market. In this paper, a field test method is proposed so as the defect to be detected after shipping to a market before it becomes an open circuit fault. This test method is based on a quiescent supply current that is made flow through an interconnect between dies only in tests. It is shown by Spice simulation that an increase of 0.01Ω is detected by the test method in field tests.

The transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) in Indonesia is seen to be uncontrollably increasing that urges the government to leverage the capacity for the disease detections. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), rapid test and computed tomography (CT) scan are the most common methods to determine if one has been infected regardless of whether or not the common symptoms of such Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) surface. Among these three, RT-PCR is considered the gold standard for qualitative and quantitative assessment of SARS CoV-2 detection. The present paper aims at elaborating the framework of Roche's RT-PCR machine employed specifically for SARS CoV-2 detection performed by Genetics Indonesia which is deemed to be efficient and relatively quicker than other detection kits. RT-PCR machine detected SARS Cov-2 with RNA amplification curve equals to 10 copies RNA below the cut off value of Crossing point (Cp) positive control. Also elucidated in the paper is the implementations of EAV RNA and LightCycler® 96 RT-PCR System through which analysis time, amounts of individual required sample, as well as the reagents, can be accordingly reduced.

Microalgae have drawn significant interest worldwide, owing to their enormous application potential in the green energy, biopharmaceutical, and nutraceutical industries. Many studies have proved and stated the potential of microalgae in the area of biofuel which is economically effective and environmentally friendly. Besides the commercial value, the potential of microalgae in environmental protection has also been investigated. Microalgae-based process is one of the most effective way to treat heavy metal pollution, compared to conventional methods, it does not release any toxic waste or harmful gases, and the aquatic organism will not receive any harmful effects. The potential dual role of microalge in phytoremedation and energy production has made it widely explored for its capability. The interest of microalgae in various application has motivated a new focus in green technologies. Considering the rapid population growth with the continuous increase on the global demand and the application of biomass in diverse field, significant upgrades have been performed to accommodate green technological advancement. In the past decade, noteworthy advancement has been made on the technology involving the diverse application of microalgae biomass. This review aims to explore on the application of microalgae and the development of green technology in various application for microalgae biomass. There is great prospects for researchers in this field to delve into other potential utilization of microalgae biomass not only for bioremediation process but also to generate revenues from microalgae by incorporating clean and green technology for long-term sustainability and environmental benefits. © 2021

Lead telluride is an important thermoelectric material due to its large Seebeck coefficient combined with its unusually low thermal conductivity that is related to the strong anharmonicity of phonons in this material. Here, we have studied the resonant and nonperturbative coupling of transverse optical phonons in lead telluride with cavity photons inside small-mode-volume metallic metasurface cavities that have photonic modes with terahertz frequencies. We observed a giant vacuum Rabi splitting on the order of the bare phonon and cavity frequencies. Through terahertz time-domain spectroscopy experiments, we systematically studied the vacuum Rabi splitting as a function of sample thickness, temperature, and cavity length. Under the strongest light–matter coupling conditions, the strength of coupling exceeded the bare phonon and cavity frequencies, putting the system into the deep-strong coupling regime. These results demonstrate that this uniquely tunable platform is promising for realizing and understanding predicted cavity-vacuum-induced ferroelectric instabilities and exploring applications of light–matter coupling in the ultrastrong and deep-strong coupling regimes in quantum technology. Single-Shot Secure Quantum Network Coding for General Multiple Unicast Network with Free One-Way Public Communication

It is natural in a quantum network system that multiple users intend to send their quantum message to their respective receivers, which is called a multiple unicast quantum network. We propose a canonical method to derive a secure quantum network code over a multiple unicast quantum network from a secure classical network code. Our code correctly transmits quantum states when there is no attack. It also guarantees the secrecy of the transmitted quantum state even with the existence of an attack when the attack satisfies a certain natural condition. In our security proof, the eavesdropper is allowed to modify wiretapped information dependently on the previously wiretapped messages. Our protocol guarantees the secrecy by utilizing one-way classical information transmission (public communication) in the same direction as the quantum network although the verification of quantum information transmission requires two-way classical communication. Our secure network code can be applied to several networks including the butterfly network. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are becoming an important networking infrastructure because it has many advantages such as low cost and increased high-speed wireless Internet connectivity. In our previous work, we implemented a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based simulation system, called WMN-PSO, and a simulation system based on Genetic Algorithm (GA), called WMN-GA, for solving node placement problem in WMNs. Then, we implemented a hybrid simulation system based on PSO and distributed GA (DGA), called WMN-PSODGA. In this paper, we consider the load balancing problem. Different from our previous work, we add in the fitness function a new parameter called NCMCpR (Number of Covered Mesh Clients per Router). The simulation results show that better optimization is achieved by considering load balancing. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In recent years, a large number of smart devices will be connected in Internet of Things (IoT) using an ad hoc network, which needs more frequency spectra. The cognitive radio (CR) technology can improve spectrum utilization in an opportunistic communication manner for IoT, forming a promising paradigm known as cognitive radio ad hoc networks, CRAHNs. However, dynamic spectrum availability and mobile devices/persons make it difficult to develop an efficient data transmission scheme for CRAHNs under an obstacle environment. Opportunistic routing can leverage the broadcast nature of wireless channels to enhance network performance. Inspired by this, in this paper, we propose an Obstacle aware Opportunistic Data Transmission scheme (OODT) in CRAHNs from a computational geometry perspective, considering energy efficiency and social features. In the proposed scheme, we exploit a new routing metric, which is based on an obstacle avoiding algorithm using a polygon boundary 1-searcher technology, and an auction model for selecting forwarding candidates. In addition, we prove that the candidate selection problem is NP-hard and propose a heuristic algorithm for candidate selection. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve better performance than existing schemes. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Bladder cancer stands as a prevailing neoplasm among men globally, distinguished for its pronounced malignancy attributed to invasiveness and metastatic proclivity. Tannic acid (TA), an organic compound in many plants, has garnered recent attention for its discernible anti-mutagenic attributes. This investigation endeavored to scrutinize the repercussions of TA on grade II bladder cancer, with a concerted focus on unraveling its anti-cancer mechanisms. The cytotoxic effects of TA on grade II bladder cancer cells were investigated using multiple techniques, including MTT assay, flow cytometry, TUNEL assay, and western blot. Our findings revealed that elevated concentrations of TA induced cytotoxic effects in grade II bladder cancer cells. Both flow cytometry and the TUNEL assay substantiated the dose-dependent capacity of TA to prompt apoptosis. Western blot analysis corroborated that TA treatment in bladder cancer cells resulted in the upregulation of cleaved caspase-3 expression and PARP. Furthermore, heightened TA dosage elicited an augmentation in the expression of pro-apoptotic proteins, namely Bax and Bak, alongside a reduction in the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 within bladder cancer cells. This study confirms TA as a potential anticancer agent, demonstrably diminishing the viability of bladder cancer cells. TA exerts cytotoxicity through the activation of mitochondrial apoptotic pathways. Specifically, TA initiates the cleavage of PARP and caspase-3, concurrently augmenting the expression of pro-apoptotic proteins to facilitate apoptosis. Collectively, the present study indicates that TA effectively impedes the proliferation of bladder cancer cells by instigating apoptosis through the intrinsic mitochondrial pathway.
